  1. I appreciate the response, but I do have all the plugins checked in the right-hand pane, and I have confirmed that I have followed the guide to the letter so far. All files that should be in the appropriate places are there. I'm no newbie to this process, as I have successfully installed STEP 228, 229, and SkyRe before, and done some light modding/scripting. What is interesting to me is that Neovalen's response (which I quoted earlier) alludes to merging two plugins for this mod, despite the guide stating that one should merge five. That is why I quoted that particular post (#5749), and I'll do so again here: So please, can someone clear up the confusion here?
  2. Would someone please help me with this?
  3. In the current revision of the guide (last modified on October 5, 2015, at 14:17), the instructions for Even Better Quest Objectives state: TES5Edit Mod Merge Required: (Merging Guide) Files to merge: BetterQuestObjectives-AlternateStartPatch.esp BetterQuestObjectives-CRFPatch.esp BetterQuestObjectives-DBForevertoMisc.esp BetterQuestObjectives-EFFPatch.esp BetterQuestObjectives-PaarDilemmaPatch.esp Merge Name: Even Better Quest Objectives Merged Filename: BetterQuestObjectives-Patches.esp Notice:This merge requires The Paarthurnax Dilemma to be installed. I've installed the mod, and all those up to and including The Paarthurnax Dilemma, run LOOT, but when attempting to merge according to the Merging Guide instructions, I only see two BQO patches listed in the Merge Plugins Standalone (see attached screenshot for confirmation). Is the guide wrong, or am I doing something wrong somehow?
  4. That is so strange. When I tried it earlier, I was sure it did not work. It does now, however. Thanks.
  5. Suggestion: provide right-click 'Hide' [file] option on 'Conflicts' tab As stated, I would find it very useful to have the ability to hide selected files from the 'Conflicts' tab in a mod's 'Information' window. Thank you for such an excellent tool!
  6. Thank you again for pointing me in the right direction regarding Vividian. I was remiss in not installing the vivid version before (that was my only deviation from the guide, honest!). I figure I can always set UseOriginalPostProcessing=true if I don't care for the altered color scheme. I did opt to install the performance version via the installer, which suits me well.
  7. Oh I see. I installed the vanilla color version, without noticing that they are different revisions of the mod. I assumed the only difference between the two main mods was the color palette. Thanks for pointing that out. For now, I've opted to simply use ENBoost, as I'm not very interested in applying special filters or color alterations to the visuals. I've also experimented with Zoners High Performance ENB - Vanilla Version, with satisfying results. I'm still shopping around though, as I would be open to a lightweight ENB that doesn't alter the original game's visuals too much - only enhance them. I tried untangling Vividian from my setup, but it seems like too much work for too little benefit. I'm simply changing the active ENB through ENB Manager. At some point, I may just configure my own ENB for my own use - when I can be bothered to spend the time on it. At the moment, I'm tinkering with the Uncapper.ini for a better leveling experience and hunting for a good magic overhaul complement to SRLE.
  8. In the end, here is what I discovered: due to my inexperience in using ENBs, and consequently the ENB Manager program, I specified an incorrect palette. According to the SRLE instructions (rev. 2014-09-07): By doing this, the file "EED_verasansmono.bmp" appears at the top of the palette box, and since I didn't know any better, I left it there, selected. This was the cause of my distortion, but only by gaining experience with the tool and typical ENB structures did I finally discover it as such. You may wish to make a note of this in the guide, lest other newbies (to ENB, anyway) get led astray as I had. By the way, may I make just a quick plug for SkyTweak? Seems to me that this is a perfect addition to the tweaker's paradise that SRLE seems to be.
  9. Yes, I followed the SRLE guide in its entirety.
  10. Thanks again for the good advice. As it turns out, I turned off the DOF in the enbseries.ini (EnableDepthOfField=false) after reading that DOF was the culprit in causing blurriness with my setup. I don't miss it, so I may just leave it that way. In order to get rid of the distortion, I specified TESV.exe as a pre-defined profile in the CrossfireX Mode setting, in my custom TESV.exe 3D application profile. I know that sounds redundant, and perhaps it is, but given the path I took to get to that point, it seemed the most sensible next step. So far, the only issue I have now is that Skyrim with SRLE drops to the desktop when selecting food or the items menu (possibly others not discovered yet).
