That is massively better than your last card, congrats.
-
Likely the last post I'll make, as this is an old topic now. I figured I'd show all the people who helped me piece this rig together what TES:V is looking like through the eyes of Uthgerd: Edit: Not a fan of posting pics like this but wanted to make sure there's no issues from the links. EDIT 2: Images removed STEP:Core 2.2.9 + RealVision ENB 266b Full + uGrids 7 Technically, some elements of STEP:Core 2.2.9 had to be slightly modified to suite ENB better. i.e. I had to opt for a different SFO that had less saturation. The last 4 photos were my best attempts to make the FPS drop to show the typical lowest FPS. Thanks for all the guidance. Whether I used the exact suggestions or not, each one led me to my own opinions and conclusions that would have been made with ignorance otherwise.

What was your previous card? Curious to see what you upgraded from.

Newegg is my favorite source for anything electronic, they are fantastic. And by the by Neovalen, your DSR mod is outstanding. Just completed a STEP:Extended + RV ENB hybrid and your mod is one of my favorite parts. And to boot, this new rig is banging out 45-60fps with these hammer mods installed. ;)

Is there a way to clarify what the issue with Windows 8.1 is? I too am running 8.1P. -
I agree, but it is normal for STEP to guide the user in the direction of the more "Lore Friendly" options. And in this case, I was a bit caught off guard by this guidance not being present. Like I said, this may be posted in the wrong place. For me choosing my preferred options was easy. For others whom may want to know which is more lore friendly/vanilla friendly, they may want the aforementioned guidance.
-
Could be the wrong place for this, but I just wanted to point out that "Ren's HD Shrines by Rengel" within the STEP 2.2.9 guide does not have any recommendations for the FOMOD.
-
Edit: I may have messed up on the initial tagging process, but intended to highlight this post as "Testing". Bare with me for a second and read on before assuming I'm just a horn dog... I'm not suggesting to go for a nude or NSFW variant of this mod, but seeing as there are currently male improvement mods included in STEP 2.2.9, I couldn't help but to wonder why Vanilla/Lore friendly female improvement mods aren't included as well. The main issue I'd have is the Fomod is NSFW... But if we can look past that, this mod would fit well into the STEP guide. The "Detailed Instructions" for this mod could guide users to install this mod as follows: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/2666/? Install the Main File. Base Options: Curvy or Slim? Select: Curvy (Slim may be used as an alternative) Options Select: Face Pack Tools None Underwear Option: (These pertain to both Curvy & Slim bodies) Underwear Style Select: NeverNude Underwear Textures: Install? None Textures Quality: (These pertain to both Curvy & Slim bodies) Texture Quality? Select One: Ultra(>2gb VRAM) High(>1gb VRAM) Medium(<1gb VRAM) Face Pack Options: Eyebrows Select: None Optional None Install. Then place right below "Better Males" but above "Natural Eyes". Okay, so if it is installed just like that, it keeps the game lore friendly but improves upon the female characters in the game. Which is desperately needed. I did a search for this on this forum, but failed to find one that was tagged "Testing". I hope this can be added to the next STEP as it is very much needed and goes well with the current Male improvement mods already present.

The FX-6300 is a 3 core is it not? With 3 additional virtual cores. I'm fetching a bit, but you have a load of stuff for an older 2gb GPU. On my old system, GTX 750ti, I actually reached the upper limit and couldn't load up a new game. But, this is likely not really your issue as it appears you can not boot to the main menu. I may have to take a backseat here and allow one of these much more informed member help you out. If everything looks straight in Wrye Bash, then I'm stumped. I'll have another look at your ini's though and see what I can find. Edit: Things look slightly out of order in your Skyrim.ini. Maybe you could attempt to regenerate fresh ini's , then re-modify them as you want them. I can not remember what it was, but only once I've had the ini prevent my game from launching. Also may want to make a few adjustments here: enblocal.ini ReservedMemorySizeMb=512 // Reduce to 256 or 128 if you have less than 3GB VRAM You do have less than 3gb of Vram. VideoMemorySizeMb=8192 // Formula: (VRAM + RAM - 2048 / 2) , max value: 10240 In your case: 2048+8192-2048/2=4096 I'd lower the "ReservedMemorySizeMb=" to 256 and set the "VideoMemorySizeMb=" to 4096 based on that formula. I still do not think these are causing your issue, but it may help later on down the line.' Edit 2: Looks like you have a full ENB with SMAA... Are you running a full ENB? [ANTIALIASING] EnableSubPixelAA=true // set to false if you use SMAA Sorry for the endless questions, I'm just trying to use process of elimination here. -

