  1. I think it'd be neat to add a supplemental section to the STEP guide detailing the most popular options for updating the combat. Doesn't need to be exhaustive but more of a primer for people who want to wet their toes and see what's out there. With the express understanding that it deviates from the intent of the STEP guide to deliver an enhanced original experience. I myself don't know if I want to go full dark souls myself. But that's the joy of modding. I'll spend a hundred hours just experimenting before I even attempt a playthrough and I'll enjoy every minute of it.
  2. That's good to know, I was not aware first person was the intent. I've gone down the rabbit hole on Open Animation Replacer, Animation Motion Revolution and Modern Combat Overhaul. I want to create the modern third person experience I've been seeing on youtube all throughout the day. I think it'll play nice with the STEP guide but we'll see. Worst case I'll just start over.
  3. Hey all, I am working my way through the SkyrimSE v2.3 guide and just got to "Ice skating fixed for real - No more attack sliding movement". Well one click lead to another as is so often the case on the Nexus and I found myself staring at True Directional Movement - Modernized Third Person Gameplay with my mouth agape and I realized this is how I want (NEED) to play Skyrim. It's just looks too darn cool. So I searched around the STEP guide and found that nearly every mod required to use True Directional Movement was already included in the guide, save for one, TrueHUD. Now reading through the mod description it doesn't seem like it would conflict with any of the other mods related to the HUD but I wanted to ask y'all for your opinions before attempting to modify the STEP guide to my own preference. Can I safely include TrueHUD without breaking the game? If so, where would I place True Directional Movement and TrueHUD in the installation order? I would assume TrueHUD would go down in section 16-Interface with the rest of the UI related mods, but what about True Directional Movement? My best guess is under section 5-Animation and Physics. Does that sound right? Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I hope to hear your feedback soon.
  4. I appreciate the replies, I'll put the cleaned vanilla masters at the top and not worry about it. Thank you both!
  5. Hello, I am trying to follow the v2.3 step guide for SkyrimSE to the letter and I've encountered a minor discrepancy. Under step 3, the section about cleaning the vanilla master plugins, I am directed to create an empty mod called "Cleaned Vanilla Masters". The guide says it should be at priority 78 but due to the presence of the "xEdit Output" mod it is at priority 79. Do I need to move it above "xEdit Output"? That would conflict with the earlier requirement under step 2 to place "xEdit Output" at the top of the mod-list below the vanilla game files. Can someone please explain this to me? Have I made some error or is the guide incorrect?
  6. Hi Greg, Thank you for replying, I've tried fiddling with the INI's a bit but have not had any luck. But I am reluctant to mess with it too much as I am not well versed in what I am actually changing. Oh well, I'll make do without. The game still looks lovely without the mod. Again, thank you for your time. I am truly grateful for these STEP guides, I would never have been able to break into modding without them. Kind regards,
  7. Hello, I am currently modding New Vegas and using the current STEP NV guide (not fear and loathing). I've installed almost everything exactly as specified in the guide with a few deviations mainly involving armor and body mods (I'm using Type4 instead or Type3) and I installed New Vegas Redesigned 3 Revised over FCO and did not install it's attendant mods (last few edits, bug fixes). The issue I am experiencing is with the Altitude weather mod. With the mod installed the New Vegas strip looks like for lack of a better word, a super nova. From the outside and inside it is so bright it is almost white. If i disable Altitude it looks normal. I not sure what settings or conflicting mods could be causing this. I am not using an ENB or any kind of visual effects except what the guide has in it. The mod page on the nexus has a sticky telling people to enable full dynamic range and calibrate their monitors if they have brightness issues. I have done both and it has not made any difference I can see. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated, otherwise I may have to ditch the mod which would be a shame as it looks fantastic everywhere else in game. Thank you for taking the time to read this post. Here are some screenshots for reference https://ibb.co/L14t1vQ With Altitude https://ibb.co/K6ygkCt Without Altitude
  8. That makes sense, thank you for confirming.
  9. My apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere. I am following the current SkyrimSE v2.0.0 guide and I just installed Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library. As I was reading the mod description on Nexus I saw that the books added required using Wyre Bash to generate the new leveled lists to allow the new books to be found as random loot. However when I search through the guide I cannot find any reference to Wyre Bash. Is it no longer necessary in the current guide? Is it supplanted by a new mod? Is it the intent of the guide to not use it at all or is it expected that modders are already aware of the need? Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I hope to hear from someone soon.
