Crash when I fast travel to Dawnstar

Edit: It happens any time I get close to or inside Dawnstar

From the crashlog you posted:

• ??? > "Hired Bodyguard" > FemaleHeadBreton > facegen (origin of NPC is unknown as it's a spawned NPC)
• ASLAL.esp > "Shady Sam" > MaleHeadBreton > facegen

One of these NPCs may have corrupt/invalid facegen mesh.

Since ASLAL's "Shady Sam" is always in Dawnstar, and the spawned NPC is probably not, it would seem "Shady Sam" may be the culprit.

You'd need to look at several crash logs to confirm if "Shady Sam" is always involved in the crash while others are not.

Try approaching Dawnstar from the opposite side of Shady Sam. He hangs around the jetty or in the small fenced "garden" next to the inn.

You can also try to (temporarily) disable him in the console, before approaching Dawnstar:

disable

See if it still crashes with him gone.

The id is apparently invalid, so I could not disable him

Seems he's attached to alternate start (didn't realize that until now) and I used the old se version I transferred from my old laptop, and I guess that screwed up his facegen

Removed Alternate Start (Didn't really need it) and Dawnstar is now fine

ASLAL is Alternate Start - Live Another Life. You can hover your cursor over the underlined abbreviation, and a tooltip should show what it means.
