  1. Sorry about that, when I couldn't figure out what to do with them I just stopped reading and started searching for 'batch'. I'll be more thorough in my reading onward EDIT: Seems like while the Update_textures is present in the screenshot of the windirstat window showing "Vanilla Extracted", it isn't present in the guide. Is it because it doesn't need optimising or is it a minor oversight?
  2. Is the v2.76 Fallout New Vegas batch files supposed to go into the DDSopt main folder? Can't seem to find a direct instruction for this and don't want to **** something up.
  3. I tried doing as EssArrBee suggested, and it has so far worked perfectly fine. No nonresponding game when alt+tabbing back and forth and the game keeps being stable. I'll probably keep using ENB unless I find the performance loss to severe. It really makes the game look absolutely beautiful.
  4. Ok, can anyone help me figure out how to use the borderless fullscreen with ENB? Anytime I try to set 'ForceBorderless' or 'ForceBorderlessFullscreen' to true the game will stop responding and just give me a black screen with music still running every time i try alt+tabbing back to the game. 'EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks' is set to false by the way, so that shouldn't be the problem. I've modded a lot through the years, but only barely used ENBs.
  5. Have just seen it. Pretty good, please post when you upload the next episodes. And liked the ENB you're using - really catches that nevada sun feel I've been missing. I'll be trying that one out.
  6. Millenias work is just too good to be true. I have to restrain myself from cluttering up my load list with his weapons and just wait for the next release of WNM. By the way, good to hear you'll be back to working on the guide, I'm looking forward to any update.
  7. I do understand your points, I've thought about most of them myself. As redirishlord said, there'll probably be need for a bullet time mechanic, or an outright time-stop like when using the pipboy, since the gameplay isn't designed for real time inventory checks. Some might say that this actually is how Fallout should be, with the old argument that being a friggin Time Lord is pretty unimmersive, and that this would make you need to be prepared for combat rather than just taking a stim break every time you feel like it getting too hard, again raising the immersiveness. I'm kind of thinking The Witcher here. I guess this, like many of the features B42, is still in the proof of concept stage and that he might have a few things planned for how to overcome this game design obstacle. Even if he chose to let you keep your Time Lord status, I think it would just be cool to actually be able to see how different armors look on you without the constant opening and closing of your pipboy. And again, the sorting mechanism which I've really missed an alternative for, instead of those [category]:[item name] sorting mods. And as for the other menus, I do hope he will add them as well to make it all one interface. JIP Fast-Travel made a new interface for the the map alone, so the possibility of the whole pipboy in one new interface wouldn't be impossible, though perhaps hard to fully achieve.
  8. That could end up being New Vegas answer to SkyUI. I really like it. Here's hoping for an optional value/weight tab.
  9. As EssArrBee says, autopurge can have bad effects. One particular situation I found myself in because of autopurge was in Fallout 3, when I started the Mothership Zeta addon. <This is my spoiler-tag in case you haven't played Mothership Zeta. I can't seem to access the extended reply options, so this will have to do.> As I got abducted by the Mothership and appeared on the operation table where the aliens would experiment on you, nothing happened at all. Imagine the creepiness of just lying there with 3-4 aliens just looking down on you with those big, black, cold eyes for several minutes waiting for anything to happen. It felt like being thrown into a creepypasta. This happened every time I would load up my save and try again, just adding to the creepiness. <This is the end of the spoiler.> Anyway, I found out, after some research, that the autopurge plugin I had installed, was interfering with the script, as it purged the moment I started the DLC. This is a good example of why autopurge can have bad effects on your game. So go with the PCB Hotkey unless you know when to disable the autopurge. But on that same note I have used Zan's Autopurge on an earlier installment of New Vegas, and experienced no such problems.
  10. Found this on reddit: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3tmgl8dzv2ja55i/fnv%20cut%20stuff.txt Appearently it's supposed to have been written by moburma80 (the guy who made the uncut series). It's seems like he had a good understanding about the script of Betsy the Brahmin, but he might just not have fixed it that well. It was only bits and pieces, so that could be understandable.
  11. The mods I'm talking about are Zan AutoPurge Crash Protector, it should automatically purge in a set interval you choose in MCM, though there have been complaints about the interval options being too short. It's also one of "The Big Four" together with FNV4GB, NVAC and ENBoost (will that one be added to the guide by the way?). There is also PCB Hotkey, which just makes you able to purge by hitting the backspace button. Probably the best option if you don't want it to be in intervals and just when you find it necessary. But I'll agree with EssArrBee, much of the lag input and such are very likely to be the many fixes in stability from NVAC and others. Gamebryo apparently wasn't made to be played for more than 30 minutes a session without crashing By the way, happy to see we are up and running again!
  12. For all of you experiencing lag when accessing containers and gradual lag/lower FPS while playing, perhaps you should try purging your cell buffer. There are a handful of mods to do so, but you can also open the console and type "pcb" (do I have to say it's without the quotation marks?). It usually work pretty well for me.
  13. Damn, what is going on here? It's like every great modder who disappeared around the year 0 A.S. (After Skyrim) are coming back to New Vegas?
  14. Sounds about right. That's how it usually works for me anyway. Good to hear you'll be back at this guide soon, I'm excited to read your guide on DDSopt, never dared trying this thing out, so I'll probably learn a thing or two.
