TechAngel85 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Depends how you look at it: https://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-980X-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4670K Here's how the i7-4770K stacks up:https://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-980X-vs-Intel-Core-i7-4770K
phazer11 Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Unless you're going to try overclocking it I wouldn't bother getting the K. Here's a few more real world examples. As for what this actually means for the i5 4670k; it craps upon the i7 980X, if you consider a few things. 1. The 980X is a hexcore with hyperthreading (meanign that it has between 20-40% more efficient processing for multi-threaded applications), the i5 4670k is a quad core without hyperthreading. So it's winning across the board by in a fair number of cases by a 3 to 1 thread basis.2. Power consumption. Skyrim, largely doesn't need multithreading performance (it needs some it can make use of two IIRC) but for the i5 it would likely win in most cases because it's stronger thread per thread since both cpu's have more than one core.
Tarikko1 Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Now I realized that my CPU has been the bottleneck (long with my Mobo)... Time to start saving :)
