Question

Ok, so after installing STEP extended, I started my character and right at the dragon battle, these are some images that don`t look right to me. They seem to burned, contrast is too high in some situations. Maybe somene can tell me what is going on with it:

Look this YT video. It shows how to disable End-of-Frame Image Space (what would that be?) that in turn disable HDR, bloom and some other Skyrim image effects. It literally remove my reported lighting issue.

Practically I give up. Too many, way too many issues: no enb, aura around characters (fixed in ini`s, but messing shadows) and now lightning issues that I can`t identify.

It took me one week to install step. I really don`t know where I messed things up. Anyway, although STEP is really well made, still lacks in some points the clarity needed for those that really follow orders rather than truly understand what they are doing (I am one of those noobs - hello).

For now, if lightning can`t be fixed, I won`t be reinstalling STEP again soon. Maybe waiting for next version.

STEP is not designed for the absolute noob. We expect users to have the basics of modding and the tools used for modding. However, we're always willing to help. I'm just going to try to get a baseline on where to start troubleshooting by asking for the basic information we'll need to help.

Did you test by running your game periodically while installing the Guide?

Did you install all of STEP or did you skip any mods in the Guide? If you skipped mods, please list them.

Did you install any mods that weren't in the Guide? If so, what are they?

Please post your:

  • Skyrim.ini (from your profile in MO, not the game default one)
  • SkyrimPrefs.ini (also from your profile in MO, not the game default one)
  • enblocal.ini

You can post them in spoiler tags by using the third icon to the right on the top formatting bar.

Ok, I am a noob that really does his homework. ;) Except, doing my homework I`ve got lost in it. So I really apreaciate the help!!!

I did the benchmark (carriage intro until first autosave) after every subsection of STEP. I have to say that, even now, running the carriage intro the light doesn`t look weird. So, I have no ideea WHEN this lighting weirdness occured.

I install ALL STEP mods, at their highest quality (where available). I didn`t skipped any of the mods EXCEPT Skyrim Enhanced Camera (I believe at your advice, as it was worsening my flickering).

I didn`t install any other mod EXCEPT Crash Fixes v11 for it made it possible to circumvent CTD after STEP complete install.

Not installing Skyrim Enhanced Camera wouldn't have caused this.

I'm not familiar with Crash Fixes myself, so I don't know if it has any settings to do with lighting. You shouldn't have been getting any crashes though from STEP. That's a bit of a flag right there.

Do you have any missing master errors?

I'm guessing you ran LOOT?

Did you install the right version of ELE?

Did you do any changes in the video drivers other than what's listed in the Guide?

Do you have the STEP Patch plugin installed and active?

What version of Windows are you running?

Do you have MO managing the archives from the Archive tab in MO? Are all the archives checked?

Did your Batched Patch run without errors?

I'm just reaching for that "ah ha!" moment since I've never before seen this issue produced from a STEP build.

I do run LOOT every time I change something inside MO. In LOOT, I have no master errors.

The ELE is the one for STEP, 86kb in size.

Nvidia Inspector settings are as prescribed in the guide.

STEP Extended Patch is installed and checked under plugin tab.

I am running Windows 7 64bit.

MO is managing the archives (the box is checked above archive panel under archive tab). All archives are checked, though most archives are greyed out (but checked).

I don`t recall any errors when I created the bashed patch. It is also checked under plugins tab.

Did it. Same result. I will reinstall everything from star and I will run the new game until this dragon attack to see after what subsection (if) this lighting issue appears. I`ll come back with details.

I did something: I deactivated all STEP mods and run the game (vanilla I presume but with enboost active, run through skse in MO). The same lighting issue!!!

gamma is 1.0000 as the ini`s are generated by Bethini. In game brightness is at the middle and actually it doesn`t seem to work.

This comment makes me think that something is fundamentally wrong with the base game set up, and your most recent post would seem to add credence to that idea but I would not know where to begin troubleshooting that.

Can you take a pic of your nvidia insector settings?

What I am curious about is the Gamma correction section.

Writing from my smartphone now but gamma corections was set to on. I set it to off with same issue.

Yes. One question: how is nvidia inspector work? How can i disable the settings made in there? I will do a fresh install tomorow but really, how am i certain that all settings including driver settings are erased?