  15. Well that didn't last long. Waiting for Robert compatibility now. Anyone else tried to make a new character only with NVR3? Got like 3 choices, 2 Caucasian and one Hispanic. Had to activate the FCO plugins again, to actually have something to choose from for my new character, which so far have worked perfect, even though stated otherwise on the site. But I think there sure is some potential in this mod, as soon as the compatibility patches are released. Like EssArrBee I wasn't that enthusiastic about NVR2, it was a clear improvement over the vanilla character design but nothing impressive. But this I really think could be a whole new experience. It could really make New Vegas closer to the game it should have been. But until at least the Roberts patches are out, I will probably be setting my New Vegas gaming on a temporary hiatus, so that I might get a whole fresh experience, without ridiculous clipping skin.
  16. Thanks for that, Livnthedream, knew it was on its way but didn't know it had been released. I've installed it now and am probably starting all over again to get the full experience.
  17. Sounds incredible, Queued sure is one talented guy. Could one just simulate BSAs by making some kind of textdoc with .bsa extension? would love to test this out!
  18. While BOSS do have a user rules manager integrated in it, it's pretty barebones. It only let's one order plugins before or after another plugin, where BUM gives you the option of sorting it in a certain category. It's the ADAM all-in-one installer you're talking about right? This is what EssArrBee had to say about it on page 41:
  19. Personally I agree that you should just focus on the STEP until the 2.2.9 revision is done, a lot of people are probably waiting for that one and as you said yourself, better getting that one done and out of the world, since it's come so far as it have you don't need to update that one so frequently anymore. Better focus on that one now and have all the time you need to put into this one afterwards.
  20. 1) Both NMC and Poco Bueno are both texture replacers. They probably also affect DLCs as some assets from vanilla appears in the DLCs, but no DLCs are required to use NMC and Poco Bueno, since they just replace textures. 2) EssArrBee would of course be the best to answer that question, but as far as I know he's still missing a lot of testing of mods. How's your system holding up? It's already running pretty smooth on my system, so if there ain't no problem, it'll be best to just let him takes his time EDIT: @EssArrBee, by the way have used the Path Lighting mod in an earlier playthrough, and it's perfect, one of those things that just should have been in the game from the beginning. Actually forgot about it, but it is certainly going back in my load order.
  21. @Soire, except for the one redirishlord answered, was there any more questions? Your edits confused me a bit.
  22. Damn non-autonomous fomod installers
  23. It was, the Omnis Hi-Res Pip-Boy 3000 is already included in the guide, I only suggested it as some kind of optional choice for those who might want a more vanilla hd texture. And I agree, I've used Readius almost ever because I couldn't stand the sight of the vanilla Pip-boy. But after seeing these two retextures I don't think I'll ever need to use the other pip-boys again.
  24. Your welcome. Well, for the suggested mods: 1. A fake fullscreen mod could be advisable, as we all know the stability of Bethesda's games go way up when played in windowed mode. For this is would recommend OneTweak. 2. Found this other Pip-boy retexture, possibly a more vanilla version retexture, compared to Omnis more dirty/used version, but it could be a matter of taste. I've attached a picture with a comparison between the two: PipBoy 3000 HD Retexture 3. This mod, I must admit, haven't been tested or used by me as of yet, but I like the concept a lot. It should make the different animals and creatures of the Mojave react to you, so they won't immediately attack you on sight, but won't be passive either if you get close to them. So everything in the Mojave shouldn't try to kill you anymore... but maybe that is how it actually should be? As you live in the vicinity you could be the judge of that. Realistic Wildlife Ok, now I only have some mod requests left: Will there eventually be a repair mod included? I know there could possibly be a lot of incompatibilities, but if anyone got a repair mod they could recommend, do so gladly. Oh, and have anyone so far seen a mod which does something like in Skyrim, where you would get ownership of certain items after doing quests for people, but for NV? I liked the feature a lot, and there are some places in New Vegas where it actually would make sense (for example, why shouldn't you be able to take the Bright Brotherhoods items after helping them escape Earth in Come Fly With Me?). I at least know that it would be possible to do, as you get ownership over the refrigerator in Dusty McBride's ranch after completion of The Screams of Brahmin, so the script is in there somewhere. Again if anyone know of any mod with that feature, I'd be happy to hear about it.
  25. So, I went and tested the new ADAM Complete installer, and this is what I got. 1. Test that all files are installed when choosing the different versions. Complete install with PN patch installed both ADAM Complete.esp and ADAM Complete - Project Nevada Patch.esp.Unfortunately several custom installs, where PN patch was chosen to be installed as well, showed that no esp for PN was actually installed. 2. Test that the correct questions are asked during install: For both complete and custom install, the correct options was given in the order that you described. 3. Make sure the bug fix has been made to the Complete PN patch. When putting on the Prototype Riot Helmet and crouching the blue tinted vision should NOT show up. With the complete option installed the blue nightvision/cateye tint did not appear when crouching. With the custom install the blue tint did appear, but whether this was due to the missing PN patch or was expected from you, based on the above, I don't know. 4. Make sure that prototype riot armor is now on a shelf in the Helios One Workshop and not under the floor. Shelf is above computer where the helmet is found and armor is on top of it. Check both ADAM Complete.esp and ADAM - Nemesis.esp. Checked this for both the complete and custom install. Both spawned the prototype riot armor on the shelf above the computer. I actually believed that the only way to get the prototype riot armor was to create it at a workbench using the Prototype Riot Helmet. Was the armor always supposed to appear in the workshop or did you add it yourself? From my testing, the only problem seems to be the custom installer not installing the PN patch, and maybe therefore not fixing the Prototype Riot Helmet. By the way, got a little handful of mods I'd like to know your opinion about, but if you feel you've got your hands full of other mods at the moment, I'll post them at another time.
