Computer doesn't display mod pages properly: "E" - Fix

Question

Posted

If you encounter this issue then please do the following:

  • Open up the problematic mod page and edit the url, so that it says "https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/[xyz]"
  • For some people there is the issue that they open the same page under https://nmm.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/[xyz]", which doesn't allow them to access the different tabs.

Old workaround:

  • Open up the problematic mod page
  • copy the mod ID (number at the end)
  • Go to the STEP guide (for example)
  • click any mod link to the nexus page there and select the Files tab
  • exchange the mod-id with the one of the problematic mod page
  • hit enter
  • you'll see the mod-files of the other mod on the problematic mod page
  • click on the "Files"-tab again
  • the correct download files will show up and you'll be able to access any of the tabs.

Original OP below:

Hey fellas,

since about 1 week ago, my computer doesn't display some mod pages properly. Whether I open them in Firefox or Internet Explorer, whenever I try to hit any green buttons or try to access any other sub page than the default loaded mod description I only get an "E", nothing else in the text box.

Does anybody know what could be causing this?

Only some pages are affected, almost any others not. Funnily only mod pages of mods loaded up to the nexus since 1 week ago.

It must be a browser issue. Does sb know of a plugin that could be causing this?

I tried:

-> Deleting all cookies and history

-> trying firefox and IE separately

-> logging out and trying

-> logging back in and trying

-> reboot

I only use Chrome and I never had this issue before. I could understand IE, as it's the worst browser ever, but FF should be spot on....

I just tried on IE11 and I couldn't recreate this. I haven't got FF installed. Maybe you have some kind of addon that blocks it? I've had an issue with my internet banking website some time ago, it wouldn't display properly. After few hours of troubleshoot it turned out it was Avast antivirus addon that prevented certain elements from being displayed O_o

OK, with Safari, I don't have the problem. Sucks however, since I don't like it.

Wow, this is just really random. Now it works on both browsers again, but only after I used an indirect link to the nexus first.

You know what? that really sucks.

So, I found a workaround for Firefox.

-Open up the problematic mod page

-copy the mod ID (number at the end)

-Go to the STEP guide (for example)

-click any mod link to the nexus page there and select the Files tab

-exchange the mod-id with the one of the problematic mod page

-hit enter

-you'll see the mod-files of the other mod on the problematic mod page

-click on the "Files"-tab again

-the correct download files will show up and you'll be able to access any of the tabs.
