Even after running TexGen and then DynDOLOD, I have vanilla Whiterun LODs

RockGodOne

Question

yDTWnat.jpg

That is what my game looks like outside of Whiterun. The only reason the stonewalls are correct is because I'm standing right outside the horse stables and am close enough. But the stoneroad texture is off but most annoyingly is the vanilla ugly yellow roofs. I use Noble Skyrim as a base and have Skyrim 2018, 2019 and 2020 all overwrite it. I don't think there is a single vanilla texture left in my game so why am I seeing vanilla LODs like this?

For clarification's sake, this is how I ran TexGen (I did all of this thru MO2):

1. Ran LOOT to get my load order in order

2. Made sure prior TexGen Output folder and DynDOLOD Output folder were deleted

3. Ran TexGen

4. When finished, right clicked on the TexGen Output folder and selected "Add to Archive"

5. Moved the newly created archive of the TexGen folder into MO2, placed at the bottom of the mod list and activated it

6. Ran DynDOLOD

7. In the Advanced window, I clicked on "High", then selected all of the available worldspaces, scrolled down to the "tree" section, made my selections and hit ok.

8. After about 30 minutes, DynDOLOD finishes and I do the exact same to the DynDOLOD Output folder as I did to the TexGen Output folder in step 4 and 5, placing it below TexGen Output and activating it

DynDOLOD Resources is above everything that touches meshes and textures.

How do I fix this?

With Noble Skyrim I recommend using HD LODs Textures SE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/3333

t looks like DynDOLOD cannot generate wrbuildingslod01.dds (which you will see remote rooftops, otherwise it will use Vanilla's default color)

HD LODs

Vanilla

DynDOLOD does not seem to touch them.

And if you use different textures, you'll have to fix them yourself. Sorry, maybe i can't describe exactly but maybe that's what you were looking for and sorry about my English xD.

Is there a reason DynDOLOD cannot generate that file? That's a pretty jarring limitation? I've never altered any textures myself, so how would I do that?

This question will probably have to wait for Sheson to answer. I cannot answer it. Haha

Someone already created it for you, just download and install :)

But I'm trying to have matching LODs. Noble Skyrim is just a base. Pretty much everything inside of Whiterun is overwritten by Skyrim 2020, The roof color kind of match but the stone wall texture is way off so I'm trying to find out how to make it myself unless someone else who knows better is willing to do it for me. I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to altering mods, even just textures.

As explained in the TexGen manual, pre-rendered LOD textures can not be automatically created from single full textures.

This is a bit experimental and doesn't work for pre-rendered textures like the town LOD textures, distant mountain peaks or glaciers for example. Having a look at the object LOD source textures like textures\lod\wrbuildingslod01.dds for town buildings and comparing them to tileable landscape textures makes it clear. The town LOD textures are rendered from the full models and not a simple derivative of a full texture. They were then processed with an image program to create the final LOD textures.

Compare the images posted by ntluan_vn to simple LOD textures that are directly derived from the full textures. The difference is obvious. Pre-rendered textures are side views of complete models.

If you have a mod that changes the full textures for these models, the mod should also include updated pre-rendered object LOD textures.

Skyrim 2020 by pfusher has been out since January 2020 and he never included matching LOD textures for his 2018 or 2019 mods AFAIK so I doubt he will include them for Skyrim 2020. Is there a way I could do this myself? I don't want to use the HD LODS mods since, although the roofs are closer to what they look like, the stone walls absolutely are not

It is an unfortunate reality of most town texture overhauls.  Almost none of them have the files needed for lod generation and texgen cannot create them.  Noble Skyrim luckily has HD Lod SE... But you're pretty much out of luck for most city architecture textures.  Illustrious whiterun has some lods but it is incomplete.  If you want perfect matching LODs it's gotta be Noble + HD Lod, or Skyrim Realistic Overhaul.

Please, can you tell me where did you find green lod textures for the Whiterun tundra?

Today I've made a add-on for Verdant, which changes the tundra grass from yellow to green, and I installed green ground textures from Septentrional Landscapes to fit with it.

However, Septentrional dont have a lod texture, and TexGen is not generating it from the terrain dds (I've build with 512, I'm trying higher values right now). So I get this ugly, dismaying yellow texture in the background: https://imgur.com/4MyWPYK

So far, I found this lod texture in the LE section: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/60215

But it is too dark, as you can see in this picture: https://imgur.com/itnD3Fp

Do you know of any alternative for a green lod? It just needs to fit with the near terrain.
