As I just pm´ed you... its part of your monitors specifications! It should be in those.. and you can normally find it at the manufactures website if you no longer have the documentation on paper. (Just in case others are wondering!) :)

Well the part about the CPU is certainly new information (for me anyways)... I know I have been one of the people saying it for months.. since I saw people saying it when I was still learning. And from what I could dig up then it still made sense since the game was console made and dx9 hence it did not have any of all the fancy new GPU features to draw on. Also increasing shadow parameters never really altered how my GPU was performing noticeable... however the CPU load was larger. Guess I was fooled by the cores, or there is some semi shared relationship due to how old the engine is compared to newer engines. I know that in Blender I can get both the CPU and the GPU to render shadows (and the entire scene) if I want. Also if I pre run (think its called cooking or something similar?) the shadowmaps (Is that the right way of saying it ? ) then the CPU can do it quite fast... this is what I figured was going on or at least something similar. I will leave the thread here for now for more people to type in questions. Eventually I might gather up all your long posts into one and put them into the guide section since you really have done quite a good job in the tech department! Once more hats of and thanks! :)

If your monitor is not factory calibrated then you do it yourself. There are several tools around the internet to help you do it. Most with extensive documentation. It will take a while to do it depending on how far away from optimal your monitor is. Also depending on how much of the sRGB color space your monitor covers you might want to make a few adjustments to get a nicer picture. You should always do it on the monitor rather then software, since then you will not have to start all over in case of a system reset. The preset settings might be good for something, but their use vary. I use my monitors "Movie" preset since it is not as warm as my standard setting, and it just works better for movies.... who would have guessed. My gaming profile cause the scenes to really POP however it also annoys me eyes when playing in a dark room... it looks cool in some games but overall I just prefer the lower brightness.. also saves power. Just remember that in the end then you should just be happy with what you are looking at! Unless you are doing serious photo editing stuff then you will not really miss much anyways.

Try to do what I suggested and load the mesh in nifskope to see how it looks outside of the game. That way you only have the mesh and its texture, and not the game and its lighting etc. If it looks okay in there both with and without texture applied, then it will start to get really really odd. (What you see there is what you should expect ingame... except for a few transparency issues that depend on lighting.) For fun I tired it out, and the ones I checked looks normal in there so I guess its a useful test. Also you have better view angles since you are not camera locked as you are in char. generation.

Skyrim Revisited and Lighting/Weather/ENB - Is It Possible?

Just copy the ENB files directly into the Skyrim dir. That way it will work as it should... assuming no other issues pop up. The ENB changer cannot run though MO since the ENB files need to be in the skyrim dir, not a virtual one. Its the same with RCRN.. it also uses the same way to implement some effects... and it wont work through MO since the files need to be in the actual Skyrim dir, not a virtual one. Also the injector stuff from RCRN will not work with ENB without some tweaking just out of the box. The way to get RCRN on the mod list in MO is simple however. Just copy all the .esp and other game related resources into a separate folder, make an archive of it. Then install that through MO. Hope that helps, otherwise I guess I can dish out a more detailed version. -

First a semi joke: Hats of to you if you can actually see/feel that difference in ... say a turn based card game! I know some people have that "30 FPS and its unplayable" and I can respect that. I can even partly understand it... I have a thing about resolutions... I could play at 1080p but my monitors native is 1440p, and the scaling just triggers something in my eyes that makes the whole scene look meh! However for FPS I am more.... forgiving. Especially for games like Skyrim, where I would rather have a more pretty game then one that plays like counter strike. If I go about looking for the issue, scrolling around like a madman, then yes I will be able to notice a difference. However just playing the game then nope... I do not feel any real difference once I get past 30-35 FPS. The controls are mostly smooth as long as I do not expect to be able to make a jump off a clif, while loading a new cell spinning around all the time in one smooth movement. But again that is not really how I play, or expect to play skyrim. What I meant with flow of the game is essentially this. In an FPS shooter, the minute difference between 30 and 60 FPS can mean the difference between how fast you can move your pointer to the right spot, hence it matters. For skyrim... as long as you have the enemy inside the screen and in range .. you will hit almost no matter where you aim (basically). Also you will be able to block equally as effective at both 30 and 60 FPS.  Hence the flow of the games combat is not really affected, since you do not need any split second decision making, or super fast movements. Also just walking around I do not do super fast turns since there is no reason. I can do a 180 in one smooth movement of my mouse and I am happy. I do not dispute that you can feel them if you go look for them, but do I just do not see why you would need them. The only thing I ever had issues with is the input lag... I knew that mouse acceleration was an issue hence its disabled. But beyond that I never seemed to be able to make it go away other then to reduce features. Especially certain AA techniques and skylighting in terms of Skyrim seems to be having an effect. Say I get 20 FPS with skylighting on... the game feels really heavy. I disable skylighting and increase the quality of AO to get the same FPS.. but the game does not feel equally as heavy. Another non ENB related way of seeing it was, to increase the amount of grass, compared to just increasing the shadow quality. One would feel different then the other even though the average FPS was about the same. But I guess if the difference is +/- 1 FPS dependent then it makes sense that they would. Just thought of that as a bit far fetched.  Edit: Also thanks again for the links and insight johnnyboy88! Nice learn something new so I know better next time!

