WB not building new patch if previous patch is present
Telessa replied to Telessa's question in Wrye Bash Support
Well by golly color me amazed! Thanks everyone for helping me with that. I had no idea there was a header checker or even a header! LOL I can add the mods, I can run LOOT and I can run WB. Beyond that I can come here and find out all the answers! LOL The last time I had things up and running there would always be the Bashed Patch, 0.esp in my overwrite file. I had always done the drag and drop and replace with the overwrite file. This is much betterl Thanks again, I sure do appreciate ya'll. I truly don't know what I'd do without all the knowledge that is so freely given here. Hats off to each of you! Ciao! BTW, do I need to keep that Docs folder that is in the overwrite folder? It contains the Bashed Patch,0.txt and .html. Thanks again! -

WB not building new patch if previous patch is present
Telessa replied to Telessa's question in Wrye Bash Support
I have checked and it doesn't overwrite the previous .esp file. I know it should have worked, the point is that it isn't working. It doesn't update, it's not even in the overwrite in MO. -
WB not building new patch if previous patch is present
Telessa posted a question in Wrye Bash Support
For some reason my WB will not create a new updated patch if the previous patch is present. Since the author of WB has made it abundantly clear that there will be NO support for those using MO (seems odd since STEP requires we use it) I'm here seeking assistance. When I finished installing STEP Core 2.2.9, I ran WB for the first time and, as expected, the Bashed Patch, 0.esp was in the overwrite file along with the "Docs" folder containing the Bashed Patch, 0.txt and Bashed Patch, 0.html (I can't remember if they were present in previous builds or not seems it wasn't?). I then created the mod calling it "WB Output" and activated it. Everything was fine at this point. Then I installed a couple of mods, ran LOOT and WryeBash again. I clicked the "rebuild patch" and opened the overwrite file only to discover the "Docs" folder with the txt and html files inside but no new patch. I thought maybe it glitched or something so I ran it all again. The same thing happened. But, to be on the safe side, I did another run and, once again, the same thing happened. So, trying to discover what was happening, I opened the WB Output and under "Optional ESPs" I moved the original Bashed Patch, 0.esp from the lower pane to the upper pane. I then ran WB again, and low and behold the Bashed Patch, 0.esp was in the overwrite file along with the Docs file. The only way I can get WB to create a new patch is if I move/delete the current patch prior to rebuilding the patch. Otherwise only the "Docs" file will be present in the overwrite file. I've even tried adding a new mod, running LOOT and WB without moving/deleting the current patch then trying to run Skyrim but there is an instant CTD, as one would expect. Is this something new with WB? It didn't used to be that way and I'm not sure if I've done something wrong or if WB has indeed changed and now is supposed to act this way. Am I destined to have to delete the current patch before creating a new patch every time? Seems silly to do things that way... help? Thanks for reading and I'll check back later! Ciao! -
Come back to the light TechAngel... Skyrim calls you.... *giggles* Thank you for the updated info... I'll keep watching! Ciao!

Thanks to you both for your quick responses! TechAngel85 in one of your replies you said, "I've updated the instructions; however, it'll not work as intended until Weapons and Armor Fixes Remade Patch is updated for the new version." Have you heard anymore about that? I now track that mod page so I can get the patch when it's released. Do you know what won't work in my game until that patch is uploaded and made available to users? You all must get as frustrated as the rest of us when these mods we've grown to really like and always use just get zapped along with their creators. It's so weird when someone just disappears and we never hear what the heck happened. Ah wells, such is life of Skyrim addicts I guess LOL Thanks again, I truly do appreciate all the information and time everyone here provides. The rest of us would just be wandering around wondering what the heck to do to "fix" whatever we've done to our games. You all provide so much information to us in these and other forums. You spend your time trying to help folks track down all of our "WTF's" as well as continuing to play your games and modding. I truly don't know how you manage to do it all. Especially since this is just one game, one forum, etc. I've heard rumors that ya'll play "other games" as well. I think that's just a vicious rumor though LOL Anyway, just want to say thank you to you and everyone, for all you do. I, for one, would be totally lost without the information that you all so freely give. You don't have to, and yet you do without getting a thing in return except for some appreciation once in awhile. Ya'll rock in my book. Thank you isn't really much for all that's been provided over the last three years, but thank you is what I have and that is given freely as well. Ciao!

