According to Neovalen's guide we should use Merge Plugins 2.1.2 but there is a newer version out.. can we use this without problems or does the guide count on having some of the problems that were fixed in 2.1.3 ?!?

so... I'm about to start this beast again. I've done it a year ago and although I had some problems I had to xEdit my way out of, in the end it worked fine, but I've had to reinstall my pc so there... Neovalen says on his install instructions that the guide updates several times a week (great that so much work is done on it). What worries me though is that it can make it hard to follow. Let's say that I've reached step 4.5.3 and Neovalen updates his symposium and changes something in 4.4.2 that might have repurcussions throughout the install process then I would have to start all over again. 1) How do I combat this? When I installed it earlier I made a copy of the website but it had it's problems. Secondly.. Textures, ENB etc. I want my Skyrim to look as good as possible for my system while still running extremely smooth. I don't mind a few places with sub 60 FPS, but I would absolutely hate extreme fps drops, stuttering, lag etc. 2) What kind of texture size and ENB preset would you recommend? Keep in mind that I'm gaming on Win 10 (can't utilize all of my VRAM :: ) and I'm gaming in 1080P (1680 + 1050). Thanks in advance :P

Should I go back to Windows 7 ?!?
JUNKdeLUXE replied to JUNKdeLUXE's question in General Skyrim LE Support
that's actually not that bad... a HUUUUUUUGE upgrade from vanilla graphics.. more so (dare I say) than from Vanilla Skyrim to modded Skyrim. -
Should I go back to Windows 7 ?!?
JUNKdeLUXE replied to JUNKdeLUXE's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Ohh.. FNV.. I really wanted to try that.. I just can't get over how bad the graphics is.. I've tried googling how a modded FNV would look, but I can't find any recent images or videos.. is it still bad? I'd rather play Baldur's Gate 2 or Fallout 2 (or Ultima VIII for that matter) when it comes to bad graphics because those are isometric but in an openworld game that tries to simulate real life (ie. not cartoonish) I just need decent graphics. -
Should I go back to Windows 7 ?!?
JUNKdeLUXE replied to JUNKdeLUXE's question in General Skyrim LE Support
That sounds reassuring :) With SR:LE + REGS what texture resolutions did you install (and what resolution are you playing in)?!? I don't mind a few microstutters every hour or so, but other than that I want my Skyrim to look as beautiful as possible while still running completely 100% smooth as a babie's bum. -
I have read about a lot of problems with Windows 8+ and DX9 games not fully utilizing 4+ Gb Vram GFX cards. Have anyone else doing the STEP or SR:LE installs tried to see if there is any difference between Win 7 and 10? and if so, how much?

Something is off with my STEP:Extended install. I just completed a full STEP:Extended install with medium textures and was expecting it to run smooth. But straight off from Helgen and outside I'm experiencing FPS drops, stutters, lag etc. Before I did this reinstall I was able to run a SR:LE with medium/high textures w. ENB enabled very well (see sig for PC specs). Now it doesn't.. some setting must be off. What can I do, and what do you need to tell you? Here is my modwat.ch URL https://www.modwat.ch/u/JUNKdeLUXE Thanks in advance.

