z929669 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Head over to the Nexus to pick up your very own copy of this minor release. There are a handful of mods that contain structural errors and a few typos/inconsistencies are also addressed in the updated PDF.
Neovalen Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 No Official Changelog? First thing I noticed upon opening. It's not hard to find the yellow text changes but since changelogs were kept for the others, figured the same would be here.
z929669 Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 The very top of the changelog has the update + link. I did not add to the changelog, as this is just a quick release. Need to get busy working on the next major release. Hoping Farlo will help get the wiki changelog updated to 2.2 (or I will need to figure Semantic out myself, and that could be awhile)
Farlo Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Sorry, been out for school and stuff. Not sure when (busy as hell this week >.>;), but I can get around to it eventually. I created a formatting outline for the STEP version changelogs, so use that and the v2.2.0 page as a guide. It's pretty simple, you don't even have to edit any of the code, just replace the comment with the bullet point changelog and save it to Changelog/2.2.0a

Besidilo Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 1st Person Armor Fix is now obsolete as USKP 1.2 includes the fix already.USKP doesn't have a loose files version any more, so that should probably be noted in the description.Better Bedrolls have been reported to look worse than the TPC textures.Dragon Glyphs should include a note to use DDSopt on or avoid entirely - the textures shrink from 80 MB to 18 MB.Improved Foot Wraps for Females - I'm not quite sure they're needed at this point. There are a few other mods that we should probably include in the next small STEP release, such as Pets of Skyrim, Birds of Skyrim, Improved Fish, Fishing in Skyrim, Player Headtracking, Footsteps, skyBirds, Run for Your Lives, Breakind and Entering, Wearable Lanterns addons, Ethereal Elven Overhaul, Clanking Armor, and probably a dozen of others. Another thing we should really look into are LOD mods, since there are quite a few of those and STEP has been changing them regularly without a proper comparison. And we've got solid lighting fixes that are omitted from the current STEP release for some reason. I believe there will be some new ENB recommendations considering the release of SkyRealism ENB, Seasons of Skyrim and soon enough, the new Project ENB. RLwC 4.0 and RCRN 3.5 still a while away. SkyRealism mods should also be considered for a Realistic Gameplay pack, but that's for the future STEP (2.3, or whatever it's called). I think we have a base of solid and stable lore-friendly armour/weapon mods, that could be implemented within a week in STEP 2.2.1, with the above fixes in mind.I realise the development has stalled because of core STEP members handling their real life issues, but I believe there's enough of us active testers to make it with another release and please the public. I'm also ready to help out with improving the Wiki entries if needed, since most of the work is done by two people at this point, and the most active Wiki member, Neo, works on his own mod lists every day.
z929669 Posted September 28, 2012 Author Posted September 28, 2012 Good info Besidilo. I will add you as a Wiki Ed. I'd like to expand the mod list as well and possibly determine how many of the little teeny-weeny mods currently in STEP are either obsolete or unnecessary.
frihyland Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Player headtracking, footsteps, run for your lives and ethereal elven overhaul I have slated for 2.21 assuming they pass testing. Also adding the amidianborn armors and millenia weapons. That's about it as far as new mods, excepting enb (we'll have a gay old time deciding the new top 3 to recommend I don't doubt). Primarily 2.21 is intended to introduce the new mostly precedural format of the pdf and perhaps beta the logic of thunderbolt in the form of a few bat files. We'll so how that goes, its a ***** getting all the data perfectly organized and matched. Anyway I want to avoid the problems of the last release where everyone focused on the mod list instead of the pdf. I don't want to change the mod list at all, just add a very very few mods.

Why not choose this one?https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22557/
frihyland Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Because that one requires a ton of testing to go through every texture and figure out which ones are bloated and which ones are good enough for STEP. It's a job for 2.3 I do wish the author had taken our advice and upgraded his technique and skills before continuing development, but we did our best. Â Perhaps he'll respond to specific texture by texture criticism.
Kelmych Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Killable Children is listed as essential in the current STEP. Shouldn't it be optional vs. essential in the next STEP update?
frihyland Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Killable Children is listed as essential in the current STEP. Shouldn't it be optional vs. essential in the next STEP update? You mean a core mod? Â Not the next update, but anything goes in 2.3
Kelmych Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Indeed I meant core mod and my comments are for STEP 2.3.
z929669 Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 There are many "core" mods that should not really be core IMO (e.g., follower trap safety). Fixes, corrections and obvious enhancements should be core, and the rest should be optional, I think.