I've also run into about 4 mods that just aren't there any longer. The latest one is "Mystery Modders Shrines". The ones I've run into are Core mods, I sure hope it doesn't cause any issues down the road since I know (hrmmmm maybe I "think" I know LOL ) the STEP patches are built with the Core and/or Extended mods being included. I'm not sure if the mods are all by the same person since the "file not found" page is the only one that I see so there's no way for me to tell. Is it going to mess up my final modded game if those files aren't included? I sure would hate to get all done only to start having hiccups down the road and have to start over.... again! LOL Thanks for all the info you provide, I sure do appreciate ya'll! Ciao!

Screen Freeze upon opening NPC inventory
Telessa replied to Telessa's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thank you so much Glanzer! It's good to know what all this stuff does at least on some level. Now that you mention it, I did have most of my freezes at the forge when perusing the Auxiliary Armor list. It's happened a few times at Belethors and WarMaidens, but pretty regularly at the Forge. I appreciate you sharing that info with me. Makes me think perhaps I need to look at the Savegame Script Scalpel. I'll go find it and read what it does and how to get it to do what I want! LOL Not always an easy endeavor with new programs. Thanks again!! Thank you Searcher7 for your post. I had no clue what the heck a "mipmap" was or did. Good to know that information and what it does. Reducing VRam is always a good thing right? LOL So the mipmap setting of "1" can be higher than that? I can see how it would freeze/crash there most of all. I haven't added any mods since the last freeze. Prior to that I did add about 3-4 other mods before deciding it was truly an issue. I originally thought it was a fluke but after freezing a few times in 1 day, I figured I should probably find out what the problem was, if possible, before I threw any further mods into the fray! Having any issue should halt the addition of mods until the issue is resolved otherwise it's just adding confusion and additional problems. A lesson I learned early on when I decided to finally mod my game. Unfortunately it was something I learned the hard way. LOL Isn't that how it always is though. Thank you so much for all the information you gave me. It is very helpful. I think I have enough information now to begin tracking down what's happening. Thank you both so much. I appreciate the time you took to try to help me fix this. Or, at the very least, I now have new things to learn about this game we love so much. Yeah, it's true, I'm an ES/Skyrim addict. I admit it freely Thanks again! Have a great weekend or what remains of it anyway. Now I'm off to Google a few things and hopefully learn along the way! Ciao! -
Screen Freeze upon opening NPC inventory
Telessa replied to Telessa's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Awwww bless your heart. I appreciate any attention you can spare but I totally understand. Many moons ago as a struggling single mom to the greatest son in all the world, I spent many hours and all weekends trying to sell to uninterested shoppers. But hey. it paid the bills and when it was no longer enough, I moved on. But, to be honest, when I finally started what was to become my career choice, I never missed it nor did I ever look back. LOL Thanks for all your help thus far. Since the "freeze" is random I'm dealing with it and playing anyway. Gotta love us Skyrim addicts! I don't need no 12 step program! I'm never that far from my computer! LOL Have a great remainder of your day and upcoming weekend. May you be blessed with time to play and do what you love! Ciao darlin, I'll check back periodically. -

