Some questions about MO/SKSE and mods...

PsychoDave

Question

So I'm restarting skyrim from scratch.  I followed STEP back when it first started and I see that its a lot different now.  Ive followed the guide through 2.D. and am ready to benchmark.  However i'm having some difficulty/confusion with a few mods, mostly the SKSE ones I believe.  I ran LOOT, restarted MO and ran SKSE.  After exiting Skyrim and restarting MO I have an error that says I have files in my overwrite file.  After double clicking on "overwrite" in MO I see a folder called "SKSE"  in the folder is a Plugins folder and in that is "Fuz Ro D'oh.ini.  What do I do with this file?  I've gone back through the STEP guide, watched the how to video for skse and tried searching the forum.

There are also a few other mods not showing up in the left side of MO and im not sure if I installed them correctly or if i just missed a step.  They are Double Cursor Fix and smart souls.

The other mod i'm curious about is the High Res Texture Pack, the free DLC one.  It was already installed, through steam i guess, before I installed MO.  Its on the left window but it doesn't have a tick box and says "Non-mo.  Is this correct?  I followed the "detailed instructions" for that mod.

Thanks in advance for the help, i'm sure ill have more questions later

Just drag that SKSE folder to the Fuz Ro D'oh mod. It creates that INI if the user doesn't already have it set up.

Those mods should be in the left pane so reinstall them. Make sure you're not overwriting any other mods during the install. Some mods might need to have their names changed to a proper name so they don't overwrite other mods. This is simply because of how the mod author has the mod archived or has the archived named.

Yes, that is correct. non-MO just means it wasn't installed with MO and already existed in the Data folder. Just active them. You'll get a sweeper icon next the .ESPs in the right pane. That means you can click on the archives tab, check the .BSAs for the Hi-Res DLCs, and then deactivate the .ESPs to save some ESP slots.

I dont have a Fuz Ro D'oh mod in the left pane...  Since its an SKSE mod it was a manual install.  So I assume I missed a step in the instillation process to get the Mod in the left pane.

Fuz Ro D'oh, DCF and Smart Souls are all manual installs, there is no link to download through MO, if that helps...

Also, where you see "detailed instructions" in the Guide, you should be clicking it to know how to install the mod with STEP. This will take you to the mod's page with the detailed instructions on how to set up the mod. Like for Fuz Ro D-oh: https://wiki.step-project.com/Fuz_Ro_D-oh#Recommendations

Yeah, I always go to that section when its given for a mod...  I just forgot about using the first button in the menu of MO to install the archive of the "Manual Download" files and the detailed instructions page doesn't show that as a step, so I followed the install instructions from the mods Nexus pages.

I should have asked this earlier...when a mod has multiple files and your installing in MO after the first file if you dont change the name MO asks if you want to add files from this archive (overwriting existing ones) completly replace it or install using a different name.  Ive been installing using a different name and now it occurs to me that perhaps I should have been adding files...  What is the correct method?

1- Merge

2- Replace

3- Rename

Well after some reading and a video it looks like it doesnt matter really if i merge or rename.  Merging keeps the mod list a bit cleaner so Ill start using the merge option going forward with STEP and later i will go back and merge the other mods that have multiple parts.

Thank you Dragon King, I appreciate your help!!
