New to STEP - quick question(s)

Question

Posted (edited)

Hello, new to this forum, so patience please, I'll try to be brief with any noob question(s).

I'm very late to the TESV world but REALLY enjoying it (no news to any of you). I modded without STEP structure via MO, LOOT, etc. because I didn't know about STEP, but funny enough, the mods I picked very much mirror STEP core and some extended selections.

I managed to get to level 50 before more frequent random CTD's rocked my Tamriel.  Before that very infrequent CTD's were nothing that 'Fast Travel' past a geographic location wouldn't solve.  Am now reading, reading, reading the STEP guide.  Many thanks to those involved, it is monumental.

I know it is too late to use STEP for my level 50 game saves, but I've just installed TESV for my tween son, added the DLC and HD content off STEAM, cleaned them correctly -- but no other mods.  I walked away while he 'tested' the install, and within an hour he is at level 4 or 5.  Go figure.

So some early in-game progress has been made, he is thane at Whiterun, BUT no mods yet.

Can STEP be confidently applied to his install at this early stage?

I am used to creating content and modding other games (flight sims) and it is normal to add one mod, test in-game for problems, add another, etc.  so is this step-by-step mod install procedure the same here, or does STEP advise ALL the core mods to be installed BEFORE playing the game?

Thank you for any quick advice.  So many other questions, but I will refrain and do my best with the search function.
