Your favorite (free) chat messenger

Hey guys,

 

in the wake of the WhatsApp take-over by Facebook, I'ld be interested in which mobile chat solution you guys use for your private or business matters.

I'm currently checking out Telegram. Even though it checks through your phone-book and match them to their cloud base, it's functionality is very similar to WhatsApp and it provides more security and more possibilities to communicate via media files.

 

Others I know of are:

Whistle.im

 

Which one do you prefer, are there better options out there and why do you have the best overall knowledge about this kind of stuff and your opinion counts more than any other ;-)

I have a billion free sms with my very expensive contract so I just use those. Nothing that is turned digital is to be considered "private" anyway.

I haven't used a chat messaging service in....years (besides Facebook chat which I only use if I'm on Facebook).