  10. Thank you for your reply, It is unfortunate but I understand and respect the rights of the authors. I hope one day he/she changes their mind and makes it available again. Until then I am glad to know I will not suffer for the loss if it. Regards,
  11. Thank you so much for your reply. The mod page on nexus states that the Realistic Ragdolls and Force mod is not compatible with body mods so should I just delete the plugin and wait to acquire it through the STEP patch? Or should I download the main mod and let it be overwritten by XP32 Maximum Skeleton extended? Regarding Xenius character enhancement I do not see that mod in the guide but some notes near the top mention it has been removed in favor of other mods. In section 2.H After better males I installed the dimonized UNP body followed by Real Girls Realistic Body Texture for UNP, Better females by bella natural edition, the eyes of beauty and seductive lips. Are any of these redundant or conflicting? Do you think Real Girls Realistic Body Texture will resolve any neck seam issues? I did not install the Windsong Skyrim character overhaul as it clearly states on the mod page that it does not work with UNP or any other body mods. Further down in section 2.H I added KS Hairdos - renewal after superior lore friendly hair. I also added ShowRaceMenu Precache Killer to prevent crashes caused by KS Hairdos but after reading the mod page on nexus again I noticed it said that its wasn't necessary if I already have RaceMenu installed which following the guide I do have. So I guess I can delete Precache killer? Finally in section 2.I I installed the book of UUNP with the patches for UNP without HDT and the WAFR and CCOR patches and I am slightly concerned it may conflict with Rustic Clothing based on the mod page on nexus. And that is the extent of my deviation from the STEP guide otherwise I have followed it exactly. Except I did not download Lepidoptera Of Skyrim because it is no longer available. But I don't think that will cause any issues by its absence. Of course I will not include a LOOT meta rule for it either. Again thank you so much for your guidance. It has always been my dream to play fully modded skyrim since my days as a console peasant but it always seemed too daunting a task. Your guide is simply fantastic (and those amazing GamerPoets videos on youtube). P.S. As I've said I'm following the guide as close as I can and have been installing all the textures at the resolutions recommended by the guide. However I have a pretty good rig (I7 processor, GTX 1080 TI, and 32 gigs of ram) and I am curious how hard I can push my machine. What do you think I can reasonably get away with while still having a playable game?
  12. Hello, Is anyone able to share this mod since the author has made it hidden on nexus? I don't quite understand his/her reasoning for that. If they want to abandon the mod and do no further updates I can understand that, but why deprive individuals who want to use and appreciate their work? I apologize for any faux pas but I wish to follow the step guide as closely as possible. Baring my ability to acquire this mod can anyone reassure me that i will have no issues without it? Also providing the previous can anyone recommend a different mod to enhance the vanilla butterflies that will not conflict with the STEP guide? Thank you for your response.
  13. Hello, first time modder and poster here. I have been following the STEP 2.10.0 guide to the letter and so far have found it very comprehensible and I greatly appreciate the work all you people do/have done to make that guide possible. Thank you. I have a question regarding my decision to make a slight deviation from the STEP guide. I wish to install the UNP body and I am confused as to which version of Realistic Ragdolls and Force I should install. According to the guide I should install the main file without the esp plugin if I intend to use the STEP extended patch (which I do). However when I read the Nexusmods page I see that the mod author recommends only installing the esp plugin and not the main file if any body mods are going to be used (which I assume UNP counts as). My question is do I need to install Realistic Ragdolls and force at all? Or just install XPMS extended and the UNP body and get the esp plugin from the STEP extended patch. or should I just follow the STEP guide exactly as read and install UNP body somewhere around when I install the better males mod? I apologize if this question has already been asked and answered somewhere else. Thank you for your assistance.
