Bouncing around in opening scene

Question

Posted

So yeah, starting a new play through.

As soon as the bethesda loga and skyrim crud goes, the cart at the very begining of the game is bouncing around all over the place. Sometimes the cart is ok but then the horse tries to walk through the cliff on the left hand side.

Whats causing this?

I have checked all my mods for compatibility issues. I am upto date on all of my mods. I have run FNIS, very last of all, after bashed patches and SUM.

Before i begin the LONG LONG LONG arduous journey of turning mods on one by one...

Does anyone know of any issues that can cause this?

Is there something im missing?

Are there any know mods that cause this issue?

Here is my latest mod list

I have been using SR as a base for my mod list and tweaking it to my liking.

Im running Mod Organizer (NOT the latest beta)

I know this is  a big mod list, but i have had it running awesomely in the past. But with all the major updates to mods, I decided to start a fresh playthrough.

Newly added mods are just alternate textures packs, Complete Crafting Remade, Clock Widget, and some newer SkyRe patches.

As i say i've had my game running great for ages, but with the new Memory patches/SKSE version and all the updates, decided it was time to start from scratch. Im thinking that maybe IA v7 or CCOr could be causing this, but not directly. Possibly a conflict with another mod?

I was just testing around in the vanilla game earlier today (and I mean totally vanilla, as in just redownloaded the game and with the DLC deactivated) and the cart gloriously flipped around, started shaking, then continued the ride backwards (The horse and cart were facing towards Hadvar and backing up at normal speed). Had to restart another game to get it to work.

All I'm trying to say is that it's perfectly possible that it could just be the game derping as it likes to do even without mods... Maybe the game was running at higher than 60 FPS? Havok likes to cause havoc in carts when that happens.

I've got my FPS limited to 60 with ENB, might try lowering it to 55

I have been having this issue for about a week now. I've tried thousands of combinations and remade my SUM patch so many times im seeing it in my sleep.

Im possitive that its a conflict with one o my mods, but i really REALLY dont like the process of add one, try again, add one, try again, add one, try again, add one, try again, add one, try again, add one, try again, add one, try again, add one, try again, add one, try again.................

Im hoping someone out there has had this issue or knows of a reason why it happens. Wil try lowering the FPS limit though. Report back in 2 mins

Nope, that didnt work.

Tried taking out the reproccer and all its patches too, but no luck.

Just aswell MO has installation date on it....Im gonna try taking out all the mods installed/updated since it last worked and work from their. I have a sneaking suspicion its IA, but i haven't got a clue how it could be

OK IM SO DAM CONFUSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I fixed it....

Not by removing a mod

Not from the full re-install i have just done

Not by restoring the 60GB backup of my Mod Organizer folder (Thats 3 weeks out of date and missing all the new mods i chose)

Not by tweaking the ini files

Not by restoring Vannilla ini files

But....

By deleting the entire Skyrim folder in My Documents and letting the Launcher rebuild it.

This makes no sense. Because im not using the save files....Im starting fresh. The ini files are being used by Mod Organiser from its own profiles directory so its not those. The only things left are some log files, and the render info file.....It seems that somehow, the render info was causing my havok gen, to cause total havok ?!?!?!?!

Im glad this is sorted now, but if someone out there could explain to me how the hell this has fixed it, I would gladly give you a beer

But there was nothing in there....

Saves (Empty)

Logs (Papyrus)

SKSE (logs)

bash patch logs

Render Info

Ini's

Out of all of those the only ones actually being used by the game, is the render info file. All the others are either made by the game, or not used. And i though render info was just created by the launcher and then used as refference.

EDIT:

I do wonder now just howe many of my previous fits of rage quit and restart could have been fixed this way

After updating to the latest skse, and fixing a few issues with that. I began having this probkem again.

Sometimes it would bounce and sometimes it wouldnt. Still using EWI's ini files, and E ENB. But after some messing around, i found that by turning off ImmersiveFP and Face to Face it went away....5 starts and not a single bounce....figured out that ImmFP and face to Face dont play well together, and decided to leave out F2F for now. See how that goes.

I had this same problem too.  I thought it was because of Immersive Armors.  During the opening cart scene, Immersive Armors would be updating the armor in the game. It seemed like as soon as Ralof and Ulfric’s armor changed, the cart began flipping around. Sometimes the cart would be sideways when it got to Helgen and no one could get out and the game was unable to proceed.

I loaded the Alternate Start Live Another Life mod and let Immersive Armors and other mods update while waiting in the cell with the statute of Mara. As soon as everything finished, I picked the start choice that I got caught sneaking across the border. Ralof and Ulfric's armor was already changed and the opening cart scene worked perfectly.

That's what I've done too (wait at statue for all mods to load and register their MCMs), though I don't choose that beginning.

So I've been having this issue lately, and I have no idea why. I've just started the STEP install process and so far have only gotten to the first benchmark, so all I've done is install the Utilities and updated the ini's through MO. Other than that its a completely vanilla version of Skyrim, in fact I just formatted my PC yesterday and reinstalled Steam and Skyrim. Any help why this is happening and how to fix it at this point would be appreciated.

The only other thing I thought was a little odd is after installing Wrye Bash I do have a bashed patch showing up in my list of mods in MO despite having not used it for anything yet.

This issue is most often caused by the game engine bugging out when too many scripts are trying to initialise at once or because your monitor, and game are using a refresh rate above 60FPS and the 'Havok' engine is struggling to keep up.

Either temporarily disable scripted mods until you have passed the 'Helgen tutorial' or use an alternate start mod or limit your game engine to 59FPS. All those methods are either explained here or there are links to show what you need to do.

As for the 'Bashed Patch, 0.esp'. Nothing to worry about. When you install Wrye Bash it places an empty version in your mod list ready to use when you want to create your own. You just select that file in WB and 'Update'.

Alright, I've been trying to fix this for the last few hours and no luck. As far as disabling script heavy mods, I have no mods running at all. The only thing that's on is the Skyrim game, the DLC's, and the high res texture pack, all of which I can't modify in MO anyway. From what I've read it looks like my PC running the game at higher than 60 FPS is the issue, but I can't seem to slow it down. All of the things I've seen on how to enable vsync aren't working. I've put the iPresentInterval=1 into my skyrimprefs.ini, still high frame rates. I've tried forcing vsync through the NVIDIA software, but as soon as I exit out of the program it for some reason seems to default back to off despite me saving the settings. I've tried forcing it through nvidiainspector, but again no luck I'm still getting high frame rates. Anyone know whats going on here? How do I enable vsync and why are none of these things working?
