UNP/UNPB within the STEP gospel.

Question

Posted (edited)

Hi all,

Firstly, this is a place of genius and I've learned a hell of a lot so thank you.

After reinstalling Skyrim for the first time in a few years (kids, mortgage, desire to raid the fridge) I discovered STEP and have been following your excellent advice.  So far, so good.

However, I'm thinking of adding the UNP female body mod (CBBE is all sorts of wrong looking) but I wanted to ask at which point I should install it within the STEP framework. Logic tells me it should be in Characters & Creatures, probably about the same point I install Better Males, but I thought I'd ask anyway.  No idea as yet what skin texture I'll use, so advice on that would be appreciated too.

I have searched for a similar topic here, my apologies if I'm blind and I missed the relevant thread.

Thanks in advance and I hope your collective weekends went well.

Edit:  I'm about to start the Landscape & Environment section of STEP, I've not got as far as Characters yet.

I personally prefer the Mature skin above those three mods, seem to fit the game better. Not making every female into super models or dolls or worse, anime characters.

As for pure quality I can only remember that Mature skin was the one I choose based on it being overall in higher quality in all texture maps.

But again, this is personal preference as TechAngel85 says, as is any mod installed really.

Really appreciate the input guys thank you.  I also wish to avoid turning Skyrim into a cartoon, I'll have a nosey at the mature textures.

I'm mostly a nubcake when it comes to modding, I never finished Skyrim the first time around because I broke it with mods but this place is a gold mine of sensible information so I might actually finish the game for once ::):

Ok, I've grabbed the Mature textures and I noticed there is an entry in STEP about them https://wiki.step-project.com/Mature_skin_texture_and_body

Problem is I don't fully understand the recommendations section regarding "copy operations within the loose files" and I have no idea how to do this. I'd like to though because I like the idea of female vampires that look like normal humans.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?  Maybe I've missed something in MO Guide.

Thanks again.

That page is really old, the last edit was made over two years ago so I'm assuming the instructions are for an earlier version than what is currently available, just looking at the Nexus page shows the mod was updated only a fortnight ago.

Best to disregard any instructions and follow the installer instructions.

Textures look great ::):  Got a slight issue with a black band around the ankles and what appears to be clipping around the pelvis area but nothing major.  Might try a few others see how it goes.

Another couple you can look into and personal favorites of mine are:

True Daughters of Skyrim

Women of Skyrim

True Daughters has a little grittier look to it than the others so not as glamorous and one I use the most.  Women of Skyrim offers a no-makeup option which looks great for Skyrim as well.  I like the texture of Mature Skin but not the changes to the eyes and lips it makes.

True Daughters is my top pick and is probably the closest you can get to a more vanilla style.

The bands could be due to improperly installed meshes or a undesirable conflict resolution. It could also be caused by using a save rather than a new game. Things like this shouldn't be changed on a game in progress.

That does sound like an 'incorrect mesh for texture' sort of issue.

Just double check you have UNPB installed correctly and/or have chosen the UNPB options in the skin installer.

I followed the installer instructions for UNPB and the textures are definitely UNPB also, I checked it on an existing save so TechAngel could be right that a new game might fix it.  The existing save isn't an issue, it's in Helgen at the start and when I'm done modding I'll be starting a new game proper anyway.  Thanks for the other suggestions, I'll give them a whirl too ::):

I'll be running a test from the very start tonight to see if that fixes the textures, appreciate the heads up.  Just need to finish this damn shift at work first
