Redferne Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 To this day and age, I still do not understand why having a DoF file is a pro for an ENB... once you have a file with the settings you like in ENB A, then you can use it in ENB B.Far too many people seem to think that all the files in a preset must be used or it will not work! So silly really! :) Actually I just mentioned it because Novalen wanted a subtle DoF and RV has multiple choice available.Personaly I hate DoF and I always disable it :)
Moragg Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 What's wrong with transparency AA? I use transparency+edge AA and it smooths out the edges pretty nicely.
Aiyen Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 The thing that is wrong with it is that if you are in a forest, and especially if you use SFO, or some other mod that introduces way more foilage (transparent textures) then it will kneel even the best of rigs. (We are talking up to 20+ FPS drops) The larger the amount of transparent textures, the higher the performance cost. If you just use it on a vanilla like install with very low grass amounts etc. then it will not be an issue. In general then the performance hit compared to what you get out of it is just absurd. But again it depends on your mod list and other settings, so for some it is a good option for sure.
Moragg Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I see, that's what was murdering my forest fps. I'm now able to keep 30, so thanks! This is very much for the future, but do the black bars improve framerates by reducing the amount to render? I ask because that could be crucial to achieving 60fps on the Oculus Rift, and from what I've heard much of the vertical space is "wasted" so to speak because of the human fov.
Neovalen Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 Unfortunately for Skyrim ENB its just an overlay. No perf change. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
nico53laval Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Why not go back to RealVision? IMO it gets the colors just right most of the time (maybe not realistic, but pleasing to the eye, fitting the overall Skyrim theme and not too vibrant) and sports a wide dynamic range and contrast.
SSL Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Neo, could you upload your enb inis as-is? I have strange problem with too-hardcore lighting outdoors (it figuratively burns my eyes out). I'll run them through diff to see what might be wrong.
Moragg Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 nico53laval - Neo just prefers Unreal Cinema. I tried it out and didn't particularly like it, if you don't you can just go back to Realvision.
dem1an Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Any updates on your impressions Neo? I'm liking Ruvaak Dahmaan ENB Redone.
Faylon Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 I really like Opethfeldt, it's super atmospheric. However, it's not compatible with CoT + ELFX though.
DanielCoffey Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Gopher has just showcased Phinix Natural ENB.. [video=youtube]
statmonster Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I reinstalled SRLE yesterday and used UC as Neo recommended. Very stable! The bleak colors really seemed to work - I usually like brighter saturated ones but these certainly gave a distinctive ambiance - though perhaps the fact that high today was -10 F matched my mood. Probably could use less DOF and blurriness - I didn't adjust any settings, I should probably fool around with that when I get a chance.
DanielCoffey Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 You can edit the DOF or you could turn it off and use Dynavision on Low.
ath3nos Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Somber is probably the closest to Unreal that you'll get imo. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