The mesh is not missing, or you would know since it would be invisible entirely. I did get up one more idea you could try... Get Nifscope, and then open the mesh in question inside that, and apply the texture on top. (This requires that you have the .bsa´s extracted) Then you can see if it looks odd in there as well in full detail. Also you should be able to see if its a mesh issue or a texture issue since you can switch between the two modes.

I remember reading it way back when I started getting into skyrim in detail. There was a test where there was a cap set from 30 and up, and the conclusion was that there was no noticeable difference in the flow of the game. I know that calling it vsync is wrong technically.. I did remember to say "vysync" since I did not really know what else to call it. I guess its just a bad term. The general gist of it was that it was my understanding that the game had a sort of limiter included that acted both as normal Vsync, and as a limiter that made the physics engine behave. If that is not the case I stand corrected! :) I am quite aware, I have had my share of fun by going nuts with flying mammoths (Which can happen even at 20 FPS due to weird gravity physics and mudcraps!).  As for calling it nothing yeah.. it happens rarely, and its always fun when it does! I can live with glitches like that! :) Also thank you johnnyboy88 for the link and clarification! If you happen to have some input on ... .input lag I would be happy! In general the concept of having really sluggish movements etc. even though the FPS is 30+. Â

If you like the sounds more then just rename the files to the CoT names and they will be used without any fuss. The only real issue comes if you want to have all the sounds at once, since then you may have to create a patch so that the CoT.esm links to all of the sounds. -
As I have understood it then it has more to do with how those programs measure the FPS. You can still get the card to render more frames, but anything above 30 is just not used and make no difference for the game, since its limited in a way that makes the physics engine behave. I know that for certain other titles, then if you have a monitor with a high enough refresh rate, and low latency then you would be able to see a difference when having fast moving scenes between 60FPS and 120. However I have not found anything that states that this is the case in skyrim. If someone has a better technical description then I am all ears... since I have never really been satisfied with what I could dig up myself. Also in my own tests... I really cannot feel any difference between 30 and 50 FPS in terms of playing the game. Only difference I ever noticed was input lag issues, which where always traceable to either an ini change, or some mod or ENB feature. However most of this have nothing to do with AA techniques per se, other then the fact that AA can add substantial input lag as well as FPS drop, hence you can still have higher FPS but there will be input lag because of the techniques used. However its not because of a low FPS... You can have 37 FPS with no input lag with some settings, but input lag with others.

The game has built in "vsync" that should limit the game to this value (afaik). Mainly to prevent the physics engine to go nuts. ENB has an override vsync function that will override this. The reason why boris had to make the "fixphysicsbugs" was because of issues with the physics engine due to higher FPS. To see it in action you can just search youtube.. there are funny videos of the carts in the helgen intro going nuts and flying around because the ingame timings get totally messed up. And again... anything above 30 for a game like skyrim makes no sense. There is no requirement for pinpoint accuracy on a pixel basis like FPS shooters where higher FPS does make a difference. What some people feel is higher input lag, hence the game feels more sluggish and unresponsive.. but this is to be expected when using injection methods like ENB since what it does technically happen after the game has already performed its actions.

Actually transparency AA has something to do with hairs :P since hairs also make use of transparency to look like they do! However transparency flickerings..... use higher resolution, and the highest AA settings without ENB. That will be the best you can do, other then going in and edit the textures themselves. Trust me I know just how silly difficult it can be to create a great looking opacity map for a texture! :S Long story short... flickering transparent textures are most of the time not graphical errors, rather a consequence of the current lighting and the textures themselves. As Garfink says then it is really in the minor issues department unless you like really CLOSE up shots... in which case you would properly be using the more detailed skyhairs anyways. Guess the last advice would be to ask a friend if you can borrow their card for an afternoon and check it out with that.