Thank you so much!! I finally tracked down the handy dandy way to copy and paste the contents of any folder/directory, unfortunately it only lists them alphabetically, but at least it's a list! I did find the MO plugins.txt, and that worked SO much better! Thanks again for that tip... And now, my mod list (which is mostly according to STEP), I did vary just a wee bit! Screen Freeze upon opening NPC inventory
Telessa replied to Telessa's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hey there :D Good morning/afternoon and Happy T'day to ya! Is there a way to get a general list of the mods I have installed via LOOT? Or anything else? It was super easy to get the list with BOSS, but we've all advanced (well most of us anyway) to LOOT and the option to send it to a text file is seemingly non-existent. At the very least, I can't find it. I will find a way to get a text file of the report and come right back with the list. Thank you Dragon King, I sure appreciate your help! Ciao! -
Screen Freeze upon opening NPC inventory
Telessa replied to Telessa's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Recently Dragon King said, "Moved to Support Thread." Whoops!! I thought that's where I posted. I'm sorry :( Thanks for the quick response Dragon King! I did rebuild the patch and it just froze up on me again. So leave the mipmaps both at 0? I did change it to 1 just to see if it would work. I got back into my game but it did happen again. So I went in and set it back. Once I did that I couldn't get in the game at all. I put it back to 1 and it worked fine. So having said all that, let me say that I'm still totally confused and freezing up. I know you can figure this out... I've read a ton of your posts (I was trying to be a good girl and make sure I searched the forum first. :D ) and you are pretty darned good at fixing things... So, what's next oh mighty one :D Thanks in advance! Ciao -
I've been playing happily along since installing my brand new shiny SSD. Things are zooming right along and all my mods are playing together nicely. Tonight I had a screen freeze as Belethor's "what have you got for sale" inventory opened. I thought hrrmmmm maybe a fluke, so I Task Managered out and restarted my game. Ran over to WarMadine's and the same thing happened with Ulfberth's inventory. I'm not sure what could have suddenly caused this to happen or how to fix it. I read something recently about editing the SkyrimPrefs.ini and changing the iTexMipMapSkip=0 to 1 if opening the inventory screen causes a freeze. So I changed that one, does this one remain the same? iTexMipMapMinimum=0 Not sure what MipMap stands for so I really don't know what it does or doesn't do. I still experienced the screen freeze upon opening the NPC inventory. Any other ideas? Not sure what other information ya'll might need to fix this irritating problem. I normally would enter my LOOT list but since I can't figure out how get it into a text file, it's not here. Thanks in advance for any insight anyone might be able to give... I'm really at a loss here. Happy Thanksgiving to all that celebrate it, for everyone else, Happy Thursday! :D Ciao! Telessah :D

Quoting GSDfan: "This fixed it for me. Go into settings, workarounds and change the NMM version to 0.52.2 and see if that helps. Restart MO after." I just wandered over here to find out what I'd done to my MO cuz it wouldn't download anymore So glad you posted this fix!! Quickest help I ever got! Thank you!! CIao!

I've been reinstalling S.T.E.P. 2.2.9 and have noticed that several mods have been recently updated on Nexus. While I'm really glad to see some "old" mods getting a bit of love and attention, some of the file names have been totally changed with no hint as to which file is the correct one for S.T.E.P. Some of the old files have been deleted as well so there is no clue as to which file needs to be used. For instance, "Enhanced Distance Terrain". S.T.E.P. recommends the Earth 1024 option from the FOMOD installer. That file is no longer there and the new ones don't give a hint as to which one to use. Additionally the old files have been removed it seems. Now the options are "Enhanced Distance Terrain 1_65", "EDT 1-6" and "Enhanced Distance Terrain 1_5". The last two are listed as the "old" files. There is nothing that says or points to the file being listed for use by S.T.E.P. The "Earth 1024" is now contained in Enhanced Distance Terrain 1_65 as one of the options. Just a heads up :D As I find other files I'll make a quick note in this thread... Thanks again Dragon King for the redirection and link! :) Ciao!