  11. Upon trying with the updated Catalyst drivers, I was able to eliminate the blurriness with the method described here and here. Unfortunately, the distortion is back, like in the beginning. This seems to happen whenever I create a custom 3D application profile* for TESV.exe (which the previously referenced instructions require, to eliminate the blurriness with ENB + Crossfire). So in essence, if I want to remove the distortion, I get the blurriness, and if I want to remove the blurriness, I get the distortion. Since others have posted success in removing blurriness with a similar setup to mine, I'm inclined to stick with this method and see if I can get rid of the distortion. The latter issue seems an outlier, from what I have found. Here is another screenshot of what I'm seeing. I will keep trying disabling various ENB settings, as suggested before, but if this is familiar to anyone, please let me know. Disabling the proxy in enblocal.ini did not help, and I already had the speed hack disabled. I do not believe there is anything wrong with my cards, since I've played many other 3D games without issue. * Customized with the Assassin's Creed Crossfire settings, and the rest according to STEP instructions here.
  12. Thanks all, for your suggestions. I resolved the distortion, by taking the following steps: 1) Updating the Catalyst drivers to the latest beta, 2) Not creating a separate application settings profile for TESV.exe. I had performed the latter as part of a prior STEP 229 installation, and just assumed would apply with SRLE. I then was greeted with a an alternating black flickering face. To resolve this, I disabled the [Display] iTintTextureResolution=2048 tweak in the SRLE guide (section 5.1.1). The black flickering is now gone, but in its place was a flickering blurred face. Oddly enough, disabling Crossfire again brought back the original distortion problem I had initially. By re-enabling Crossfire, and disabling ENB during character creation using shift+F12, I removed the all currently noticeable issues. Unfortunately, re-enabling END brings back a terribly blurry screen. I will next try the suggestions mentioned in the preceding posts. By the way, I have already encountered other reports of blurry DOF with ENB + Crossfire, and potential solutions here, here, and here. Unfortunately, in the first two, the directions only seem to apply to certain versions of the AMD Catalyst Control Center, since I am unable to access the "Assassin's Creed Brotherhood" profile through the 14.7 Catalyst version. In the last, I don't wish to fudge up SKSE to get ENB to work; the former is much more important, IMO. I'll continue to post here all my findings for anyone else who might run into similar issues. P.S. Does anyone have a 'cheat sheet' to re-configuring SRLE without ENB (just using ENBoost, like in STEP)? I'm not terribly picky about eye-candy, mostly just the gameplay and fixit mods. If not, I'll figure it out myself if it comes to that.
  13. Sorry, I misstated eariler: disabling Crossfire had no effect. Disabling ENB does resolve the distortion.
  14. Disabling ENB Crossfire had no effect. I'm still left with the distortion. If I disable ENB, the distortion disappears, but of course the graphics don't look quite right since it's configured for ENB Vividian.
  15. After completing all the steps detailed in SRLE (9/1/2014) and starting the game, I'm greeted with highly distorted lighting visuals (see screenshot). I've followed the guide to the letter, but I'll paste in the contents of my enblocal at the bottom of this post for clarity. Can anyone help in diagnosing the problem? FYI: I'm running twin XFX Radeon HD 7850 1GB graphics cards in Crossfire. 16. Oops, my mistake. Thanks for clearing that up! It is simply amazing the accurate and detailed treatment you give in your guide. I applaud you wholeheartedly for your efforts!
  17. Unrecognized BOSS entry: RSChildren_PatchBooksofSkyrim.esp Per the most recent (today, 8/29) version of SRLE, there is no indication of where the above referenced plugin should be sorted in the userlist. Any suggestions?
  18. I reoptimized the vanilla BSAs, using the updated method listed on this site, including using the batch files to automate most of the process. Nonetheless, my book images are still missing. What's gone wrong?
