  1. I've got an error message noting potential mod order problems after sorting with LOOT. I've installed STEP Extended all the way through (except the patches, which I still have to do). Here's the contents of the error message: Should I create Metadata rules in LOOT for these mods so that this doesn't happen in the future? For example, setting Complete Crafting Overhaul_Remade.esp to load after BetterQuestObjectives.esp. If I should, perhaps the guide should be updated so that these rules are added to each respective mod. Thanks!
  2. This is the answer I expected. Thanks! Awesome! That's why I posted; in hopes of having the instructions updated to avoid future confusion! Thanks, guys.
  3. In the instructions for the Enhanced Blood Textures mod, it says to install the main file, as well as the patch for the relevant DLC. However, later on, the instructions for the STEP Extended Patches say not to download or install the following file: dD-Dragonborn-Dawnguard-EBT Patch.esp. That file is installed with the aforementioned patch for the relevant DLC... So, do we download and install that patch, or do we skip it?
  4. It's definitely a chore to get everything working properly, but once it is, I imagine it's amazing! I say I imagine it's amazing because I've never actually gotten to that point, haha. I've always been plagued with crashes.
  5. I believe the problem with your carry weight stems from the Character Creation Overhaul. I use that mod too, and I've noticed that it changes carry weights a lot, and often times I end up with a very low, or even negative carry weight. Surely it's a conflict between that mod and another, but I've never been able to narrow it down. I always just adjust my carry weight permanently via the Console. The command is: player.setav carryweight #### (input your custom value where the #s are). Hope that helps!
  6. My replies are in orange again. Thank you!
  7. A lot of times you won't notice the higher resolution textures unless you're actually looking for them. But I'm the same way; I can't NOT use them. Although I settle for the Lite version of Skyrim HD.
  8. My replies are in orange. I've got a couple more questions though. 1) Do you think I'd be better off using STEP or SRLE? SRLE seems to be geared more towards the direction I want to go with my game; realism. As you can see in the spreadsheet, both STEP and SRLE contain quite a few of the same mods, with SRLE only having a few of the mods that I want, that STEP doesn't. 2) If I install STEP in its entirety, when installing additional mods that are contained in a Pack, should I install the entire Pack, or can I cherry-pick only the mods on my list from it?
  9. That's definitely the biggest problem with modding this game. There are so many cool and interesting mods out there that let you tailor the game to your liking, but quite a few problems along the way. You can run into compatibility issues, bog your system down, etc. It's so hard to resist using a ton of mods, and playing without them isn't an option after seeing what modded game looks like, and how it plays compared to vanilla.
  10. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's looking for help on this subject! I've never been able to have a stable, problem-free modded game in Skyrim, and I want this time to break that cycle. To do that, I need all the help I can get in sorting and installing everything in the right order.
  11. Hey, everyone. It's me again. I know; you hate me right now. I'm trying to figure out when to install the mods on my list that aren't covered by STEP Extended. This free-to-view spreadsheet contains the entire list. It is color-coded, and the mods are grouped into the STEP categories. The STEP mods (green) are in the same category as in the guide. Here is the spreadsheet: Categorized Mod List (be sure to view both pages within the spreadsheet) Based on that, I have some questions. 1) Do the non-STEP mods look like they're in the right categories? If not, where should they go? 2) The non-STEP mods at the very bottom; I have no idea which category they go in. Do you? 3) When should I install these non-STEP mods; DURING the STEP Extended installation, or AFTER? I would install them in the order they are listed in the spreadsheet (unless anyone has reason to suggest a different order). 4) Non-STEP mods contained in Packs; can they be installed without the remainder of the Pack, or would I need the entire Pack? 5) STEP Extended and Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition cover about the same amount of mods that I want; which should I use as my primary installation? (be sure to view both pages within the spreadsheet) I know you guys hate me right now, but please try to bear with me. This is a trying process, and it's driving me crazy! Thanks in advance for any assistance provided!
  12. In all seriousness though, thank you for the help. I know I post a lot of questions that probably have obvious answers, and are probably irritating to have to read and answer. That's why I appreciate it so much when people come through and help me out. So, thanks a lot!
  13. Thanks! ::):I posted this on the previous page, so I don't know if you saw it or not. It's a link to a free spreadsheet I made with all of the mods I want, and what guide(s)/pack(s) they can be found in. I've also listed the category it goes (or where I think it should go) in within the STEP Guide. If you could take a look at the mods that aren't in the STEP Guide and see if you think the categories are right, that'd be helpful.https://docs.zoho.co...9a5090cdde0bd3a
  14. I'm still looking for some help with this, if anyone is willing to. I've already got STEP Extended completely installed, so now I just need to install the remainder of the mods on my list. I just need help figuring out what order to put them in.
  15. I used to use CoT and RLO, but I'm planning to use ELFX this time around. I gave thought to using RCRN instead, but it's hard to find an ENB that works with it, whereas almost all of them work with, and nicely compliment CoT. As for my preferred ENB; I've used quite a few of them. The one I plan to use this time around is the Seasons of Skyrim ENB.
