Help me understand BSA extraction.

I am hoping someone knowledgeable will help me decide if I should be extracting BSAs. What are the pros and cons, what are examples of mods that I should or shouldn't do it with, how does it affect stability and the new install order tool, If I don't extract them will I still be able to hide texture files so that I can choose what texture s I want to use, and ect. From what Tannin has said latly I'm thinking it is a bad idea and am wondering if he is leaving or extracting his BSAs. I do know that extracting them affects load time but I am looking for a more in depth answer than that.

I'll keep it simple. Don't extract BSAs unless you need to manipulate files within the BSA. You cannot hide files that are within BSAs, so in that case you would have to extract it.
