SKYRIMLE Skyrims Unique Treasures by clintmich
MadWizard25 replied to MadWizard25's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
A quick addendum, clintmich replied quickly to the suggestion torminator made and I posted on the mods nexus page. So i will quickly summarize what he posted, as well as tweak the review. 1. He has noticed that the weapons were OP in previous versions, so in the latest version no one should worry that they are too OP. They are powerful, but no more powerful than other vanilla powerful weapons, excellent! 2. He did indeed make the chests yellow because they are so rare, but he will consider hiding some of them better in the next release. 3. He will also give consideration to quests involved with this mod. Other than that, hes is clear and courteous in his replies. Another bonus for the mod! -
SKYRIMLE The Chronicles of Steel -Skyrim- Realswords
MadWizard25 replied to Shinteo's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Interesting, thank you Shinteo. I use TCOSS, WoTE, Jaysus swords, etc, basically any big weapon addition pack, and have never noticed too high of a drop level. Vond, im wondering if you include TCOSS in a bashed patch via Wrye Bash? I cant check atm, but i do know BOSS adds delev/ relev tags to TCOSS, so maybe this is why im seeing normal drops? -
Thank you very much for the comparison between AKM and TDOD. I have been using TDOD literally only because of the progressive unlocking of kill moves tied to leveling. However, you mentioned that with AKM it is possible to unlock kill moves by perk progression. While not as great as level progression, it will do ok to replace it, and the other features that AKM includes now over TDOD has made me reconsider using AKM instead of TDOD.

I have this mod tracked, but im a little worried that the author is biting off more than he can chew, WiS style. My main interested in this will be if he/ she is able to properly code epidemics and pandemics into the game. Having a black plague situation in Skyrim would be very cool, although there would have to be some way to dispose corpses in a realistic way, as well as somehow repopulating skyrim lol.

SKYRIMLE SkyTEST - Realistic Animals and Predators
MadWizard25 replied to Bealdwine's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Been using this mod for a while as well, and to be fair the effects are pretty subtle, but still evident. It is noticeable that animal AI has been tweaked, wolf attack differently, there are more groups of animals, and i can now see female-male pairs in the wilderness. This may be my imagination as well, but i think animals are less prone to running into water as well. I also use Real Wildlife, which compliments SkyTEST perfectly. I especially enjoy the minature skeevers and spiders that replace rats as critters. The lore-friedly expanded diseases is also a bonus. So for those of you who enjoy SkyTEST i would recommend Real Wildlife. When i have the time again i will try to post a full review for it. And thanks for the ctd issue heads up with Brids and Flocks. I havent noticed any CTDs, but i still do get freezes in exterior cells sometimes, around riverwood as well, so i will check if disabling it fixes it. -
SKYRIMLE Skyrims Unique Treasures by clintmich
MadWizard25 replied to MadWizard25's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Thanks guys :) I agree with most of your sentiments torminater. The treasure chests shouldnt be so yellow. However, since all unique items in exteriors are in chests, and there are only 20 chests in exteriors in the entirety of skyrim, it may be that the author deliberately made them yellow and obtrusive so you could actually find them :P Besides, ive only found 1 after quite a few hours exploring, so it may be that even thought they are yellow, they have actually also been hidden quite well. More diversity of chests naturally follows. The quest idea is also great, i believe it was already posted on the mod thread on nexus, but the author has declined to comment on that yet. Nevertheless, i seem to remember a faction/ quest situation mod in Oblivion concerning an Archaeology guild. Maybe he could do something similar here, where you join the guild and are sent on a quest to collect all these items. In fact, with your permission, i would like to post some of your suggestions on the mods thread on nexus. Or you could post them yourself :) -
Black Circles, z-fighting and texture shimmering
MadWizard25 replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Firstly id like to say great job! You really sunk your teeth into this problem :P If you manage to work it out many interwebs props to you! Well i mentioned i would help, but got sidetracked RL stuff. Back on track now! Ok, ive got no difference with LOD z-fighting with the 301.24/25 beta drivers, as well as the 296.10. Its still horrendous, and just as bad as when skyrim was released where it was vanilla with no mods and i was using a radeon hd 5770 card with 11.1 to 12.3 drivers. Exact same problem with a geforce 560 ti. Will try the ini tweaks next and will let you know. -
Quick Details Name: Skyrims Unique Treasures Author: clintmich Category: Content FPS Intensive: No Lore Friendly: Yes STEP Compatible: Yes Review Back for another review; been a bit busy lately so time to catch up ;) Skyrims Unique Treasures is a content mod that adds various unique objects to the region of Skyrim. These can either be unique objects or treasure chests containing gold and unique objects. Altogether there are about 100 of these objects, items, and chests that you can collect, use, or just put on display in your homes. I have actually been using this mod for quite a while, since skyrim patch 1.3, but have had trouble finding any of the objects, although I have only explored whiterun/ riverwood area extensively. This is how it should be! The treasures justify the unique moniker in two ways; rarity and custom models, textures, and meshes. After all this time I have only been able to find 1 treasure chest containing some gold and two ronin swords. Clintmitch states that these treasures may be found in exterior and interior cells. Exterior treasures are placed in treasure chests of which there are only 20. As you can imagine i was quite pleased to come across one of the treasure chests, even if by luck. And thats important; its good to know that the mod accomplishes this feeling. I have had no compatibility issues, which i was a bit worried about because this mod adds new objects such as weapons, but so far it has played very nice with 5 other weapon/ armor addition mods i use, as well as the STEP collection. BOSS recommends no bash tags either. Balance is an issue i am concerned about. The mod adds a few magical weapons, and the author does state they can be very powerful. The two blades i found had 5 lifesteal per hit, and did not seem OP, however i do use a combat difficulty enhancement mod. I expect some of the other unique weapons will be far more powerful, which is why i consider this to still be an issue. Even the most powerful weapons should not guarantee 1 - 3 hit kills on dragons with Deadly Dragons mod enabled. Something to still look out for. In conclusion, I enjoy the mod, and its great for those who enjoy treasure hunting and loot collecting. Only issues for me so far are potentially overpowered weapons and a genie lamp that intentionally gives unlimited gold (which can be ignored as per authors recommendation). Neither of these issue would stop me from recommending the mod as they can easily be ignored, and the benefits definitely out way these issues. Pros - Mostly Unobtrusive - Truly Rare (few and mostly hard to find) - Truly Unique (custom everything, non-craftable) - Compatible - Not FPS Intensive - Quality (good quality custom items in terms of meshes, textures) - Lore friendly version - Induces warm rosy feel when you finally find an unique treasure - Magic weapons found are well balanced and do not exceed vanilla standards - Polite, friendly and responsive author Cons - Treasure chests are not unobtrusive. They are yellow and thus can be easy to spot among foliage in exteriors. - Some items potentially overpowered - A magic lamp that can give unlimited gold if dropped and picked up repeatably (author states this is intentional and that responsible players can just ignore it) Before and After Screenshots Before After Content Screenshots Skyrim Nexus Link https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=12766