  16. That's what always ended up happening to me too. I would get frustrated with adding mods a few at a time and then testing for conflicts so I would just add them all in bulk; over 100 at a time. Then I'd get pissed when I'd have crashes, infinite loading screens, etc. I tried to tell myself to be patient and do it the right way, but the desire to actually PLAY the game, with mods, would always get the best of me. Following STEP is hopefully going to be the answer I've been looking for, resulting in a stable, modded game.I agree with you on the subject of ENB; Skyrim just doesn't look right without it. The vanilla game doesn't have very good lighting at all.
  17. Well, if the instructions aren't pertinent (seeing as I'm not using that version of the ESP), why install them too? I read them beforehand though (right-clicked and opened them). Thanks for the help! Clever!
  18. The problem is that I don't know if adding the missing mods from my list to my load order after installing all of the mods for STEP Extended will cause any problems. Most of them are shared by both STEP and SRLE, and a few of the missing ones (not in STEP) are in SRLE. There's only about 5 or 6 in SRLE that aren't in STEP, but they can be found in packs too. So my options become: 1) Install STEP Extended 2) Install any packs that contain additional mods I desire OR 1) Install SRLE 2) Install any packs that contain additional mods I desire
  19. It's because the plugin from the Weapons and Armor Fixes mod will be used. "Only the "meshes" folder from each of these files are needed, so none of the plugins from this mod should be loaded (thus, they do not have to be installed). The plugin from Weapons and Armor Fixes will be used." MO Users: Optional: Right click the mod > Information > Optional ESPs. Move all plugins from the lower pane into the upper pane.
  20. So I start installing the mod, and uncheck aMidianBorn_ContentAddon.esp and aMidianBorn_ContentAddon_Installation directions.txt, then click okay to install the mod. Then I right-click it in the left pane, go to Information, and navigate to the Optional ESP tab. From there, I move the aMidianBorn_ContentAddon esp from the top pane to the bottom pane, and activate it in the right pane under the Plugins tab.Correct?
  21. When installing the aforementioned mod, the instructions for doing so leave me confused. "Now install the Content Addon using the Improved Closefaced Helmets ESP." When the mod opens in the Mod Organizer, you see the following tree. Data Improved Closefaced Helmets Version AMB Book of Silence - Improved Closefaced Helmets.txt aMidianBorn_ContentAddon.esp Scripts Meshes Textures aMidianBorn_ContentAddon.esp aMidianBorn_ContentAddon_Installation directions.txt On first install I disabled the last two files and left the two in the "Improved Closefaced Helmets Version" tree enabled. When I activated the mod in the left pane, the aMidianBorn_ContentAddon esp did not show up in the right pane. On second install, I left everything enabled. When I activated the mod in the left pane, the aMidianBorn_ContentAddon esp showed up in the right pane as it should have. But, was that the right one? I need the Improved Closefaced Helmets version of the esp. Can someone walk me through the correct installation for this? I don't want to screw it up. One of my first instincts was to open the file in Win-Zip and remove the last two files, but that would likely cause the esp to be missing from the right pane again. If I right-click on the Improved Closefaced Helmets Version tree and set it as the Data Directory, everything else disappears (Scripts, Meshes, Textures, etc.), and I don't know if that's right either. Thank you! Hopefully this will be successfully answered when I get home; I'm having my wisdom teeth out in about an hour, and could use good news to come home to, haha!
  22. Anyone? I don't know what to do... Do I run SRLE or do I run STEP Extended and use packs to cover the missing content from my list (then add any additional missing content afterwards)?
  23. I haven't tried searching anything, but my content page is indeed empty.
  24. So, I've spent the majority of my evening going through the list of mods from STEP (both Core and Extended), as well as most of the packs, compiling a list of what mods are in each. Then I went through the list of mods that I want to use, which I compiled not too long ago, and marked which was contained in which; STEP (Core or Extended), any pack(s), etc.. It was done in Excel, and I uploaded the spreadsheet to a free website called Zoho for anyone interested to look at (it's free). Much of my list is covered by STEP (Core and Extended), and much of the remaining are covered by packs. There are some that aren't, but that's to be expected. Hopefully all of them are compatible. https://docs.zoho.com/file/n9y9p908b1fd5bdaf4a0489a5090cdde0bd3a What I'd like assistance with is screening the list for conflicts. Keep in mind that there are STEP mods (from both Core and Extended) that aren't on that list, as many of them aren't mods I would have thought to use on my own (without the list requiring them). I'm also having some trouble placing mods in the appropriate STEP Category, so some help with that would be nice too! Anyone up to helping me out? Thanks! EDIT: Updated the categories for a bunch of mods in the spreadsheet. The ones with question marks I'm unsure of, so advice would be great!
  25. Oh, so Skyrim Revisited is completely independent of STEP? Why is it listed as a STEP Pack then? That just seems strange, lol. No matter though. Your advice on how to install extra mods seems sound though. I actually went through the packs earlier (briefly) and found that a lot of the extra mods I want to use that aren't part of STEP Core or Extended are available in some of the packs. I'll have to do more investigating to see which pack(s) I could use with which STEP version though (Core and/or Extended). It might still be a good idea for me to go through my mod list and note which mods are covered by what; Core, Extended, packs, etc. That's more or less what I would be looking for, yes. Not to say that I wouldn't be pulling my own weight though. It's not like I'm asking for other people to do all of the work in checking for compatibility issues, figuring out where to place each mod, etc. I'd help too. But, I understand if no one is willing to lend a hand with that. More than likely I'll be able to cover everything between Core, Extended and the available packs.
