MO not launching skyrim/skse

Question

Posted

launching skyrim through MO will not work at all. i can get it to launch the skyrim launcher but when i hit play nothing happens. if i launch skse through MO i just get a small blank black box window. if i launch skyrim.exe nothing happens. everything works launching it outside of MO but then i don't get the mods and everything. anyone know why?

WB "unpack to projects" is simply an extracted version of a mod package to allow more direct manipulation of contents. I never found it that useful. MO mods is similar to that extent, but MO mods is more selective in that only the package contents that it recognizes (or that you choose in some cases) will unpack ti those dirs.

@Phazer

I like using downloads area to install my customized packages, since it allows me to generate accurate metadata about the packages and track updates. Good to know about the manual method though, as it is more efficient for non-Nexus mods.

... still have not examined MO's asset-conflict interface yet, but will report back on another thread if I have anything useful to share.

Anyway, don't want to take this thread off track. There would seem to be some potentially useful info relating to the thread title here for a few poor saps ;)

I have been working my way through setting up Skyrim to use MO. Like Z I also use the Bash Installers folder as the equivalent of a download folder, especially since I already had a lot of mods there that I had already filtered and/or optimized with DDSopt. I do have two questions:

- I have Skyrim itself on an SSD (using the new Steam capability for multiple install directories). I have the Mod Organizer\Mods directory on the SSD. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to have MO itself on the SSD vs. on an HDD?

- I'd like to use some BCF files (e.g., the Visible Windows BCF) to prepare some mods before I optimize them and then install them into MO. I know MO has a BCF plugin, but does it put the output into the Mods directory or somewhere else? I need to take the output and move it elsewhere so I can optimize the mod and/or make any other changes needed. Can I do this with the file resulting from using the MO BCF plugin?

or should I move this question to another thread?

Creating a new thread is best I think. In the advanced tab of MO wiki there is a section "migrating from WB to MO" which has some basic information. New knowledge in the newly created thread will be transferred to this section as well. I know WB-users (who don't use it for a bashed patch.esp only) are pretty computer savy (it seems) but still I think this could be useful.
