Random Excessive Depth-of-Field/Blur an ENB issue?Survival effect?

Question

Posted

I've been using STEP Extended with the realistic weather and immersive survival packs for several weeks now with almost no problem. However, I've encountered a rare (I believe - has happened only twice in those many weeks) issue where the Depth of Field effect in the game goes way over the top. I've chalked it up to a quirk with ENB or have even considered that maybe I fat fingered an unknown (to me) hotkey combo that invokes extreme DoF.

Tonight when it happened, however, I got to wondering if maybe it is an effect of one of the pack mods? Does DoF go bonkers for any of the survival mods? Such as extreme cold or fatigue? My character wasn't drunk, and I don't believe he was cold (though may have been and I missed the warning). But I know he was "very tired". I thought it might be that, but then I was in an inn warming up, and when I exited, the effect disappeared. So I'm thinking maybe it's a cold effect (or, again, just a random glitch cleared by moving indoors then outdoors again).

Anyway, just curious. It was a really severe effect. Like the worst amateur photoshop tilt-shift effect you could imagine.

Thanks!

I remember something of the sort... I believe it's from wet and cold

I remember it happening every time I walk up mountain to the south of river wood + to the southwest of solitude

It lasts for about 1-2 mins and it does not matter if it's a brand new save or an old... I find it annoying but just wait it out...

:/

Some of those mods do use the ingame DoF to create effects, which when added on top of the ENB DoF just cause..... well it aint pretty in most cases!

In the wet n cold case then it happens when it rains or when you are in the dragonborn content and there is an ash storm.

As I recall there also is a radial blur when you are cold etc. in frostfall

Awesome - thanks all! Yeah, it sounds like the frostfall effect that Aiyen described. Definitely radial. Now that it sounds as though it's configurable, I'll check out the MCM settings.

Thanks again!
