Question

Well as the title says Mod Organizer does not launch my New Vegas game properly.

I launch the game through NV4GB.exe with NVSE however that is not the problem. (the game is also launched from program files (steam))

First I will start with what happens when I try to launch the game. (for testing purposes I have close on launch turned off)

Also I use Process Hacker to see the process that start and under what process they start under.

When the game is launched the fnv4gb.exe starts under ModOrganizer.exe.

Shortly after that FalloutMO.exe is started under the fnv4gb.exe.

And the last exe is steamerrorreporter.exe popes up under FalloutMO.exe and  closes itself after a short while.

This is all that happens when I try to launch the game with my current setup.

Now when I try to launch the game with no mods except DarnUI the game will launch without problem.

Also I have tried to disable modes one at a time to see if it is a specific mod or mods is causing the problem.

Doing this has resulted in the game launching properly but the mods installed during the launches and failures is inconsistent and feels sorta random.

Also I have had a TTW install before and it was running just fine but I got tired of it removed it.

I then installed some more mods (about 2-4) and the game would no longer launch.

I have tried re-installing both the game and Mod Organizer.

I have also re-downloading all the mods.

I have checked to see if the virtual folder is created and it is.

I have NOT tried to replicate the problem in NMM because of the large amount of mods.

Here is my computer specs and load order for however much that helps.

Some of the mods were merged by me and I plan to merge ADAM together and IMPACT together.
I have not made a Merge Patch yet but I will when I can get the game to launch properly.

The only files in the override are UIO folders.

The fix on the MO Nexus post fixes the problem like a charm.

I, however, am still having the game look like a maximized window once the start text pops up. (did not happen with NMM)

Edit: The windowed problem I'm having has something to do with the game loosing focus for a second or something as it can be fixed by Alt+Tab a few times.

I don't think what you are describing is a MO related issue. From what you are saying, MO handles all the programs correctly and produces a 4Gb-patched and NVSE aware game that loads properly, it is only when you start to load mods that you crash.

This to me is more of an issue of load-order or possibly missing masters than how MO handles these mods.

You mention you at one time had a working TTW installation, could it possibly be that one or more of these mods are hangovers from that installtion and maybe they are expecting to see Fallout 3 masters as well?

I don't recognize a lot of the installed mods, though that doesn't mean they are incorrect, so I can't tell you if they are in the wrong location.

Maybe some of the more experienced Fallout players will know where they come from.

You almost certainly have too many plugins (149); unlike other Bethesda games Fallout NV can't handle a lot of plugins. Try removing 10-15 of them to keep the total number below around 140, and see if you still have problems.

TTW can not be the problem because as I have stated I have done a full re-install of New Vegas and Mod Organizer.

Also the amount of plugins is not a problem.

Here is a modified load order without IWS, ADAM, and IMPACT because they have a lot of mods.

There are 119 active plugins now.

Also when I say a launch fails what I mean is that the game window never even begins to pop up, there is no crash, and the process does not stop itself but continuous to "run" without doing anything.

There are only 3 non Main/DLC BSA's and they are Willow, Spice of Life, and Archive Invalidation.

Also when there are to many BSA's a WerrFalt.exe shows up in my Process Manager, and that is not happening during these attempts.

Okay, well you don't need the two perk per level mod since you can do that with the PN MCM menus. Also, that Real Weapons Mods might conflict with WMX since they probably do the same thing. Check it for compatibility.

Other than that, I'd check your merged mods. Those can mess up sometimes. Make sure you always tick renumber formIDs when merging.

I'd try the BSAs again. I assumed you had already installed TTW in MO and had it running so the BSA issue wasn't occurring for you at that point.

Even if you only have three extra BSAs you should try to extract those and see.

My FalloutNV won't run with more than two BSAs extra, and Fallout 3 can't have more than one. Keep in mind, the BSAs will stop the game running ONLY when they have the same name as an ESP, such as with Willow and Spice of Life.

Looks like you will need to do a systematic mod check by adding in one-at-a-time.

Since you say the vanilla game starts and runs just fine there must be something fishy with at least one of your mods, or at least how you have it installed.

Keep in mind the order you install mods in MO doesn't really matter, BUT, the order they are in the 'Left-hand pane' does. Even when the plugins are ordered correctly, in the 'Right-hand pane', if the assets needed by that plugin are not found, ie. overwritten by another mod, then you might have issues.

One last point. You mentioned NMM in your OP, you haven't re-installed that and tried to 'fix' the issue with that have you? I'm assuming not since you state this is a fresh game install, but you never know unless you ask.

I tried to check the mods by loading them one at a time but the mods it would load with were inconsistent, as in I tried to load WMX one time and it wouldn't so I stopped there for the day came back the next and it loaded with WMX.

I have loaded all my mods in NMM now and the game will launch just fine.

I think I will just use NMM for now since I have no idea why MO doesn't want to launch the game properly or whatever it is doing.

I am having this identical problem - and to make it worse, it *just* happened.   On Thursday morning (19 feb), my game was working fine with tons of mods.   When I came back that afternoon, it refused to even get to the opening splash screen.   I have been ripping my hair out trying to see if somehow I screwed up something between the times, and have had a great time (hah!)  cleaning up my various ini files, etc.   But nothing has worked.

Specifically, at this point, I can start the game using MO, using either NVSE or FNV4GB as my launch app, with up to about 48 mods installed, and all appears to work fine.  But as soon as I install mod 49 - or sometimes 5O - it hangs before the splash screen, and I sometimes see a steam error reporting process pop up for a bit in task manager, when I go to kill the app.  I take out the mod I just added - which one it is doesn't seem to matter much - and then the game starts again.

Problems I have ruled out:  I have no bsas loaded except the vanilla game ones.   Launching with NVSE and FNV4GB produce the same behavior.  Launching with or without d3d9 enabled produces the same behavior.  Launching with out without New Vegas Ant-Crash is identical.  Launching with or without NV Stutter Removed produces the same behavior. Which mod causes the freeze changes - it can be something as complex as ElectroCity or New Vegas Bountues 2, or a simple little esp that changes some records for Roberts textures. I have rebooted my machine.  I have run memory diagnostics.  I have re-installed Steam.  I have re-installed MO.  I have re-installed ENB.  I have removed my FalloutNV exe and let Steam refresh download it again for me.

It *seems* to be related to number of mods installed - around 48-50, but the count varies.  If I have a lot of other apps running (like Chrome windows), then mod 48 can push me over the limit; close all those chrome windows, and I can get 49 or 50.

And it *just* started for me yesterday.  Before that, I was running 128 mods, no problem.   I have deep suspicions that some automatic Windows or Steam upgrade is screwing me, because when FNV started not running, I couldn't get Chrome to start up, either - until I re-installed it.   I have a fear that some hack invaded my system, and am about to do a major sweep and clean for trojans and such.

So, this is an ongoing and very recent problem for me.  I would appreciate hearing from anyone else who is experiencing similar problems, and would *love* to hear from anyone who's had the problem and fixed it.  Thanks!
