first foremost, I show gratitude to the STEP team.

fresh STEP 2.3 installation and so for I've only had an issue with purple armor that I can't solve.

Use MIC to identify the mesh and textures and what mod(s) is providing them. It's not an issue in the Step build, AFAIK, and nobody else has seen this problem.

If you are using a different body mod than Step (UNP vanilla), this issue could be a result of that.

oh yeah. it's a keen observation.
I'm using `Tempered Skins for Males - Nude Version` which deviates from the STEP guide

I imagine this is what's causing the issue. it's just a feeling.

I don't know what specific information could help me debugging this. but i got this information with MIC.

No, Tempered skin for males is a texture compatible with the vanilla body and is used in Step.

You did not select the armor.

In MIC, you need to click on the armor specifically. Get closer or use the mouse wheel to cycle through the objects in the area you clicked until you see something about armor. You can hover the mouse over the NIF and textures then press the space bar to drill into those.

Revisit the installation of aMidianborn Content Addon.

Filter to Armor\Iron\Male\CuirassLightGND.nif in MO Data tab of right pane.

It seems you are missing those textures: textures\amb variants\unique sets\ironpride\cuirassmale.dds

Otherwise, some other mod is providing Armor\Iron\Male\CuirassLightGND.nif and you are missing the textures.

Then the issue might be specific to that particular reference or some conflict in your plugins or save. This NPC looks correct in Step.

Test by traveling to some other location or using a new game. Use the console to spawn this NPC:

player.placeatme 013643

I have examined this exact reference and have no issues.

I assume your issue is due to something related to texture sets defined by plugins. You will need to investigate using xEdit. If you are using Base Object Swapper, then that might explain it.

If you are running the pure Step build, you won't have this problem, so if that's what you intended, then something else is in the mix.