By now some of you might have heard about Planetary Resources going public with their long term plan for asteroid mining. Its awesome news that there will be a serious attempt at this, but im still a little skeptical. Big world altering projects by billionaires have been announced before, to no result, even if they are technically feasible. Also the current timescale seems impractical, but i guess they have to sell it that way. Maybe in 30 - 40 years we might see some serious results from this, but by then most the angel investors will be dead, and i hardly think they are all doing this out of altruism for the human race. Mining in as close to zero gravity as possible will likely also require decades to be practical and efficient. Then again, im a skeptic by default. Any thoughts? Complimentary Pic One of the most informative links i have found so far; https://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2012/04/24/breaking-private-company-does-indeed-plan-to-mine-asteroids-and-i-think-they-can-do-it/

I think this is awesome work, and i dont even particularily appreciate art. Maybe this just appeals to the biologist in me ;) Two artists fill anatomical glass structures with noble gases and then apply an electric field. I think the result is quite stunning! It may be that in the future that there will be little differentiation between consoles and pc's. It could be that what we define as a pc will also be radically different than it is today. I would hope so, some new paradigms would be nice. This is a more long term view though and depends on massive changes to IC design, which will probably need to overcome a lot of inertia from established processes and industry knowledge. So who knows what the pc vs. console debate will be in a few decades, maybe we will just have simple interface devices and use some souped up version of OnLive for everything, not just games. I dont know much about the tech involved, wrong research area, but I hope this argument becomes redundant soon. @ z92 and MontyMM, why so serious? The future is bright! Well, probably not totally, but I think humanity will muddle through, like we have so far. I dont think it will be Utopia, or as bad as F3. Somewhere in the middle.

Movement of trees and grass

Its fine for me, but maybe disabling v-sync can cause fast swaying trees; I have v-sync enabled. -
Black Circles, z-fighting and texture shimmering
MadWizard25 replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I wouldn't use DNA directly, as in downloading the generated inis and straight out replacing the old ones. DNA still makes some errors in values it outputs. Would b better to generate the inis and then compare with guides on ini values like the GeForce one, then pick and match. I also suffer heavily from z-flicker, in any mountain that is the furthest away, or the last level of LOD. Been keeping an eye out the z-flicker thread on the Bethesda forums, but so far any tweaks recommended reduce the quality of long distance graphics too much. That being said i will try out your ini tweaks that you posted as well as the Skyrim Tweaks Complete today or tomorrow, will let you know if they help :) -

