Quick way of reducing the files in SRO 2k?

Question

Posted

Hey,

I'm slowly starting to reinstall skyrim and all my mods, wanting to try 2k. Afaik the 2k version of SRO has some redundant files. Is there a tool that allows me to automatically delete all the files in the 2k folder that are not present in the 1k-2k optimized version?

Thanks in advance!

I think your topic title is kinda conflicting with what you are saying.

Is there an easy way to reduce 2k textures to 1k?

Yes, there is.

Is there a way to delete only 2k files from the entire folder easily?

No, but I think I know a program that a batch system could be made for.

So which is it?

Sorry I haven't been clearer.

There are more files in the 2k archive of SRO, someone told me those are redundant HDDLC files. Those files where deleted from the 1k-2k optimal archive. I would like to delete them from the 2k archives as well but would rather not go manually through all the files if there is a tool that can do it for me

Is there a program that compares files in folder a and b and deletes all files from a that are not present in b?

Not that I am immediately aware of....

Unless you had a very specific reason

I wouldn't worry about that because its a non issue.

The files are just over written and its not a big deal.

Thanks for the info!

The reason I am reluctant about it is, that I couldn't tell which file conflicts are intentional and which aren't. I currently don't have an install so I cannot check if SRO overwrites anything non vanilla at all.

most of the time conflicts are just fine and are for which textures to you like more...

You'll know when you need to worry about which mods needs to overwrite the others...

This may be a bit off-topic, but isn't Skyrim Mod Combiner the sort of tool that does this?

To be honest I'm not at the stage yet where I am looking at adding in textures and such, not until I get a better rig at least. I did see this in the Nexus though and was intrigued by it.