Some mods have been updated and others deleted
Telessa replied to Telessa's topic in Step Skyrim LE Guide
Thanks Dragon King! I was able to find the file once i chose a file to download and look. It can be confusing when the mods are updated and the file names change. I try to make sure I adhere to the mods specified and the order. It really throws me when the new file names have no resemblance to the file stated for download. But then I'm easily confused LOL :D I'll take a look over in Bug Reports so I can put any new info there. Thanks again :D I appreciate the reply and redirection! Have a fabulous day! Ciao! -
I'm (re)installing S.T.E.P. 2.2.9 and I've noticed that some of the mods have been updated since this last release was written. Usually I can figure out what the change was and go with new files but some have really been changed. For instance, for Enhanced Distance Terrain, STEP recommends the Earth 1024 option from the FOMOD installer. That file is no longer there and the new ones don't give a hint as to which one to use. Additionally the old files have been removed it seems. Now the options are "Enhanced Distance Terrain 1_65 with the only "old" file being "EDT 1-6" and "Enhanced Distance Terrain 1_5". Not sure which one to use as there is no "Earth 1024" any longer. I've also noticed a few other mods that have recently been updated some as recently as this month. :O_o: I'm not sure where to post this, no area seemed to really cover updated files for the current S.T.E.P. build. If there is a spot I'll happily report any further changes I find as I go along. Just thought someone would like to know :D Oh, and BTW, which one of the above files should I download in place of "Earth 1024" ? I'd like to keep as close to the recommended files as possible. Thanks! Ciao PS: Feel free to move this if there is a better spot or "usual" spot for these types of posts. I'll watch to see if further posts are needed and I'll just add to this thread if no one else notes any changes. Thanks! EDIT: I did find that "Enhanced Distance Terrain 1_65" includes the "Earth" option... just as a FYI. Thanks again! Ciao!

I changed the memory value and fired up my game and it seemed to be working as well. I always wondered why it was set so low... that was a setting that made more sense to me than the vanilla values. But we shall see :D I'm still trying to figure out what all the other stuff means so I can get a better idea of what changes to make, if to make them, when mods say to do this that or the other. Can't just blindly follow along anymore, I get tired of "fixing" my game LOL Thank you for your input RedIrish, I really appreciate it! Ciao! ♥

Oh I wouldn't change anything just willynilly! LOL I do have one question though, you have your iPresentInterval=1 set in both your Skyrim.ini and your SkyrimPrefs.ini. Does it need to go in both places? I've only ever had in my Prefs.ini.... was that incorrect? I'm going to keep looking and reading to see what you have compared to what I have. Our systems are different so I know a lot of the settings are based on that and the graphics cards... :D It's nice to look though and get an idea of what goes where and what other's ini files contain. Thanks for posting yours! Ciao! ♥

Thank you so much!! I"m going to go look and see how they compare to mine. I'm so clueless when it comes to knowing what to include in the inis as well as what the settings should be. I know much of it is system dependant, but I know there are lots that are graphical as far as the game goes too and I have no clue about them! So thank youi! I'm off to take a look!! You rock! Ciao! ♥

I would love if there was a thread where everyone would post their Skyrim.ini, SkyrimPrefs.ini, ENBLocal.ini, and even the SKSE.ini along with their system specs. Then folks like me, "The INI Challenged", could come take a look and get some tips on setting up the ini files to get the most out of our systems and this game we all love. There would be questions of course, but there would be many who will just read the posts to gain an understanding regarding ini files and settings. I "know" my SKSE.ini is right only because I have a wonderful friend that leads me around by the hand showing me how to do this that and the other. I know it would be impossible to say "this is THE way your SkyrimPrefs.ini should be and here is your end all, do all, be all Skyrim.ini". I may be totally confused and clueless when it comes to what all those letters jumbled up together mean and what I should put in as a value but even I know there cannot be one definitive .ini for all users. (AA, FAA, FXAA, AF, and on and on! Gads, it's enough to make a person go completely mad trying to figure out what all those mean, let alone what they do or what the values should be!) I "think" I have my "must be" values set as Dan has helped me along with all of it (bless his very, very patient heart ♥) but I also have a lot of other settings that I have absolutely no clue as to what they should be or even if they should be. What is really needed in an .ini and what are the so so entries? I have been guilty of reading a mod description that suggests this or that change and blindly making the changes because I "thought" I probably needed to because the mod author included it in the description. The author wouldn't have noted the changes if they weren't needed. Right? To that I say HAH! Sometimes they include changes because they were told they needed it not realizing it really depends on the users system setup. It's very frustrating when one knows so little about what does and doesn't need to be in each .ini setup as well as the value for each of them. So perhaps just a general "this is my system" settings post to the main thread "Suggested INI settings" or some such thread subject so it could be easily found. And as I said, if everyone would post their system specs and their ini settings for the 4 main ini files, it would really help those of us who are clueless. I dunno if it's anything that the admins would consider allowing on the forums and then contributing to the thread. We look to a handful of users, including the admins here, for their vast knowledge of the game and things to do that help when our games seem broken. We trust what you say and, as for me, I've learned so much by reading your responses and threads. I've never posted a "thanks" thread for all the information I've gotten from this forum by those who are deeply time invested in the game but you've all helped me so much. I mean, just look at S.T.E.P. how cool is that!! I think that an ini thread would really help many of us get not only an understanding of the entries that are included, as well as the values that are set per each user's system setup. Just thinkin', and wishin' and hopin' :D I've read at least 20-30 articles and thread posts regarding what those letters all mean and how we should or shouldn't set them up. But honestly, it all sounds Greek to me and my eyes glaze over around the 3 article/post that I read. I try really hard to concentrate and take notes but....... OH!!! Look!! A bunny!! Thanks for reading and perhaps even considering, Ciao! ♥

