d3v Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) SO once again I'm re-starting STEP and just reached the closed-face helmet mod which requires you to download 4 patches, but STEP guide does not say weather to merge, replace or rename when installing each of the 4 patches one after the other?? "Improved Closefaced Helmets --FULL SET-- V0_9""Improved Dawnguard helmets""Improved Closefaced Helmets -- Dragonborn Addon -- 0_9""improved imperial full face helmet - no cloth around the neck-"anyone know? Edited August 29, 2014 by d3v
0 DoubleYou Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Either merge or rename. The choice is yours.
0 d3v Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) Ok I just merged all 4 of them.Another question, is a CTD after 2.D fixes normal? LOOT says it's due to consistant older people requiring "bring out your dead" mod that comes later in the STEP guide. Another question, regarding static meshes improvement mod, STEP says to specifically download SMIM v1-72 main file and the SMIM Update to 1-73 from 1-72 optional file. Do I do this even though the mod has been updated to SMIM 1-74? Also regarding the Skyrim Realistic Overhaul mod that I downloaded from a torrent, in what order do I install these three 7z archives in? Also upon installing each z7 archive, do I name them the same mod, so that they install into a single mod on the left pane of MO and merge in to one another, becuase I remember last time I did STEP all three 7z archives installed themselves into a different mod on the left pane! Another question, ragarding the last mod of section 2.F. Conflicting Graphics; A Quality World Map STEP recommends the Hi-Res Quality World Map - Main Roads optional file and DO NOT install Clear Map Add-on.Does this mean I DO NOT download the main "Quality World Map Installer" file, and indeed ONLY download and install the optional file? Edited August 30, 2014 by d3v
0 DoubleYou Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Use the non-BOYD version of Consistent Older People. SMIM needs update to instructions. Use 1.74 version only. SRO just merge them doing 1.1, then 1.6 update, then Dawnguard. A Quality World Map can simply install the optional file OR use the installer and install that option and NOT Clear Map addon. Doesn't make a difference.
0 d3v Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Ok but if I'm installing STEP extended, shouldn't I install the BOYD mod later in the guide? Regarding SRO, each of the three 7z archives installed themselves in to a seperate mod on the left pane of MO, is this ok or should I manually merge the three mode together inside the MO/Mods directory?
0 DoubleYou Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 If installing BOYD, Consistent Older People should use the BOYD version, but you won't be able to use it until you install BOYD later in the guide. It doesn't matter for SRO as long as the Dawnguard and Update are after the main.
0 d3v Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 (edited) Great thanks for the help, but I need more! Regarding AMidianBorn_Book_of_Silence. The Creatures pack of this mod STEP states This is the piece that conflicts (and should overwrite) Bellyaches Creatures. (Bellyaches Creatures mod was installed in the previous section 2.H) and indeed upon installing the Creatures pack in MO asks me wheather I want to merge, replace or rename. Which of these three do I choose to do? p.s when I choose the rename option it defaults at aMidianBorn Book of Silence - Armors instead of Creatures. Should I choose rename and name it aMidianBorn Book of Silence - Creatures? Or just choose merge or replace?? pps it seems each of the aMidianBorn packs wants to install themselves into the aMidianBorn Armors mod? Do I just click merge for them all or rename them in to seperate mods, appropriately named wit the respective pack? Edited August 30, 2014 by d3v
0 d3v Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Also in regards to the aMidianBorn content addon STEP says to "Place this mod directly under the aMidianBorn Book of Silence mod in your load order" however STEP says nothing about having to choose rename at the prompt in order for it to become a mod of it's own rather than merge in to the aMidianBorn Book of Silence - Armors mod???
0 Nozzer66 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 For that mod, I install everything separately, just to make it easier to change stuff. So I'd install the armor one first as aMidianBorn Armor, then for example, use Rename and install Creatures as aMidianBorn Creatures etc. The content add-on is added separately as well. But Installing all of them into one merge works as well. Either way is perfectly workable.
0 d3v Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Ok I procceded with installing all seven components of aMidianBorn mod as seperate mod names. Specifically regarding the final component; the content addon; isn't it actually neccesary and not optional, to install this as a RENAME option (seperate mod), due to... Meta Rule InstructionsaMidianBorn_ContentAddon.espLoad after:BetterQuestObjectives.esp
0 Nozzer66 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 (edited) No, cause whether you merge it or not that esp will be available and able to be moved around. But as said above, I always install that entire mod as component parts. Edited August 30, 2014 by Nozzer66
0 d3v Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 Ok thanks for the help I'm getting better and better with skyrim modding but I've still got a lot to learn
0 PingouinMalin Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Hi, Checking my install of extended, there is something about book of silence and its content addon I don't get. The guide states : "Place this mod [i.e content addon] directly under the aMidianBorn Book of Silence mod in your load order" Ok, I got the previous steps right but my book of silence files (I use the separate ones available on nexus) contain no .esp whatsoever, apart from the skyforge one (which STEP removes) and the content addon on. The armors, weapons, uniques, creatures are just textures and meshes. So I don't understand that part about load order. Anything I'm doing wrong ?
0 DoubleYou Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 It is referring to the priority order of your modlist (installation order) in the Left Pane. Content Addon must be after the others.
0 Nozzer66 Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Which is why I install them all as separate units. :)
0 PingouinMalin Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Thanks Double you. All is good then. Shouldn't the guide use the phrase "installation order" instead of "load order" (or is it just me who thinks load order refers to the right panel) ?
