lokkja Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Okay so as far as I understand step 4 is completely skipped by radeon users? This means I miss out on like what? Half the graphical upgrades? Is there any way around this?
0 frihyland Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 You can complain to AMD that they don't support game profiles like Nvidia does. Maybe they do and TC and I just don't know it, we got some knowledgeable people here with ATI cards that might be able to give you some pointers to alternative ways to achieve the same things. Did you do a search for ATI or AMD on the site? Bet you'll find all kinds of goodies.
0 Vond Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Everyone including AMD users can get SSAO via ENB anyway, and ENB SSAO looks better than NVIDIA SSAO does by far.
0 frihyland Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Good point vond, I'll include info that in the Post Processing Pack
0 blacksol Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 How about performance hit wise, how do nvidia v enb compare?
0 frihyland Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Well I can't run ssao from nvidia it trashes my fps down to a complete unplayable mess, with enb I still have about 10fps still not playable but better. Your mileage will vary based on the enb configuration.
0 Vond Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Any kind of SSAO will drop your FPS quite drastically. I still run everything at 35fps with ENB and a massively modded game both when it comes to texture overhauls and other mods, which is perfectly fine. That's with fps capped at 35 for stability, in certain areas it goes a lot higher if I don't cap it even with ENB's SSAO and improved shadows and godrays etc. My computer is good but not anything superspecial: i5 760 @2.80Ghz OC'd to 3.6Ghz 8gb RAM NVIDIA GTX 560 Ti-448 1280mb
0 z929669 Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 ATI radeon supports app profiles with CrossfireX drivers. Also see the wiki guide for ATI config tips.
0 lokkja Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 I have; Radeon 6970 2 GB DDR5 6 GB Ram i7 960 3.2 GHz I know performance will vary but I installed RCRN. If I want the SSAO experience should I uninstall RCRN and install an enb? How should I approach this? Thanks.
0 Vypir Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 ENB SSAO looks better than NVIDIA SSAO does by far. Know of any place that has screenshot comparisons of the two?
0 frihyland Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 screenshots are the worst possible way to compare, as the effects look vastly different based on your system and installed mods. We'll eventually work out a standardized procedure that will at least make screenshots somewhat useful but for now testing yourself is the only way.