MO wants to "fix" my load order after every 3rd to 4th time I open it.
Telessa replied to Telessa's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thank you everyone! I so appreciate your responses. And Wiki Stepper, I won't be smackin' ya anytime soon! LOL I just hope MO doesn't think I'm ignoring it and reach out and smack me! That line in the warning makes me laugh everytime :D @CovertSlinky, that's what I've been doing. I'm with you, I want green all the way, that red/orange check mark next to the S.T.E.P. patch makes my eye twitch LOL Everytime it pops up I go resort them again. It's a fight, but by golly I'll win... but there will be no smackin' if I can help it ;D Thanks again everyone! Ciao! :D -
I'm truly not sure where to post this so I'm going to start here. If I chose wrong, please don't yell I'm sorry and feel free to move it where it should be. Thank you. #1 I keep getting the dreaded red triangle in MO's upper right pane. This is the "error" it keeps giving me: "There is a problem with your load order and you should be paying attention to this. If someone told you to ignore this smack them and then fix the problem!" (paraphrasing the beginning of the message here). The only option I have is to let MO "fix the problem" by doing the following: Move Thieves Guild Requirements-14157-2-1 after Traps Make Noise-31799-2-1Move When Vampires Attack-28235-2-0-3 after Thieves Guild Requirements-14157-2-1Move Complete Crafting Overhaul-49791-1-5 after When Vampires Attack-28235-2-0-3Move Non-Essential Children - Hearthfire-13202-10-0 after Complete Crafting Overhaul-49791-1-5Move The Choice is Yours -main file-26359-1-3 after Non-Essential Children - Hearthfire-13202-10-0Move The Paarthurnax Dilemma-18465-1-2-8 after The Choice is Yours - main file-26359-1-3 I haven't changed anything in the load order, I run LOOT every time I add an additional mod (I've only gotten 9 mods installed beyond the STEP mods and extended patch). I get this message about every 3rd or 4th time I run LOOT, WB and DSR. I've not changed any sort orders except where noted in the STEP line up within LOOT or with those specific mods. Since they are all STEP mods it seems like it has to be a problem with either STEP, LOOT or MO, or any combination thereof. I'm just not sure which one it is! The other issue I've run into is with the STEP Extended Patch itself. Again about every 3rd or 4th time I open WB to rebuild the patch, the STEP patch has an orange/red check mark indicating the following "masters are unsorted":ADS.ESPThieves Guild Requirements.espAnimated Weapon Enchants.espSkyrim Coin Replacer Redux.espExplosive Bolts Visualized.espRealistic Water Two.espAOS.espEnhanced Blood 2.espaMidianBorn_Content Addon.espComplete Crafting Overhaul Remade.esp I'm not sure why it keeps doing that since I've used TES5Edit to "sort the masters" each time the check mark shows the orange/red color. What could be causing that and is it anything I need to really be concerned with? I do hope I've posted this in the right spot. Honestly I wasn't sure if it was an MO issue, or a LOOT issue or a WB issue. Somebody is hiccupping somewhere! Thanks in advance for any help or insights anyone can give. These two things are driving me nuts since I have to do it over and over and over again. It doesn't make sense. I'll check back for any ideas or insights anyone cares to post :) I appreciate your taking the time to read this. Ciao!