  19. Flora Respawn Fix by bluedanieru What it does: You've hit this bug, even if you don't know it. Every time you went to a place after the cell was supposed to reset, and wondered "hey why haven't those plants respawned yet?" it's this bug. When you go to Solitude and you see those Nightshade there and then you go grab a cup of coffee and come back and restart the game and they're gone, it's this bug. FloraRespawnFix.esp fixes this bug. See, since the 1.3 patch there has been a bug in the Skyrim engine that it can't 'remember' that plants, mushrooms, nests, and some salmon have respawned, after you reload a save. So you might go to a place again, see that everything is as it should be (i.e. has respawned), then if you save and reload... poof! it's gone. You have to wait for the cell to reset again. You might not notice it unless you look for it, but I've seen it explained as "oh plants take 30 days to respawn" (they don't, they would normally respawn when the cell they're in resets - like anything else), or that certain plants just don't respawn (they all should), or whatever. Nope, bug. Most players have just gotten used to it. Well, they don't have to get used to it anymore. This mod can't directly fix Skyrim.exe, but it can alter how these flora and fauna are processed by the executable, such that they are no longer affected by the bug. Flora Respawn Fix thread on the Bethesda forum site Installation: Place the contents of the archive in your Skyrim/Data directory. Works with Nexus Mod Manager. Compatibility: Anything that changes the flora entries in Skyrim.esm isn't compatible. Anything that changes any of the flora objects in the world isn't compatible (although, the placement fixes from the Unofficial Patch have been merged into this mod - just load this after USKP). Harvest Overhaul is not compatible by default, but compatibility patches are available. To install, load all Harvest Overhaul esp files first, followed by the Flora Respawn Fix esp files. Use the Harvest Overhaul compatible plugins INSTEAD of the main plugins. Convenient Horses is compatible, but you won't be able to harvest things on horseback unless you also install the compatibility patch (so install it). Be sure to load IN EXACTLY THIS ORDER: FloraRespawnFix.esp, Convenient Horses.esp, FrfChPatch.esp. (You can load other mods in between them, but be sure FRF loads BEFORE CH, and the patch loads after both of them. If you complain the patch breaks your game and I find you didn't follow these instructions, I will hunt you down and drink your blood.) Thanks to Xubarku for the Harvest Overhaul-compatible versions of the fix. FAQ: Q: Will this mod wreck my save, increase file size to absurd levels, hurt performance, and otherwise ruin my day? A: Probably not, although some caution is required. Once you start using this mod, it is unwise to uninstall and continue on after that. At a minimum, all the plants you have harvested will vanish from the game, never to return. Mushrooms, nests, and some salmon may also display odd behavior. This mod alters in a very fundamental way every plant object in the game. As such, you should play around with this mod a bit, make sure it's right for you, then commit to using it for the rest of that game (I can't imagine why you wouldn't). If not, revert to a save from before you started using this. Q: Okay great but what about performance? A: Oh, right. My testing has shown no performance impact in using this mod, that I can tell (I have a good computer, but it is not the latest and greatest by any stretch). Your save size will increase by approximately 5KB for each flora or fauna you harvest until that object respawns at which point the game will reclaim the space. This could become noticable if you harvest a lot of things in a short period of time. Q: Will this mod fix stuff I've already harvested? A: YES, but you have to help it do that a bit. When you reenter an area and you see that everything has respawned, HARVEST IT ALL WITHOUT RELOADING A SAVE. Only when you're sure you've gotten everything will it be safe to save your game and exit. The script that fixes things won't kick off until you harvest the item, so if you save and reload before that, Skyrim.exe is going to forget it respawned. History: 1.0 - Initial release
  20. Thank you for the pointers so far. There appears to be two mods in my load order that conflict (JBS Mundane Overhaul 24-17465 and Artifact Balance Overhaul147-11520). The latter overwrites changes made by Improved Closed Face Helms, so that seems most suspect; however, Weapons and Armor Fixes MultiMod patch overwrites both. I can only make an educated guess as to what needs to be copied over into a compatibility patch (references dealing with models, but I'm not sure exactly which are the pertinent entries). Here is a screenshot of TESEdit's readout: Trial and error will eventually yield positive results, I'm sure, but if you already have the expertise to identify precisely what needs to be copied over, I would greatly appreciate it.
  21. I really think this mod does not belong in STEP, since it clearly departs from the developers' vision of how the moons are to be portrayed. If it has indeed been removed from core STEP, I don't see any obvious indication on the 2.2.6 installation wiki.
  22. Sure thing. Here it is: Active Mod Files:
  23. Upon donning the Nightingale Armor, Karliah is headless. Does anyone know what might cause this to happen?
  24. After installing STEP, including all BSA optimization steps (which I suspect may be the culprit), all of the images in books are missing. Is this something someone is already aware of, as well as how to fix it?
