Should I go back to Windows 7 ?!?

Question

Posted

I have read about a lot of problems with Windows 8+ and DX9 games not fully utilizing 4+ Gb Vram GFX cards.

Have anyone else doing the STEP or SR:LE installs tried to see if there is any difference between Win 7 and 10? and if so, how much?

I have similar systems to you i7-4790K, 16GB RAM, and 980Ti. When I was playing Skyrim a few months ago, I tested SR:LE + REGS + MMO pack on Windows 7 and 10. I don't see any performance differences. YMMV

That sounds reassuring :)

With SR:LE + REGS what texture resolutions did you install (and what resolution are you playing in)?!? I don't mind a few microstutters every hour or so, but other than that I want my Skyrim to look as beautiful as possible while still running completely 100% smooth as a babie's bum.

I was playing at 2560x1080 (Utrawide screen). I used 1K or 2K textures per SR:LE. FPS is between 45-60. I still can't fix stutter when crossing cell borders, probably engine limit. I have Skyrim on SSD. I probably need to try to trim out more mods.

I am now playing Fallout New Vegas.

Ohh.. FNV.. I really wanted to try that.. I just can't get over how bad the graphics is.. I've tried googling how a modded FNV would look, but I can't find any recent images or videos.. is it still bad? I'd rather play Baldur's Gate 2 or Fallout 2 (or Ultima VIII for that matter) when it comes to bad graphics because those are isometric but in an openworld game that tries to simulate real life (ie. not cartoonish) I just need decent graphics.
