Highlights

A new game is recommended but if continuing a 2.2.0 playthrough, it's important to use the clean save procedure to ensure things will work as well as can be expected in 2.3. Always create a new MO instance from the previous build, and upgrade the new instance. This preserves the 2.2.0 build if things don't work out.

  • Upgraded guide and modlist to exclusively support the latest game runtime, v1.6.1170 with the Anniversary Upgrade
    • Contributed the v1.6.1170 cleaning data to the LOOT masterlist, including all relevant Creation Club (CC) Anniversary Upgrade masters
    • Modified guide instructions for cleaning the updated vanilla masters based upon the updated LOOT masterlist
  • Moved from BethINI to BethINI Pie for game configuration file (INI) management
  • Added Grass Cache Helper NG and No Grass In Objects with updated instructions to generate the grass cache
  • Skyrim Landscape and Water Fixes was dropped, because it has continued to grow beyond its original scope, overlapping with other mods, and increasing the challenge of maintaining the Step Patches. Step (TechAngel85) instead created Vanilla Landscape Corrections, which will simplify maintenance with it's narrow scope throughout its continuing development.
  • Removed Faction Fixes, since it has reported issues, is no longer maintained, and posts/bugs pages are disabled on Nexus
  • Replaced Wonders of Weather (WoW) with a mod assemblage that provides the WoW effects without the associated script-overload problems
  • Updated all Step patches and added leveled-list patches to support optional use of CCOR, CACO, and WACCF

Step ENB

  • Increased ambient light outdoors in the day to lighten the overly-dark shadows
  • Increased ambient light in interiors to prevent 'blackout' in some caves.

Guide-Level Changes

  • Added instructions for generating the grass cache, which is now as simple as can be with the addition of Grass Cache Helper NG and No Grass In Objects. This also saves a huge download and maintenance of a static grass cache that may not work for those that choose to use the Step build as an extensible foundation.
  • Moved the Step ENB instructions into a dedicated mod under 21-Post-Processing and rearranged related instructions
  • Improved information relating to the Step patches both in the guide and on the Step CR Patch mod page
  • Added to and updated the Mod Configuration Menu recommendations
  • Improved the mod table legend and added links to that under each ModGroup
  • Improved guide clarity, flow, and articulation with mod instructions