Shadow Details vs. Performance Problem
MadWizard25 replied to Nachtfrost's question in General Skyrim LE Support
No, your shadow should be seen as high in the skyrim launcher if you use the high shadow tweak. If its being seen as ultra, your tweaks are being overrun. And no, resolution will not have an effect on the name of the shadow quality, if your talking about screen resolution, If its shadow resolution, then 2048 should be detected as high, i think ultra defaults to 4096. If you using high shadows with 4096 shadow resolution then that might be why its being detected as ultra, that or your tweaks are being overrun. Your best bet is to tweak the ini manually, or using WB, and then totally bypass the skyrim launcher by launching via skse. That, or mark your ini's as read only before you open the launcher. Also delete the SkyrimPrefs.ini found in steam/.../common/skyrim/Skyrim folder as it can overwrite the inithat are in your Documents folder. Hope this helps! -

SKYRIMLE Improved Fish - New Fish - More Spawning by Blitz54
MadWizard25 replied to MadWizard25's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Cheers MontyMM for the note about 101Bugs. I had betterfish ordered after 101, BOSS doesn't recognize it yet, but ill place it before now. In think the upside to Tytanis is much better compatibility across many small mods, which is always welcome. But there are also downsides, as has been mentioned. Still wary of it though, def not for large number of plugins setups. -
SKYRIMLE Improved Fish - New Fish - More Spawning by Blitz54

Name: Improved Fish - New Fish - More SpawningAuthor: Blitz54 Category: Content/ Immersion FPS Intensive: No Found this neat little mod on nexus. Now that we have gorgeous water as of WATER 1.2, its about time somebody did something about the sterile bodies of water that lie beneath! The mod does exactly what it says, adds life to lakes and rivers in the form of fish. Spawn rate isnt too high, you dont get mobbed by schools of fish or anything. It fits in nicely with the lore and setting of Skyrim, and there is no performance hit that i can tell. Seems stable after running it for about an hour. Only issue is that the fish textures are a little bright with high texture and full sun settings, but this is something the author has mentioned he will try to fix. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=14320 Screenshots https://tinypic.com/r/3482ixj/5 https://tinypic.com/r/33o3z45/5 -

On a similar note to the Post Processing Comparison, there is now a Texture Mod Comparison by Guru82 on Skyrim Nexus. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=14632 It might be that this has already been posted, there was a link on the SRO thread, but i get a site error when trying to access it and the file ID is different, so maybe this is either the updated version or another comparison. Edit: Oops, read through the comments and apparently its an updated version of the link in the SRO thread. Sorry about the repost!

Shadow Details vs. Performance Problem
MadWizard25 replied to Nachtfrost's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hey Nachtfrost and welcome to the forums! Nice rig btw *envy* Bummer to hear about your issues. But yeah, ultra shadows will cause even the most uber rigs to squeal with pain. Its been posted before on these forums, but this set of instructions at nexus helped me gain about 10-15fps on a high shadow setting. Skyrim by default puts me on ultra, which i cant handle with all the mods, but i really cant tell the difference with this tweaked shadow setting set to high vs vanilla ultra. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=283 Other than that, take a look at the Good Performance Hunting thread on the Guides & Info subforum here, some good tips there. 40 fps loss/ gain is a huge difference though. I can imagine 20, but 40, wow. But then again, might just be your rigs setup, one of its quirks. Also, you mention quality settings for AO, and changing that to performance didnt change your fps? I find that very strange. Jumping from performance AO to quality AO usually results in a large fps hit, even on high end cards. Are you sure your NI setting are being properly applied? Good luck! -
Discussion thread: Celtic and Braided Rugs by Decembria Wiki Link Celtic and Braided Rugs by DecembriaLink I noticed that with all the hi-res texture packages in STEP, none of them include hi-res carpets and rugs. Works fine, lore/ setting friendly, and adds immersion since coming across a low res texture when everything else is hi-res is a bit jarring. I think this mod on its own is great, but, to cover even more carpet types, this can be used in conjunction with; Oriental Rugs by Volek Link I would recommend overriding Oriental with Celtic, which leaves 2 or so carpets out of 10 in the game oriental looking. I think this is also lore/ setting friendly, and imo the best choice. Its not too hard to imagine that some carpets have been imported from other provinces of Tamriel. These carpets are much more colorful than the vanilla ones, so if you prefer a more darker/ dirtier skyrim then this might not be that great since vanilla carpets are pretty much brownish. But i think they fit pretty well into the game. Will post before and after screenshots in a bit.

I believe the conflict is related to leveled lists. Both DD and UFO touch actor/npc, DD not only dragons but npcs as well, changing stats, levels etc. Theoretically you could get rid of the conflict by creating a bashed patch, but atm BOSS doesn't yet have any tags for UFO, not even sure if you need em. In any case leveled list clashes usually dont crash Skyrim, just generate some weird NPC glitches.
