When will S.T.E.P. 2.10 come out? Should I wait?

Question

I haven't tried STEP before, but I really want to now, I'm just wondering how long it will be until 2.10 comes out, from what I've heard its going to be better and simpler with packs. Is this true? Should I just pick up STEP now, or wait for 2.10 or wait longer than that?

It'll be quite a long time. It's a far-off goal, not a near one.

Are we talking several months or like a year, because the last time I tried to mod Skyrim it got way too annoying so I'm willing to wait a few months for easier installation.

It will not be getting any easier to install STEP. v2.10.0 will simply be a mod update release. It'll likely be a few months away.

Ok, so will I be able to update my game, or will it require a new game if I get the current STEP release and 2.10.0 comes out

That is unforeseen, but it shouldn't. The only reason v2.2.9.2 does is because of ICAIO and with it's latest update (v2.5+), it will no longer require new games for it's changes and updates to take effect. This is good new all the way around.

Ok good, So just follow the guides, one last thing, what is Skyrim Revisited Legendary Edition, someone on here recommended it to me but I don't really know what it is or how it relates to STEP.

It's an alternative Guide that is based off STEP. It's actually quite nice, but much of its additions are beyond the scope of STEP which is why it exists. It's technically not officially affiliated with STEP in any way and is maintained by a single user (Neovalen). https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited_-_Legendary_Edition

While STEP's mandates keep the project inline with vanilla, SR:LE goes beyond vanilla and includes many more mods.
