Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

Dear NEO,

If and when you have time ( please also let me know if I should post these kind of questions somewhere else )

But I was wondering about the following 2 MODs if they are of interrest to SR-LE.

1. Falskaar - Climates of Tamriel patch.

2. Falskaar - Realistic Needs and Diseases Patch

Haven't had a chance to look at them close enough yet to make a determination. Soon.

Edit: Discussed with Aiyen and he says the Falskaar CoT patch should work fine with their weather patch, so going to add that soon. RND patch seems good as well.

Speaking of which, is there a concise guide anywhere explaining the meaning of the different colors in TES5Edit? I figured out some, but not every color.

In TES5Edit, there's a tab called "Information" at the bottom of the right hand part of the window:

Background color:

White - Single Record

Green - Multiple but no conflict

Yellow - Override without conflict');

Red - Conflict

Text color:

Black - Single Record

Purple - Master

Gray - Identical to Master

Orange - Identical to Master but conflict Winner');

Green - Override without conflict

Orange - Conflict winner

Red - Conflict loser

Woo-hoo! Lots of updates today!

Arthmoor's Run for Your Lives and Vampires Attack are must haves. I'm wondering if Arthmoor's newish Cutting Room Floor (47327) is also worth getting - seems interesting but will it conflict with too many mods?

Deadly Dragons also has a nice feature to prevent crucial NPCs from getting killed.

It's nice to see that you are occasionally able remove some of the compatibility patch lines you are creating - I take this as a sign that many mod authors (or patchers) are improving the compatibility of their mods out of the box with recent revisions.

You are correct sir.

A quick question about stability : I'm running everything in the guide (+ the uncapper, SkyRe with ReProccer, Character Creation Overhaul, Apachii, Temptress Race, AutoSave Manager, DUal Wield Parrying) and I'm sometimes getting random crashes, sometimes it'll crash after 20 min, sometimes I'll be able to play for hours on end. Is this to be expected, or am I alone in this? If the latter is the case, does it mean I should start a new save since some mods were removed from the guide in the last revisions (meaning I got the message about missing esps)? However, they're not too annoying for now, since I use AutoSave Manager.

Hello again, just wanted to let you know Neo, since it has the same version number you probably won't notice in MO,

but the author of Improved Closefaced Helmets has added a -- Dragonborn Addon -- 0_9 last month.

Updated. Thanks for reminding me, I had noticed but forgot in the holiday hussle.

Also had a question, sorry... - I see the Dual Sheath Redux already has a patch available for the De-LARPification Project, any word of advice on whether or not to use De-LARP mod in combination with the SR-LE setup ?

I used to use DeLarp but to be honest the sword thickness hasn't been bugging me while playing the game... will see as things progress.

This to be expected. Even when fully conflict resolved and properly set up Skyrim is not bug free nor the best engine and is prone to CTD even in vanilla. That being said, SR:LE is very stable in its present form. I cannot speak for SkyRe, CCO, etc. as I do not have them in the guide. Safety Load, while preventing infinite load screen issues can sometimes cause the game to crash opening a menu (I have not seen this myself). If thats where most of your CTD occur, you could try changing the Safety Load ini setting to only be active during load screens, but that removes freeze protection during combat. If you can live with one CTD every 30 minutes to 3 hours, I would leave it alone... well worth not having the dreaded combat freeze or ILS bug that requires a complete reboot when in full screen. A CTD just requires a quick reload.

Also, would you recommend installing Interesting NPCs or does it cause too many conflicts?

I've seen some people use it without issue, I have not tried it for a prolonged period to give you an indication either way.

I used to use this a lot.  However my understanding is that some of the early work on this used TES5Snip which can lead to save game issues down the road (or not if the author got lucky).  Also, anything which adds a lot of scripts or NPCs will tend to make the game unstable.  (My crude understanding is that every extra NPC you have to spawn and apply scripted "cloaks" etc to the more you are eating into the resources the game needs to run. If you have lots of HD textures, NCP and scripts then it will reach a breaking point - you have to decide what you want.) Finally you will need to build a compatibility patch with TES5Edit for this and SR-LE as it edits so many items in the world - does Interesting NPCs have good pre-made compatibility patches these days?.

However ultimately it was probably not these issues which had me stop using it but rather Interesting NPCs just gets tedious - so many very complicated dialogs to click through...  The first time or two you run into all the NPCs hearing their long background stories is interesting - but after a while it just gets old - it's like being surrounded by old friends who tell the same old boring (and LONG) stories every time you see them.  If it weren't for the issue in my first paragraph I would probably be willing to keep using them and just rapidly click through the tedious bits, but given that I find much of it to be tedious it's not worth running the risks above.  (Still it's a great mod with some very interesting characters and fun to play with once or twice.)

If I could just pick a couple of my favorites to play with that might work too - but last I used it you could not.
