I think i will go for the default sizes so that it will be more compatible with mods. Another thing i don't like when they're too big is that you will see much less of the environment.. "can't see the forest because of all the trees"..
-
What's your opinion about tree sizes? i could probably make them taller (would need to generate new LOD's). Bigger trees could obviously cause clipping and incompability problems. Not sure how much of an issue it would be though (anyone here use that mod, "Bigger Trees" i think its called? Any issues with it?)
-
@Noobsayer: if you don't use it you won't see all grasses, it might look odd too since its not made to look that way. I decided to scrap the previous trees, they just looked too "nice". The new ones have more dead branches and stuff

That's interesting, i didn't know that. I'm probably not adding more tree types because of how troublesome and buggy it is to generate tree LOD's. I would absolutely love to though, it's one of the more interesting aspects of doing flora mods and what i actually like best with doing my mods, it saddens me that it's so problematic and buggy.. it's one of the reasons why i love modding Morrowind, even to this date - no F***ING LOD's!!! :D Awesome video/channel :) About fungi, yeah shrooms is a really interesting species / organism. I used to grow the psychedelic kind (cubensis) when i was younger, really cool how they can grow in complete darkness for example (not to speak of the experience of eating them, lol). Would be fun to add some as "grass", though the grass generator seems to freak out rather easily when not handling very low poly models built with just 2D planes (that's why the bushes sometimes bugs out in my mod).

@ z929669: i guess i should clean up the page from stuff that i no longer support or even suggest haha, it's a real mess. i really dont know myself what to pick because there's so much stuff, for example there's some LOD update, no idea if its really needed any longer.. i'll take a look at it eventually. @ Aiyen yes, some more dead trees would be nice to make it look like a proper forest and not a garden, Bethesda really used the dead pines way too sparingly unforunately.. haven't tried placing trees and generating LOD's for them, but i guess it's very buggy like always..

i'm sorry i don't think an installer is a good idea for me since i tend to upgrade my mod very often and i would hate to have an outdated version on my page (having to completely rely on other people to update the installer is not a good thing). another comparison (some new trees) https://i.imgur.com/nUiuYG3.jpg

That will depend completetly on which type of pine it is and how heavy the branches are (and probably other factors). Usually the lower branches are bent down because they are large and heavy and the upper branches points up because they're smaller and less heavy.

new green pines https://i.imgur.com/hVZZB7E.jpg https://i.imgur.com/EvM0Ce2.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oX88Xqi.jpg but like always the end result will probably be completetly different.. they're a little too "nice" at the moment..

The colors are the same as the non-enb with a few tweaks.
-
No idea, i dont keep track of the names or how they look, i try different ones all the time.
-
It's a bit of a drag to tweak regular and basic for ENB's, it also scares people away when there's a ton of files to browse / read through. I find that it works quite well for ENB if you decide against the really oversaturated and not so lore friendly ones. I'm using QuietCool and it works quite well. It's also so easy to tweak ENB yourself these days with the now built-in menu..

v0.6 uploaded, some further improvements
-
yeah after testing for some while treepineforestsnow01 does causes crashes for me too.. i have tracked down the problem.
-
glad you liked it. Let me know if anyone have crashes in snowy areas.
-
the last one was just one mesh that was repeated. here's how it looks with a bit of vertex coloring with bigger variety of pines (5 instead of 1): v0.3: https://piclair.com/data/tvqw7.jpg Edit. latest screens (v0.4): https://piclair.com/data/8am0x.jpg https://piclair.com/data/fjw7a.jpg https://piclair.com/data/7ccxp.jpg Edit: uploaded

kind of how it would appear in nature though (watched a ton of reference photos). e.g https://snow-pictures.com/mountain-snowfall/snow6.jpg Against the trunk there isnt any snow so that part will be dark, the outer part are sometimes also free from any snow too, depends a bit on how bent that part is. I could make them completely white but then they would lack any definition and it would not look very natural i think.. might mix in some trees with a different texture though to mix it up a bit. Edit: hmm might try adding some random vertex coloring, that might break up the "pattern" a bit so it looks more like the reference pic above. edit: works alright, tested on 1 pine and replaced all other with the same .nif: https://piclair.com/data/b31mz.jpg

there should be any in the the latest version 0.3: https://piclair.com/data/1mued.jpg at least not more than how it occasionally would happen with real pines. pretty happy with the trunks, but might change them later on.
-
@doyoueven i'd suggest you just try it, doesnt take more than a few minutes.. v0.3.. recreated them once more

comparison: https://static1.nexusmods.com/15/mods/110/images/141-1-1388017701.jpg nifskope renders: https://piclair.com/data/l3tc6.jpg  it's now live on my nexus page.. let me know what you think (performance and stability etc)
-
the branches are random, the texture is repeating itself obviously, so that might be the reason that you are seeing a pattern.. might do another snowy texture for half of the trees so that theres a bit more variation amongst the trees.
-
DoYouEvenModBro it will depend on the enb, not sure it would look that good with the really oversaturated ENBs.. Aiyen: hmm nah i think its pretty well balanced as far as density goes.. dont want to make the top too dense, looks bad, it needs a bit of defintion. https://piclair.com/data/xmv2n.jpg
-
Here's an update :) Recreated all snowy trees once more.
-
yeah the version to the right looks really wrong, needs more variation..
-
redoing the pine trees from scratch (both meshes and textures), i've started with the snowy pines. Really don't like how scrawny the default ones are.. Far from finished though.. Not sure about size (or if i can get LOD generation to work).
-
A square shroom would kind of suck though lol.. no instead it's better to change it so it is rendered in top-down view, that way you can't see it from the side. i'll mess around with it for a bit and see how it looks.. edit: https://piclair.com/data/jtr6x.jpg i need a better texture though.. with a normal map and a texture that has some shading on the sides it will look less like paper clip.. i know i have photograph of an anamita somewhere that i took last year, might work. edit 2: I guess the flat type variety works better than the ball type..
