Can I run extended with my setup?

RedPanther93

Question

System specs: https://wiki.step-project.com/User:RedPanther93/SystemSpecs

  • I use Mod Organizer
  • Provide your BOSS load order if applicable (enclose in spoiler tags!)
  • I  follow STEP completely.
  • I have not applied any INI tweaks that are not part of STEP instructions.

My game has not crashed a single time yet.

My only problem is that my game runs at 24 fps max.

I have installed all the mods and the extended patch.

Maybe its too much for my laptop.

1. I have some questions regarding the installation of more mods. What would be the procedure to install a new mod that is not a part of step?

2. What would be some good ENBOOST settings for my setup?

Currently I'm using these settings:

ReservedMemorySizeMb=512

VideoMemorySizeMb=1698

Please let me know if you need more information.

Thank you for the help.

I don't recommend using any of the ENB presets on a laptop because they all take some additional CPU/GPU power. RealVision ENB Performance version might be significantly less performance hungry than some of the others, but it still needs some. If you have more than 4GB RAM on a 64-bit operating system, use ENBoost by itself without any of the ENB presets.

Laptops aren't exactly suited to heavy modding, still, you should be able to run STEP extended if you go for the lower quality versions of the mods whenever possible. (Look for the LQ flag on the guide to know which mods have a lower res version)

Two mods in particular come to mind:

- Static Mesh Improvement Mod (SMIM) where you should disregard the options in the guide and instead avoid all the heavy hitting stuff such as the detailed ropes/fences/chains, as well as use the half size textures.

- Footprints, which you should try disabling in case your CPU can't handle it.
