  1. I am getting the CTD and none of my ESP's have Dawnguard in the description. What is BFS? Maybe I missed the non Dawnguard link. The weird thing is, is I had it run a couple times before and now it wont launch at all and I have changed absolutely NOTHING. Bah.
  2. Hrm, looks like BOSS is locked. Is there an alternate site to DL it from?
  3. CoT looks wonderful with this ENB so far. Loving it.
  4. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22056/ This is my new favorite setting. Absolutely gorgeous with no noticeable FPS hit. I highly recommend this!
  5. Awesome. I love how all the homes have fire pits and torches with no ventilation.
  6. that was enb .111 the latest .112 works fine for amd reportedly (I'm nvidia myself so I can't confirm) Man, I dunno what it is but I go from 45-52 FPS down to 22-28 FPS with this activated. Most likely is the SSAO then, try disabling it and see what your FPS is like. Also I'd recommend using some form of FPS limiter and limit it to approx ~35-40 (lower than 32 means long loadtimes), that way your computer won't constantly be trying to go higher than a steady value, increasing performance. That gained me about 2 - 3 FPS. I am standing in a spot now where with it on I get 30.5 and off I am at a solid 60. 30 FPS hit is pretty massive. Disabling the DOF helped. I am not 40 and above. Thank you sir.

  8. Is there a good setting for AMD users for the Kage ENB yet? I absolutely love the way this looks but apparently the new Kage has a terrible performance impact for AMD users.
  9. I use Dxtory and set it at 40 FPS. Works perfect.
  10. https://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1373515-so-i-thought-i-was-hitting-a-vram-wall/
  11. I have been told otherwise. I think the shadows are GPU bound. I just switched my Skyrim folder out with an all high quality mods folder I had and I am able to get 40 FPS around Whiterun with a 1gb card while using this mod . This is with all the high resolution mods from the latest STEP guide.
  12. Keeps the the lighting effects and ditches all the nasty blocky shadows. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=16464 I just went from 20FPS to 60FPS. I am blown away that shadows eat that much of my GPU.
  13. Don't use Driver Sweeper. That is very outdated and no longer maintained. Use the following process instead (if I recall correctly, you have an AMD motherboard?? If so, you should do the following and be prepared to do a clean reinstall of your chipset drivers, as DS likely already blasted & that could be one of your problems): Uninstall AMD Catalyst Suite from Control Panel. Don't Express Unintall if you have an AMD chipset motherboard.Reboot in safe modeOpen Device Manager (Control Panel> System and Security> System> Device Manager). Uninstall all devices in "Display adapters" class. Tick "Delete the Driver Software for this Device" also if available. DON'T right-click "Scan for hardware changes" afterward (do it later, want the Display adapters class to be empty for now). Minimize Device Manager window.Run AMD Catalyst TwL Cleaner 3.9.2.cmd (yes to all) and follow the on-screen instructions. Reboot normally, open device manager, and you should see "Standard Display Adapter" as the display. If not, update the driver to that manually & reboot.ATI display drivers should be better about uninstalling completely these days, but this will ensure that nothing lingers. @Fri, we may want to add this to the Skyrim Installation Guide or the Troubleshooting Guide. Alright, that is all done and 12.3 installed. Now, I fired it up while in crossfire and it started just fine but low FPS as usual. So I took it out of crossfire and now the game wont start at all. I just get the little black box in the corner of my screen and then a steam error. Did some research, turns out the 12.3 Cap 1 profiles can kill your Skyrim. I uninstalled them and I can fire it up. On the downside my FPS is still lousy. I think I might really need a new PSU. As you can see by my signature, mine is a lump of 30 dollar feces that was just chucked into my rig. Lesson learned, never ordering a rig from a website again. Totally building them myself from now on. Also, does anyone know if following the directions to a T and using the medium 1024 textures on all mods can hit a 1gb cards Vram wall?
  14. Check the latest update, precisely here: Install that addon, enable it and you should be fine with the sword sound. About the low fps, you should try reducing graphics setting, disabling AA etc, unless it's a driver issue. I honestly think it is a driver issue... but when I revert back to 12.3 it is like I can't shake the curse of the 12.4 off. I use driver sweeper and delete all things AMD/ATI related and I still get the same old bad performance. Not to mention it is near impossible to play in crossfire. It drops my FPS by an extra 5 - 10 if I turn it on. AMD is just dead to me. But I will say this... the results look fantastic and I find it is worth putting effort into getting my system on track to play it.
