Converting Tree Mods to DynDOLOD's 3D Tree LOD system
fadingsignal replied to FiftyTifty's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
@FiftyTifty Thank you for making these. I've been so out of the loop with DynDOLOD that I didn't even know this was a thing! Sounds like I need to brush up a bit :) -
Hey all! Wow it's been ages since I made this post (1 year and 10 months!) Happy to be considered for this. I'll address a couple of points: Sandals with New Feet: It had been a very long time since I updated, so in my haste to release the update back in September I failed to edit the new feet into the open-toed shoes. This is on my charter to fix.SoS Patches: These have kept being delayed for a couple of reasons: I am not an SoS user currently, and it felt like the myriad options (if even perceived) were a little confusing for me to figure out exactly how to adapt my skins to them. Minor issue but a roadblock nonetheless.I'm not content doing a hacky "blend", so when I finally get to them (already about 20% done) I will be hand painting all of the ... bits ... to keep the standard as high as the primary skins themselvesI never personally considered SoS to be part of the enhanced vanilla experience / STEP, but if it has become so, I may push this further up the queue. Realism and all that :)Neck Seam: This is a tough one. I am using the vanilla normal maps as a base, and so I actually spent many hours improving them over vanilla, which are pretty bad in some spots, especially around the thighs. If you do a before/after in the exact same spot/light/time of day (make a save and load it) compared to vanilla you should be able to tell. I personally don't ever see it, and haven't really heard this as a complaint. Aside from making a new body mesh with improve vertex normals, and new normal maps baked from it I don't think this can be fixed for every angle/lighting situation. Always open to ideas for sure. Thanks for considering this for testing. My feelings won't be hurt if it isn't chosen, but I will certainly be excited if it is :)

Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
fadingsignal replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
Question: I had Caribou Gone installed (which adds new trees around Skyrim) when I first ran DynDOLOD, but I would like to remove it and re-build my tree LOD. What would the process be? It has its own plugin, which has been added as a master to DynDOLOD, so I can't just uninstall it. Do I need to start from scratch? -
SKYRIMLE Skyrim Realistic Texture Overhaul Dragons (by Frozunswaidon)
fadingsignal replied to klotim's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Technically 4096x2048 since it's a rectangular texture. -
SKYRIMLE Skyrim Realistic Texture Overhaul Dragons (by Frozunswaidon)

The default dragon texture in the Bethesda Hi-Res DLC is actually 4K. Makes sense because the dragons are such big objects. With that in mind, doubling the resolution to 8k isn't that much of a stretch (another pun!), if it's optimized well, etc. -
Thank you much, glad you like! I tried to make the filesize as small as possible without sacrificing quality as well. By contrast, True Daughters of Skyrim is completely uncompressed (all textures/normals/spec) and full 4K, so it weighs in at over 256MB for a single NPC (yikes! I had to make an optimized version for personal use.) Mine is around 70 for 'Ultra', 30 for 'High'. I'm still planning to make a matching female set. Someone suggested the author of TDoS and I team up, but not sure about that; artistic visions are always hard to mesh! But I digress! Also, patches for Better Males / Better Male Feet / SoS are coming soon.

Hello! Apologies for the "self promotion" but being a huge fan of STEP, I thought this could be of interest. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58443/? I made a new texture set from scratch, for all non-beast males, using vanilla as the strict baseline. I tried to create the textures as if Bethesda released Skyrim in HD from the get-go. I painstakingly drew every hair by hand, and on the "dirty" version put a lot of effort in to match similar patterns and markings as vanilla, including clumped body hairs. There are 6 variations all together, the default being clean skin with body hair. Have a look and let me know what you think! Patches for popular body replacers are coming, but this was meant to be a "set it and forget it" mod for the vanilla game, without any additional fuss. Thank you!

SKYRIMLE Skygazer - HD 2K Constellations (with nebulae)
fadingsignal posted a topic in Skyrim LE Mods
My newest texture mod, for your consideration and review! 100% new and vanilla-faithful HD 2K re-textures of the 13 constellations textures in the Skyrim night sky. Not just a star replacer, as the constellations have their own separate textures. Several versions for brightness level and with/without nebulae. Mirror available for those experiencing download issues with Nexus. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/55613/? I'm always very open to constructive feedback, suggestions, etc. Thank you! -

Haha no worries! I hope I didn't sound defensive there, I'm personally a little disappointed when I find textures that are just resized vanilla textures with filters. Glad to be here! I'm relatively new to Skyrim and modding and you guys are doing great work with this project. Did you mean 929669 (without the z?) Couldn't find a username for z929669. -

Hi! I'm the creator of this re-texture. I'm flattered to see my stuff turning up in the STEP project forums, even if it doesn't make the cut! I can confirm this is not an upscale, these are 100% new textures. I'm obsessive about keeping the vanilla look/feel/colors and paint in a lot of the original markings, etc. I put more time into this stupid pillow set than I care to admit, ha!There are 3 variations, the rough burlap, smoother cotton, and a white cotton. I added normal map ripples to all of them as well that I didn't put into the screenshots (I should update those!)
