Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

Neo' date=' do you plan on including overhauls like Requiem or SkyRe or the upcoming project from Tendo? If not, will you include mods that alter the combat mechanics or the perks?[/quote']

I think an overhaul of the perks, leveling and combat is the only thing really missing from SR : LE, but I just don't want to start a game with SkyRe or Requiem or whatever knowing it would probably cause a lot of conflicts :/

I have played and thoroughly enjoyed SkyRe, but I prefer modular perk overhauls personally. Stealth Skills Rebalanced and Enchanting Awakened (though the second has SkyRe compatibility) are great perk overhauls imo. SSR keeps me from getting bored out of my skull with a stealther (otherwise too easy and no real need for pickpocketing or lockpicking) and I always actively HATED the enchanting feature until EA.

Speaking of perk overhauls, have you guys ever tried out TheThirdRace Skill Overhaul?  I'm surprised it isn't more well known, I came across it quite by accident a few months ago and finally found in it the perk overhaul for me.  It is actually very close to vanilla, it just improves it and makes it a bit more fun.  The method he used was to take the best parts of all the great perk mods out there and put them into one whole.  I have tried SPERG, SkyRe, ACE, Treebalance, and a few other less well known ones and I always like bits and pieces of them but never the whole thing.  So this guy seems to have found those best parts and put them together, like using Kryptophyr's Stealth Skills Rebalanced, slightly modified, for the stealth skills.

I had a hard time finding a good skill overhaul until I came across this one.  It's very simple, lightly scripted, and modular.  I actually use Empowered Magic for the magic skills (which is an awesome mod by the way), but TTRSO works great for all of them.

Lovely shot!

Out of interest, do you like the letterbox because it allows the HUD elements to be against a black background and out of the main playing area or does the letterbox increase performance by limiting the amount the GPU has to render?

I like letterbox cause of the UI elements being on black (my settings are tailored that way as well. I also like it because the game feels more "epic story" with them there... at least to me. There is no performance diff on or off since its just an overlay.

Oh, and has anyone else noticed how low-res Paarthurnax is when talking to him with face to face conversation?

Yes, going to readd the dragon texture pack very soon. :)

I wasn't talking about complete overhauls specifically' date=' I'd be fine with several mods. I don't remember the name of it but the mod which enables you to cut throats etc. when sneaking would be a fine addition too, along with a combat/magic overhaul etc.[/quote']

Sneak Tools? There's a patch too that really refines the original, and lets you use the MCM to toggle certain functions. Not using it right now but I have in the past :) I thought a lot of it was pretty overpowered but parts of it was also really fun.

Empowered Magic is my preferred magic overhaul. Allows scaling with skill in the different schools and allows runes/bolts to function as sneak attacks, among some nice balance fixes.

... I hope this isn't too off topic >.>;