  15. The only problems I am having is very low FPS (followed instructions to a T and reverted back to the 12.3 Catalyst drivers which used to give good performance) and I get a weird sword sound when I collect flowers and certain goods. The low FPS is something that I may need to figure out on my end (IE perhaps it is time for a new PSU and GPU) but the sound is kind of odd.
  16. I am having trouble with the optimizer and I think it is the cause of severe FPS drops. When I ran it, it flies through the files and just says "not read" behind each one. I set it up exactly how it said to. Anyone else having this issue?
  17. There are no missing steps, perhaps something could be worded more clearly though. Exactly what is the line in question? Basically it is the HD DLC Textures Fix. After using the Clean HighRestTexturePack DLC Fix on the HD DLC Textures Fix it doesn't tell you what to do with the folder. It just goes on to talk about the other 2 folders. So I took my own initiative and merged it into the HighResTexturePack01.bsa. Hopefully I did the right thing.
  18. I think I got it all under control now. I just need to find out how to make a bain file and then upload it through WyreBash (reading up on it now). Also, once uploaded with WyreBash do I delete the BSA's in the data folder? Thanks in advance for the help!
  19. Well... if someone were to accidentally send me something, I would keep it on the ultra hush hush. Actually, I am almost done with the process... I just have no idea what to do with the https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=8236 once I optimize the loose files. Do I comapact it into a .BSA or 7zip it or what? I am clueless. I would much rather DL someones completed work that knows more about this stuff than I do :P Well... if someone were to accidentally send me something, I would keep it on the ultra hush hush. 20. It's very nice to have all the instructions ( https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Skyrim_Installation ) but a lot of this stuff using DDSopt is kind of confusing and time consuming. I think it would be nice if someone uploaded their fully optimized BSA's for the HighResTexturePack01.bsa, HighResTexturePack02.bsa, and the SkyrimTextures.bsa to go along with the new STEP guide. Or if anyone would like to donate them to me personally that would be awesome too! This is what I am referring to: DLC Skyrims first DLC is a free High Resolution Texture Pack. It upgrades most of the weapons, armor, and clothes as well as the cities of Whiterun, Markarth, Solitude and Windhelm in the game from 512k to 1024-2048k. There are some other textures upgrades as well but they are scattered throughout the game. The DLC was released with many unnecessary and buggy files, some files were also placed in incorrect locations or given incorrect names. Even with all of these problems it is highly recommended to use the DLC and I will guide you through the installation and fixes. The exception is that if you have less than 1GB VRAM, this texture upgrade may be too much for your GPU, so apply it and the following options with cautious optimism. If you are lazy and have concerns about your VRAM, you can skip to step 8 below (if you do so your graphic improvements will be very small and will suffer only marginal performance loss). In steam select Skyrim, right click and select properties, select the DLC tab and click the "view available downloadable content for this game" link. Select Skyrim High Resolution Texture Pack and click "add to cart" and it will download and install.Download and install BSAopt - Bethesda Archive Management and Optimization and use it to extract the 2 bsa's you just downloaded to their own directories. Download and extract to its own directory HD Textures DLC Fix Loose Files Version.Download and run Clean HighResTexturePack DLC Fix first changing the first 3 lines to the 3 paths you extracted the textures above to.Now download and extract to its own directory HighResTexturePack DLC - Blades Armor fix, copy the textures directory and paste it into the first directory and overwrite the HighResTexturePack0# textures. An optional step is to use DDSopt to optimize all of the textures before repacking them. Refer to DDSopt Guide. Now use BSAopt (or DDSopt) to recompress directory 1 and 2 back into HighResTexturePack01.bsa and *02.bsa, alternately if you are using a mod manager you can deactivate the esp's and create a single zip file instead. Moving it to the mod directory of your manager and installing as the second mod (USKP is first). If you have less than 1.5GB of VRAM and skipped the optional DDSopt optimizations then installing the Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized will free up more VRAM and increase your fps. ALL of the following solutions offer increased performance with respect to the official Hi-Res DLCs whilst allowing those texture upgrades at a very slight reduction in quality. Choose the following option that best suits your VRAM limitations:Full 1024 (AKA Standalone): For almost no performance cost, this option will improve upon many of the standard vanilla textures without requiring the official Hi-Res DLCs.Hybrid + Vanilla normal maps: At a marginal performance cost well below that of the default official Hi-Res DLCs, this option will offer even more improvement.Hybrid (1024+2048): The most "performance-costly" option of the three performance enhancements, ultimately trading off a significant performance GAIN for an almost imperceptible reduction in quality with respect to the official DLCs.
  21. https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Skyrim_Installation I am using the wiki guide to optimize the DLC bur it is missing info on what to do with the HD Textures DLC Fix after you optimize it. So... what do I with it?