Graphical Differences between STEP:Extended and SR:LE
JUNKdeLUXE posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hey fellow kneecappers, 6 months ago I did a big SR:LE install with a bunch of added mods on top of it, and it was glorious.. I've since had to reinstall my computer and is not starting from scratch. I really loved the way Skyrim looked and feeled with SR:LE but it was an enormous task that took me close to 3 weeks to install. STEP:Extended looks much more possible to install in a day.. but what is it missing that SR:LE has in terms of graphical fidelity, if any?!? I don't care about quest and survival mods (to a degree) as I will be using Legacy of the Dragonborn, Helgen Reborn, Falskaar and Wyrmstooth on top of my install. Thanks in advance. -
pack Perkus Maximus (PerMa - PaMa) Pack
JUNKdeLUXE replied to phazer11's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
so... I really want to install PERMA on top of my SRLE + REGS.... but do I follow the guide here (https://wiki.step-project.com/Pack:Perkus_Maximus_(PerMa_-_PaMa)_Pack) or do I do something else? The problem is that the guide hasn't been updated since February 5th. 2015, but both SRLE and Perma has been updated since then... Should I go for the 1.1 Perma (with patches etc) or the newly 1.4 and call it a day? I'm so afraid I'm gonna screw up my 5 day long modding by adding this in the very end.. thanks in advance. -
Installing new mods not in STEP or PACKs
JUNKdeLUXE replied to JUNKdeLUXE's topic in Step Skyrim LE Guide
Thanks for your excellent input :) I learned something I hadn't read before (especially point #1). it seems I might not have explained myself good enough.. I don't want super highly detailed guides for what to do when adding a new mod.. I'm looking for guidelines. Here is an example of what I mean (with only having a little knowledge of modding, so it's mostly nonsense text) When adding a new addon be aware of these things: 1) put the addons in the section they refer to. NPC mods in the "Characters and Creatures" section and so on (thanks for that heads up) 2) if adding a mod that changes the worldspace make sure to use this tool 3) check out conflicts in MO and decide what you want etc. 4) etc, etc, etc After having added a new addon make sure to do these steps: 1) Run Sky-reproc (link to generic guide) 2) Run Loot (link to generic guide) 3) Run FNIS (link to generic guide) 4) make batched patch (link to generic guide) 5) Run DYNDOLOD (link to generic guide) 6) etc etc etc (link to generic guide) It's something along those lines, I was thinking about. It doesn't have to be super detailed or mod specific (yikes what a workload) but just a reference for what to do and best practices when adding to STEP, PACKs or SRLE. -
I've been trying to find a post or wiki page, that can help me with short and concise rules of what to be aware of and what to do, when installing new mods on top of the already big installations that STEP and PACKs are. I'm using Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition and there is a lot of information on what to do when adding new stuff etc.. problem is that they are spread all over the guide, and thus it can be easy to forget a step as they are not consolidated (another problem is, I feel these guides seem to rely upon the fact that you've watched all 376 hours of modding guides on Youtube and thus are an expert into modding). I'm guessing there is such a guide, as I think I'm not the only one with this problem, but I just haven't been able to find it... can you help me? And if indeed, such a guide has not been made.. would one be made available to all us modding novices? :D

so... I'm quite sure that the answer is here somewhere on the site, but I just can't seem to find it. I've searched both the wikis and the forums. I've been following the Skyrim: Revisited - Legendary Edition to the letter, and only quite late (having done 80% or so) I read somewhere that instead of installing mod optionals and patches as their own mod / folder (ie. you can drag them each round individually in MO etc), what I should have done is installing them under the same name and using the option "Merge" (ie. overwrite). 1) Having not done that, how much of a performance problem is this? 2) Will I be restricted in terms of the mod limits (255 .esp + .esm)? I think (I'm not sure) that because of the way MO works (virtual folder) and me having installed them all as individuals (got 328 lines in the left pane) is also what makes me having slight stutters and freezes in game as my PC "should" be quite capable (i5 4690K, GTX 980ti 6Gb vram, 16Gb ram, Samsung 850 EVO SSD, gaming motherboard etc. Gaming at 1080P, 1680x1050).

Disabling and/or uninstall Frostfall and iNeed
JUNKdeLUXE replied to JUNKdeLUXE's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
Thanks a bunch :) I don't mind restarting.. so far I'm only testing and havn't done any playing yet. -
Just having received my new PC, I really wanted to get back to modding Skyrim and I've just completed the full Skyrim:Revisited - Legendary Edition.. so far I like it (although it takes some time to load). What I don't like is having to micromanage my character and quickly got irritated by the features that these survival immersion mods (Frostfall and iNeed) added. Can I safely disable and/or uninstall these mods without fubaring (****ed Up Beyond Any Repair) my install? Please have in mind that I will also be adding REGS and PerMa (as well as a few other mods, player homes etc). Thanks in advance :D

fyi. this is for a Skyrim RE:LE + REGS + PERMA install I was following this guide: https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:DDSopt/Skyrim#Optimize_the_Vanilla_Skyrim_Textures and I've reached step 20 and went about the business as with the previous steps.. but I didn't catch that I should have changed the constraints as per the guide... Did I **** it up and what is the result of doing this? and what do I do know? 1) do I need to start all over (with clean skyrim reinstall etc) 2) re-run step 20 with the right settings 3) or throw the PC over the balcony and whine because I failed at reading? Thanks in advance... ps. I'll continue with the steps as the guide says DDSopt can be run when ever... so hopefully I'm not totally screwed.
