Question

I downloaded and installed DynDOLOD from NexusMods a few hours ago.  (Version 3.00 Alpha 99)

Running the TexGen portion the first time, I received the following error message (text version):

[Window Title]
TexGen

[Main Instruction]
Skyrim.ini can not be found.

[Content]
The INI file is missing from its default location at D:\Games\Mod Tools\DynDOLOD\Themes\Windows10BlackPearl.v\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\Skyrim.ini.

Current game mode: Skyrim Special Edition (SSE)

Click on this link for additional explanations and help for this message

[OK] [Exit TexGen]

[Footer]
Online Help | Support Forum | Copy message to clipboard

After an hour or so of attempting to find a resolution and also trying to find a TexGen.ini and not finding anything that addressed the message above, I created the folder path listed in the error message and copied my skyrim.ini to it.

Now TexGen now works as expected.  I thought I should give you a heads up.

Upload the log and debug log as explained at https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Post-Logs

What are the command line arguments that TexGen is started with?
Typically xEdit/xLODGen/TexGen/DynDOLOD do not look for game INI files in their own folders.

Creating folders and copying INI files - or doing anything else weird that is not part of the documentation - is a strong hint that something is going wrong that should not be going wrong. The cause should be fixed and not worked around.

Sorry, will post logs this time. And will be more careful with the lines..

The command line I am using now is [ -m:"C:\Users\(my name)\Έγγραφα\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition GOG" ]

Using Skyrim Special Edition Data Path: D:\Games\TES - Skyrim - Anniversary Edition\Data\
Using Scripts Path: D:\Dyndolod\DynDOLOD\Edit Scripts\
Using Temp Path: C:\Users\(My Name)\AppData\Local\Temp\TexGen_SSE\
Using Output Path: D:\Dyndolod\DynDOLOD\TexGen_Output\
Using ini: C:\Users\(My Name)\Έγγραφα\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition GOGSkyrim.ini
Fatal: Could not find ini
Error: Skyrim Special Edition GOGSkyrim.ini can not be found. The INI file is missing from its default location at C:\Users\(My Name)\Έγγραφα\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition GOGSkyrim.ini. Current game mode: Skyrim Special Edition (SSE)

The first line is weird as well... my folder's name is "Skyrim Anniversary Edition" and not "TES - Skyrim - Anniversary Edition" unless this doesn't matter at all, if so, sorry.

? Am I missing something again like I did with the commands? Thank you for your time and patience.:help::help: I love these emojis

Really read the examples from https://dyndolod.info/Mods/Skyrim-Special-Edition-GOG-Skyrim-Anniversary-Edition-GOG#Installation. The path set with the -m command line argument is missing the trailing \
That the last \ is missing before the Skyrim.ini can be seen in the log line that says "C:\Users\(My Name)\Έγγραφα\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition GOGSkyrim.ini"

Unless you also set the data folder with the -d command line argument as explained at https://dyndolod.info/Mods/Skyrim-Special-Edition-GOG-Skyrim-Anniversary-Edition-GOG#Installation, the tools will use the data folder found in the Windows Registry.

If further help is required, see which log and debug log to upload at https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Post-Logs.

Thank you for the answer, i will do that way from now on, apologize for that, i'm new here.

I have already read the readme about ini. files, i had issues with ini like this before, usually starting the launcher to update registry log with game directory solved the issue, but not in this case, i've checked registry and game path is correct

I'm not home atm so i cannot copy/paste specifically command line in arguments but as i've checked yesterday it was:

-sse -D: D:\Skyrim Ultimate Project\Stock game\Data

This is extremaly odd, because day before Dyndolod was working perfectly fine, i was able to generate lod without issues, yesterday i have changed few texture mods, so i need to regenerate lod, TexGen working without issues with the same command line arguments.

See https://dyndolod.info/Help/Command-Line-Argument how to use the -d, -m etc. command line switch correctly.

The path needs to be enclosed in straight double quotes " and follow directly after the colon :

Setting the data path should not affect the INI or plugin paths, though.

If a programs works differently, it means something changed.

-sse -D:"D:\Skyrim Ultimate project\Game Root\Data"

Here's the command line argument i'm using. Should i change it?

Just tried to start TexGen, same error..

I can't understand why does it try to find ini file in \Themes\ ? That's really odd

Started game launcher also didn't fix the problem

xEdit uses a Windows OS function to query for the path. It might get confused if access is denied.

If command line arguments are used to instruct to use a non default INI path, double check the arguments are set and passed to the tools correctly.

See the examples at https://dyndolod.info/Help/Command-Line-Argument or https://dyndolod.info/Mods/Skyrim-Special-Edition-GOG-Skyrim-Anniversary-Edition-GOG#Installation):
-m:"c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition GOG\"

Different arguments should be separated by space, while there should be no spaces between path arguments and the colon and the path. A path should always be enclosed between double quotes. Use copy and paste to avoid mistakes, like adding extraneous spaces between the command letter, colon and beginning double quotes.

Note the trailing back slash \ in the example.
-m:"C:\Users\Sam\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition GOG\"

Also doublecheck the other command line arguments. -d misses \data\ at the end and -p misses \plugins.txt
