So just how does Mod Organizer handle the right plugin pane?

Question

Posted (edited)

Using Perkus Maximus, there is a patch for Wind Destruction Magic that uses a replacement esp. It has PerkusMaximus_Master.esp and PerkusMaximus_Mage.esp as masters. If placed below these two esps, the game crashes on startup. If I move the esp above its masters, MO doesn't spit out a missing master error, and upon loading the game it no longer crashes on startup. Saves without the esp recognize it as now being loaded, and there is no 'game data missing' message when loading a save that said the esp was missing. TES5Edit doesn't work (because naturally the esp is loading before its masters) but MO is silent and the game runs. So what's going on?

Are you using custom BOSS rules or LOOT Beta 7? I have no issues with LOOT beta 7 BOSS needs too many custom rules. I haven't tried this mod yet, but if you aren't using LOOT see if it fixes your problem.

What? What does LOOT have to do with anything?

Wind Destruction.esp has PerkusMaximus_Master.esp and PerkusMaximus_Mage.esp as a master

PerkusMaximus_Master.esp

PerkusMaximus_Mage.esp

Wind Destruction.esp

= skyrim crashes

Wind Destruction.esp

PerkusMaximus_Master.esp

PerkusMaximus_Mage.esp

= skyrim doesn't crash

tldr; Why is Wind Destruction being loaded if it's set to load before its masters and what is MO doing to load it

Fire up Wyre Bash. Green to the left means everything is OK (it does not mean that you might not have other problems). Orange means that the ESP masters are out of order. To fix, load TES5Edit, right click the ESP and select "Sort Masters". Red means you are missing masters.

Why are you guys trolling me? That has nothing to do with what I'm asking either.

There is no trolling. What was given is needed to answer your question. If you do not want help, do not ask and if you are not going to follow advice or follow up on what was ask (for example what BASH shows) why bother to ask a question? From what was ask "Wind Destruction.esp" is the master (I do not use the mod in question and therefore do not know) and BASH would answer that question. Another way would be to use TES5Edit. It will fail to load completely when there are missing masters or masters are out of order masters, thus BASH can answer the question. Finally mod organizer will also tell you, with a right triangle with an exclamation point next to the ESP on the right pane. What Phazer11 ask should be taken in the same vein. Basically you are doing something wrong or not understanding something and we are trying to figure out why/what. You obviously had to bump the post, given the vague information you gave. No one initially helped you and when they try, you complain. If I am misunderstanding something, please explain.

It appears you have two separate issues going on here.

A CDT with load order and MO not indicating a missing master..

The first one is going have to be determined by you and the second one, while not looking right to you is actually correct. There are no missing masters as all of them are enabled.

MO does not check for out of order masters, that is why we use BOSS and LOOT.

@GSDFan

That's not technically true. MO does make checks for missing masters and will indicate such with a 'yield' sign in the "Flags" column and a textual message in the the tooltip that displays over the plugin in question.

I've tried to look into this but as I currently don't have PerMa and I don't know where that 'Wind Destruction' mod comes from, I can't actually see what is going on.

Based just on what @myztikrice is saying, there does appear to be something odd happening.

Getting to the actual point at hand, all these tools, LOOT, xEdit, Wrye Bash & MO all ostensibly use the same method to query plugins and determine masters. At this stage the only thing I can think of is perhaps a circular query made by one of them which views this plugin as having its masters active because the masters of that master are active. ie. all that is needed in the middle master is catered for by the first master.

Purely speculation and based on nothing but conjecture, but that is all I ahve at this stage.

Can you post a link to that Wind Destruction mod and I'll install PerMa and do some further examination?

Could you also tell me which version of xEdit (TES5Edit) you have installed?

The only other thing that comes to mind is the actual patch you created. Does it have this 'Wind Destruction' master included and is it also active when either using xEdit or running the game? Where does it fall in the LO? I'm assuming very late if not last.

@GrantSP

Missing masters yes, but out of order masters no. I can put the windestructions esp before the perma esps and do not get a warning.

@myztikrice

I get the same results as you.

I'm in crazy town.

What was given is needed to answer your question.

Nope.

If you do not want help, do not ask and if you are not going to follow advice or follow up on what was ask (for example what BASH shows) why bother to ask a question?

Because WyreBash has nothing to do with it.

Another way would be to use TES5Edit. It will fail to load completely when there are missing masters or masters are out of order masters, thus BASH can answer the question.

The question was not asking what masters it was, and my original post already said how TES5Edit plays into my question.

Finally mod organizer will also tell you, with a right triangle with an exclamation point next to the ESP on the right pane.

OK you clearly haven't read anything.

Wind Destruction is the name of the mod as the esp implies. (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48315/?)

The Wind Destruction.esp in question is a replacement esp from the PerMa Compatibility patches page (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59257/)

SUMMARY:

Wind Destruction.esp has PerkusMaximus_Master.esp as a master. When placed above its master in MO, the game still loads. Why is this if masters must be loaded first

I think you may have found a very specific and curious bug. I too can replicate what you are seeing and it makes no sense as far as I can see.

Best option is to make a report in the Bug Genie and let @Tannin sort it out.
