A companion mod to Hvergelmirs Armor Retexture, this is a complete retexture of Skyrim's Steel armor and weapons. For now it's armor only, but weapons are coming eventually. In my opinion this steel retexture is superior to Cabal's, especially the fur parts. Looks really amazing.

As a side note, it looks like lthot is planning on retexturing all the armors and you can see the progress on the main HAR page.

Kinda wish he'd work backwards or at least organize with Cabal so that they're not retexturing the same armors. Oh well.

EDIT: Looks like he added it to HAR

What is the consensus of the members between Hvergelmir's vs Cabal's armor retexture initiatives?

I think there are both outstanding but they overlap each other. Hvergelmir seem to have listed more armor items on his to do list (based on HAR). I just second the JudgementJay and wish Hvergelmir would have start from the top armor, include weapons and then work backwards

Hvergelmir started his work on the armours almost a year ago, with valid reasons to continue from the bottom of the list (what armours do you encounter most in the game?).

There's no reason why he would switch around and start working backwards now, ultimately the two mods will be incompatible anyway.

I fully appreciate Cabal's work, but Hvergelmir's armours have a more authentic feel to them IMHO and that's the reason why his armour set is overwriting Cabal's for me.

Cabal is working hard to release a full set in the near future, so if you prefer his work, you will quite possibly get a complete package sooner than one from Hvergelmir's, otherwise you would still need to overwrite somebody's armours anyway.

Besidilo is right.

The reasons he post is some of the reasons why I do the textures in the order I do.

You encounter more of the lower tier armor in the game and many NPCs wear them. I'm sure some people spend some time looking at their own character, but those who actually play the game will spend a majority of their time looking at enemies and other NPCs in the game - even if playing in 3rd person.

The thought is, it'd be quicker to make Skyrim seem populated with my textures instead of the vanilla ones.

Also, working low tier the way up to the higher ones, I'd learn from faults and errors and what people report to me - thus getting better at what I do while I work my way up the latter. Don't you want the higher tier armor to look the best?
