I need some help stabilizing my mods

Question

Posted

To start out, here's my system:

Z87 Haswell Core i5 4670K @4.4GHz

Radeon R9 270X 2GB

8GB DDR3 1333

Windows 7 64 bit.

Now, the issue I have right now is, when starting a new game, Lokir just dies and vanishes, then the game crashes. It could be from any number of things.

The thing is, I have Automatic Variants, Dual Sheath Redux, Real Shelter and a Bash Patch. I have no idea which order to make those patches in. Also using SUM for the Reproccers.

Now I'm sure you know how SUM and Bash patches work, but maybe you are not familiar with Real Shelter's RSpatch.esp. The patch esp uses a script in TES5EDIT that takes in account every ESM, ESP and any ENB you have. So I assume that needs to be last, but what about the reproccers and Bash Patch?

I'll go ahead and attach the needed files below.

Also, ENB was crashing, but I think it was MSI Afterburner getting in the way.

the purple lanterns are from smim.

You may have done something strange with that mod.

ENBs are very subjective and are dependent on the situation.

Should I install the lanterns from SMIM then? The wiki says not too. I'll go ahead and install that then.

it say now to but that is the only thing that may accidentally been checked or the installer got messed up.

I was just pointing out that SMIM is the only thing that I think changes the lantern mesh.

Well using the lantern fix from SMIM fixed the purple textures. So far, the game looks amazing with Skylight ENB, but it's rather slow.

I'm going to try disabling Vsync and go with the FPS limiter instead to see how it runs. I'm used to screen tears anyways.

Any other tips on increasing performance?

Well see if your vanilla framerates are acceptable by disabling ENB with Shift-F12 if they are then do the following. First lower your shadow settings, then if that's not enough edit the ENB files as per Aiyen's guide from his ENB page or the ENBSeries INI guide on the wiki I'd do both.

The FPS with ENB disabled is decent. Depends on the area. With JK's Skyrim, cities are kinda laggy, but everywhere else runs great. Now what shadow settings should I try lowering? I don't want to screw up the ini.

Here's the link to the ENB Guide which ou should read as well as Aiyen's guide from his Skylight page.

https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENB

As for shadows try some things like the stuff from here.

https://forum.step-project.com/topic/3758-shadow-optimization/

After tweaking my shadows, I'm able to get anywhere from 39-45 fps with ENB enabled. That's good enough for me. I'll probably look into more ways to squeeze performance out of my game like Gamebooster or something.

Maybe I'll try overclocking again.

I seem to still be getting the ILS. It happens randomly when I go inside or fast travel. Is the memory patch not working?

SKSE.ini:

[General]

ClearInvalidRegistrations=1

[Memory]
DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768
ScrapHeapSizeMB=256

[Display]
iTintTextureResolution=2048

I'll start the memory blocks log up now and post that when it happens next. With my luck it won't happen.

Edit: I also have this issue with MO. When I opened MO after forcing Skyrim to close after that last ILS, MO reorded my ESP's in alphabetical order and disabled them all.

Edit 2:

So I wasn't able to get the ILS, but it did crash randomly while I was giving my follower some stuff to carry.

On another note, I was using 3DNPC, that NPC mod that adds in a ton of voice acted NPC's and I'm not sure if it was caused by that mod, or if it was something else, but the follower from that mod would refuse to follow me, I would start walking one way, then he would turn around and run away and hide behind a building. I wasn't able to see if Sven would act the same way as the game crashed before I could test it out.

Could it have something to do with the pathing system, and JK's Skyrim adding in new stuff to the town?

I highly recommend clicking the "create backup" for when that happens.

Yeah, I saw that and clicked it. Also, I updated my previous post.

There is likely something between 3DNPC and EFF.

if by pathing system you mean navmesh then JK shouldn't touch any of that because he uses a different method to put holes in the navmesh.

What do you mean by EFF? I'm not so good with acronyms.

Also, the Memory Blocks Log shows block 1 at 512mb even though I have it set to 768. Why isn't it showing it as 768? Would setting it to 512 fix issues with random crashing with no errors?

Well to be honest I can't remember right now why exactly it says 512 when you have 768 but I think it usually does your value - 256. EFF is Extensible Follower Framework.