Technically you do not.. the game is capped at 30 FPS :P Anything above that is pointless. This is part reason why if you disable the ingame Vsync or all the other limiters etc. the physics engine will go nuts and/or fail. 37 FPS is still more then the 30 the game is designed around so... you are still golden. If you have sluggish movements etc. then its not because of a difference between 30 and higher FPS, but rather that some techniques and mods. add input lag to the game which would happen regardless.

Transparency AA hits like a truck in heavy foliage areas, or other areas with lots of transparent textures! I tried it in riften for fun... difference is over 10 FPS on average using my system and setting bla bla. :) Ofc. if you have a titan or similar it might just eat said truck and spit out the pieces like nothing happened.

If you "optimized" your meshes, then that would properly be the first place to look. This is the sort of thing that would happen if you ran all the meshes though that sort of tool, and it did not go well. Also about the drivers... if someone else with the same driver says they do not have the issue, then you can be more certain that the issue is on your end, and not a general issue. It is just too far fetched to go say that individual cards render the same thing differently using the same driver. Is the problem also there if you start the game though the steam launcher ? In that case then it should read the data directly from the .bsa archives and work truely vanilla.

Try to also post the full technical detail. Like exact driver version used, with the exact settings etc. Might help people with a similar setup chime in. Sadly I cannot be of more help unless I can reproduce the issue exactly. And I still have not been able too. At least not as severe as it looks on your screens. Also just out of curiosity.... is it only in char generation it does it or is it also at every NPC around the world ? If its is isolated to just the char generation for some strange reason that might also be a hint.

Try with only the Official HD texture packs enabled. If you are using MO just move the mod folder from that down to the bottom of your mod list and it will overwrite everything above it. If it still does it after that then you most likely have some weird setting enabled. Most likely some AA setting I would guess. -
The main issue is that half the ones that say they work with CoT... never actually took the time to look how their preset looks with EVERY weather. Also the main issue is that every CoT weather applies its own imagespace modifer (Think its own ENB) to alter the feel of the scene. This makes it impossible to adjust so every weather looks great. You have to settle for something in between. This for especially for Realvision. Its a nice piece of work in some weathers, but there are some where its just obvious that said weather would be better removed. The only ENB that goes around this is one that uses the helper mod that was being experimented with a while back to provide a seperate enbseries.ini for every single weather, hence allowing every weather too look its best regardless of the others. (Think its called vividian ENB or something similar.) However the helper mod is not really super stable, and even less with longer mod lists. A way to get around the above imagespace modifier issue is to remove the code that applies the imagespace modifiers (I am currently messing with that.). So far I am optimistic, its certainly easier to make more weathers look nice. Even got night vision working, however there are still other issues. For example interiors looking a bit off since well those image spaces obviously also dont work. Once you are confident enough with tes5edit, you can technically just remove all weathers but the ones you like from the climate tabels in the .esm. They will then never appear ingame unless you force them. Ofc you need to know the formID´s of the weathers you like then. However CoT is somewhat smartly made and every weather type usually comes in a group where all weathers have the same look but different cloud coverage. Its like that most of the time.

Cannot entirely rule out technical issues with the actual monitor. But if Skyrim is the only application that does it then that talks against it obviously. This is what I hooked into the most, since as I understood it then it was not just Skyrim. Also you say that higher resolutions make the image look worse.... which is also a bit weird since normally higher resolution makes the image sharper all things considered. If its just the smaller icons in windows you do not like you can just increase their size. The same for browser content. But again the pixel scaling varies from TV to TV from that I have been able to gather looking at them. If ENBoost does it, then it most likely means you have bad settings in the enblocal.ini, and/or drivers that are not super optimal with it. -

The main issue is that it is a TV... and its 32". If you say its 5 years old, then it most likely have a very horrible latency compared to todays depending on which panel technology is used, but I am guessing its more then 10ms in which case you will get blurring etc. of fast movements. Also even at 1080p scaling of pixels is happening.. which will cause all sorts of flickering, shimmering, etc. effects to look MUCH worse then they would on a monitor that actually displays its best native resolution. 1080p is the best for 24" monitors. 1440p for 27" and higher for 32". Also it depends on which technology there is present in said TV. Most of them have some sort of extra image editing software trying to do stuff as well. Change of cables is not going to do anything... if you had too low bandwidth you would be seeing other issues. I am almost certain its a latency issue due to the panel technology being old and not designed for the purpose.
