AddictedxGamer Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 Stress testing.... To me a crash is a crash. Doesn't matter...stressing the game as we do with speed multi 1500 is close to a heated battle with 15 players throwing spells around and a couple followers, so ya a crash is a crash. The pic i posted was from my longest run , i did not crash i got board...lol. I have done 10 or so Stress tests ranging in time from 5 mins to 45 mins..have not once crashed.I'm not sure I understand... Are you saying that it's alright to crash, or that you should never crash with a stable game, no matter what? It sounds like the latter of the two, but I'm not sure.In the past when I've done some testing, I crashed even with a completely vanilla game. It wouldn't always happen, but when it did, the time it took to happen would vary. Sometimes it was 5 minutes, others it was 15, and sometimes I got bored after 20 and stopped on my own. Does that mean that even my completely vanilla game isn't stable?
camaro_69_327 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Like you, I've set up categories within the Mod Organizer. To do this, I created "Dummy Mods" inside the Mod OrganizerMods directory with the name of each category. Inside each folder is an empty text document of the same name, which is then zipped into an archive and installed into the Mod Organizer. This will allow me to easily place non-STEP mods within the appropriate category without much fuss. Look at the PIC i posted above...on the FAR left side....right click >"Edit Categories" in the menu that shows up...right click . "Add " type the name of the Categories you want, you can even drag them around...:)
camaro_69_327 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) That's just my opinion...most say the Stress test is overboard, and that if you can make it 5 mins you are stable...Test with varies amounts...try 500, 800 , 1000 , 1500, reverse order, if you crash at 1500, lower it ... EDIT...sorry double post ..tired...going to bed...lol Edited July 29, 2014 by camaro_69_327
redirishlord Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 My idea of stress testing is playing the game and starting as many conflicts as possible and encouraging them to escalate. By escalate I mean kiting wolves into a bandit encounter area (SkyTest + OBIS) and starting a forest fire with BurnFreezeShock FX/Deadly Spell Impacts/Fire & Ice Overhaul. The CH script latency checker is handy to point you towards scripts or vram when fps drop while running around outside combat (so you can decide whether to cut/opt your 2k exterior textures, dial down your enb effects or make to decisions on scripted mods depending on what is killing performance).

With the expandable categories containing the respective mods that go in each one, I mean. I want mine to look like that!EDIT: Oh, I got it. I went back to the Mod Organizer Wikipedia page and found out how to do it. I was able to set the categories using your post, but the guide showed me how to get the groups to display like that. Thanks! EDIT...sorry double post ..tired...going to bed...lolSo there's really no definitive answer? :O_o: That's annoying, lol. Maybe I'll just run a series of tests and record how long I go for on each one, then figure out the average time I was able to go. I actually fly down on locations to discover them, and to trigger any enemies in the area.I have no idea how to use the feature of Convenient Horses that you're talking about though. Edited July 29, 2014 by ADD1CTED_GAM3R

Does that mean that even my completely vanilla game isn't stable? Based on that, I'd say if it takes anywhere between 5-15 minutes before your game crashes during a stress-test, your (modded) game is pretty stable.Of course the longer it lasts the more stable it is, but in your case, at 15 it could probably be considered stable, and at (minimum) 5 it's probably good enough already. I have no experience stress-testing though, so take that with a grain of salt :P As a general approach, personally I recommend going through the Packs, picking out a few that you like, and then installing them one by one. Just skip mods that you don't want from these packs. You can use MO's categories in the same as with the STEP guide, just using the Packs' categories, mod order, and any instructions.Makes the process straight-forward and more modular, so troubleshooting is easier. Also don't forget to check the Conflicts tab in MO for any mods with the lightning icon.Personally I really like REGS and MMO:https://wiki.step-project.com/Pack:Modular_Morrowloot_Overhaulhttps://wiki.step-project.com/Pack:Explorers_Guide Edited July 31, 2014 by bur
PingouinMalin Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Hi, I have installed my STEP extended but I keep looking at all those marvelous mods included in the packs (Frostfall, CWO, Immersive patrols, Requiem and so on...). I know many packs (if not all) are compatible with STEP Core and Extended or even Revisited (which I want to try). And I know many can work together, as said in their description. But I am not a sensible man : is Extended (or revisited) + 3 or 4 packs even possible (let's say Modular Morrowloot overhaul or Requiem + REGS + Weather + War Ensemble) ? Or am I being far too optimistic ? Please, don't make me cry. If possible in theory, has anyone made it and if yes again, what kind of rig could be used to achieve that ? I am under the impression that the Requiem pack would be a nightmare to use in such conditions (this mod just seems to need patches for EVERYTHING !).
