  1. Hi guys...curious if TES5edit is developed to a point where making merged patches is a good idea? Â Do you guys do it with your mods or is it best to wait? Thanks Jason
  2. Has anyone had an issue with the newest BOSS (2.1.1). Â It had been working with my NEXUS MOD manager and WYRE BASH flawlessly til about 2 days ago when it said a new version was available. Â I did the standard update but then started running into issues. Â I keep getting a warning that " Unable to write to C:BOSS/BOSS.exe" when trying to INSTALL or uninstall. Â I've tried uninstalling and re-installing etc. Â It seems BOSS is there and able to run but now says it can't detect SKYRIM. Â Is there a way to point it to the directory? Â I've never had to before. Â Ugh I seem stuck. Â Ironically, after downloading Hearthfire is when it has become unable to find Skyrim. Â Before that I HAD to run the BOSS GUI the last 2 days to get it to talk with WYRE BASH when I never had to before. Â Inused to be able to run it right from WYRE BASH. Â Ugh frustrated. Â Thanks in advance, Jason
  3. Glad to hear you recommend them Besidilo. They certainly look interesting and was wondering if they might be part of the "packs" you guys will be suggesting in upcoming STEPs. Although his ENB does look nice too! lol. I'm really enjoying the Seasons ENB for now.
  4. Wondering if any of you guys had any experience or thoughts on the SkyRealism series of mods by IndigoNeko? Â Seems like he has some pretty decent mod concepts for realism and immersion. Â Anyone played them and any stability or conflict issues with STEP mods known?
  5. Iv'e never had a problem looking down from Dragonsreach. Â More when approaching the cities. Â I will try those and report back. Â Thanks guys
  6. Ok, reaching out for help. Â I basically have STEP 2.2 only installed with a few other weapons mods. Â No mods with heavy scripting, spawns etc. Â Stripped everything down on wyre bash to basically STEP. Â Ran most everything thru DDSopt to optimize. Â Starting new run throughs and I keep getting crashes when I approach Whiterun and Riverwood. Â It doesn't happen everytime, sometimes I can make a very wide and round about approach to get there without crashing but more often than not I keep crashing. Â I've tried having the resolution at both 1960 x 1040 and even lowering to 1600 x 900. Â Truthfully in all other areas the framerates seem great and look great. Â Is there a way of tracking down the cause of the crashes? Â Papyrus log? Â Getting Frustrated to the point where I'm thinking about hanging up Skyrim for awhile. Â Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks Jason
  7. Hi again guys...when running other mods and bsa's (such as Dawngard.bsa) thru DDSopt...I assume we convert them as directed in the DDSopt wiki but when we actually optimize the textures we want to select/filter for only the .dds files in the bsa? It seems like the HRDLC and Skyrim-textures bsa were almost exclusively .dds files except for the .txt exclusions pointed out in the guide. I'm curious, do we also optimize .lod files??? I know to leave the .png files alone. Trying to step up my game here and learn some serious modding tricks. Appreciate the guidance...thanks
  8. If in following the DDSopt instructions on the wiki and optimizing the the highres.bsa's into loose files, and then installing with wrye bash...do I then remove them from the skyrim ini? I'm by no means a hardcore modder YET "fri" but certainly trying to learn and get better. Lots of learning thru trial and error. I'm light years ahead of where I was 3 months ago. Certainly appreciate all the help and guidance you guys give us all. I certainly don't mean to test anyones patience on here.
  9. okay...thanks guys...looks like a have a lot more work in front of me...ugh
  10. So I would direct DDSopt to my BASH installers directory prior to running and installing my wyre bash packages? I had always noticed this messed things up for wrye bash when I used Optimizer textures program
  11. Quick question on whether I'm doing things right...did a fresh skyrim install...used wrye bash to install STEP and some other mods. Opened DDSopt...directed it to my data folder for incoming. Used the suggested settings posted a ways back in this thread. DDSopt is currently running...seems like it may take 10 hours or so? Does this sound correct? I'm assuming this does a much better job with textures than Optimizer textures program hence the difference in time running the program or an I doing something drastically wrong? Usually running Optimizer textures would take like 15-30 minutes.
  12. So are you guys saying that wrye bash is tagging this as an error but it really doesn't matter and should run normal??? In that case there is something else affecting my ability to cast spells and its not the dawngard .esm??? Thanks guys...I'll also do some research and studying on BSAopt.
  13. Anybody having any luck setting up Skyrim thru wrye bash with dawngard? Â The dawngard .esm is listed in red. Â From my research it means this esm should be deactivated in the load order as it is included as a plugin? Â But this also seems to uncheck all the dawngard associated .esps for mods. Real issue I am having is that I can't cast any spells with the dawngard .esm activated. Â They load up in my hands but then nothing. Â Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong? Â Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Jason Oh, by the way...when I deactivate the dawngard .esm, spells seem to work fine but obviously all the dawngard associated mods are unactivated in wrye bash