This likely holds little significance, but what are your system specs? Seems like you're running a ton of stuff. And since you said it all loads well in TES5Edit, have you gone through Wrye Bash and looked through each mod to make sure all the Masters are in order? This may come as a surprise, but I've passed TES5Edit, was not notified by MO either, and I've had masters missing. -
I was at the understanding that OpenCL/GL was performed better by AMD cards. Unless those variants of Adobe do not use OpenCL? That is where I found myself torn, again. I can't go with a workstation caliper GPU, it's out of her budget. So I need to choose a consumer GPU and they will not be able to do any text hacks to make a Nvidia card work. Based on Adobe's site, the R9 series is supported. While for Nvidia, only up to the 700 series is supported, not the 900 series. So I've opted for a mid grade gpu with a good amount of Vram.
-
This might be the wrong place, but my build "Uthgerd" drew some attention locally and now I'm on to building a productivity PC for someone. This is what I've come up with: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Vexzarium/saved/#view=4Pjscf They have a demanding list of requirements, mostly features. And they own a business that is web based. And use the Adobe suite very often. I couldn't see the cost:performance value of going with a i7 5000 series, especially with the cost of Mobo's and RAM. And obviously this is not a gaming build so the GPU is a bit on the lighter side, but the OpenCL/GL and the 4GB of Vram should do it justice for Adobe. Budget is $2000 with everything included like Tax, O.S., shipping, and labor. So I'd be sittin' pretty on about $300 for the build. The Grand Total before labor is $1694.62. Any thoughts?
-
Ah hah! My case fans came with a LED on/off switch!
-
I was going to say, when I compared our Fire Strikes, the 980 should have been quite a bit higher than yours was on the score. Silly question, but what type of PSU are you running?
-
I went for it anyway. Couldn't help myself. I'm so confused, I've compared my GPU-Z after a stable OC and a few burns and it should slaughter a GTX 980 based on the comparison to Neovalen's GPU-Z image as seen above... but we all know the GTX 980 is superior, by quite a bit actually. I'm so confused! Edit: Is it the Clock Speeds? Even though the bandwidth and the like are higher on the 290x? Looks like I'll have to download that massive Fire Strike and see what this thing can and can't actually do :( Edit 2: Yeah, I got smoked by Neovalen... Direct Comparison: https://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/4114345/fs/4118680
-
So I take it we do not have to wait for a burn in to commence the overclocking?
-
Gave my 290x a good bashing in TESO, not that TESO is as demanding as say Crysis 3, and was very impressed to see that it never exceeded 61c. I thought these 290x's ran like 90c? And my CPU never exceeded 40 something. Loving this 212 Evo. I'll let my system get a beating for a week or two, then I'll throw an OC at the GPU and CPU. For now, the old school in me wants to let it all burn in a bit. Maybe I've just gotten lucky, or maybe because I chose one of the more expensive 290x's, but my jump to Team Red has actually been a very pleasant one. This 290x is quiet, quick, runs smooth, no heat issues to speak of. I'm really impressed.
-
Just built my new rig and need some of his mods for the STEP/RealVision hybrid I'm doing. Can I pick apart his bundle and only use the ones I need?
-
I put mine back to default, 3.5/3.8, and it's working perfectly... at installing a STEP/RealVision hybrid modlist.
-
I too have the same CPU cooler, but I'm too scared to take my i5 past 4.4 ;)
-
I can see the power consumption being a major concern in countries other than the U.S. From what I gather, running my 290x Lightning shall only cost me $7-$10 per year more than a gimped 970. The 970 also costs more and is out performed by my particular 290x. Actually, not sure if my 290x costs less, mine was $369 at purchase. For me, after a few weeks of unrelenting research into GPU's from $199 up, I'd not put anything less than a GTX960 in a low budget build(around $600) and from that GPU I'd go to a Sapphire 280x, straight to a MSi 290x Lightning, then to the G1 GTX980. Then the most I'd go to is the 295x2. What's my point? The GTX 970 is a card, in a price bracket, that is gimped and severely lacking a reason to exist. So much so that, as a consumer, I completely overlook it. Now, if it still had a solid 4gb VRAM, it would be a fair contender to a higher end 290x, maybe even a better option, and would have plenty of reason to exist to maintain contention with AMD. Nvidia really has to either lower the cost of their 3.5gb GPU to a sub $300 card or fix the VRAM... which is not possible apparently as it was intentional. Honestly, if you're going for a very high end build, there are only two cards I'd even be looking at. And the GTX980 or 295x2 would be my point of interest. If you're going for a high end build, the GTX970 can no longer be considered an option, and AMD dropping the cost of the 290x line makes that card the only option in that price bracket. Forgive my ramble, I'm still pissed at Nvidia. On a side note... speaking of power consumption, what the hell do I do with this 3rd PCI power slot on my GPU? I mean it runs with 2x8pin but has another 6 pin.
-
Thank you sir. Built a new rig, on Windows 8.1 actually, and could not figure out for the life of me how to get rid of this error in MO. This worked perfectly.
-
Uthgerd is complete! Had to make a few changes(see above) and intend to add one more 140mm fan to the top but for now, she's ALIVE! I'm using... err... her right now. ;) Build is 100% completed with benchmarks and photos updated. Uthgerd

Had to change up the build a bit, had a discrepancy with one of the online retailers and had to reject a package. Went to a (semi) local retailer to get what I needed to complete it. See Below.
