Do STEP patches roll-up "lower" patches?

Question

Posted (edited)

Sorry if this has been asked - I would assume it had been, but searching several ways turned up nothing.

I'm new to STEP and rebuilding the core (for the fifth time). The mod "Realistic Ragdolls and Force" (Realistic Force on Nexus) is NOT marked Core however the notes say not to bother with the mod if using the Extended patch. So ... why include it at all? Or rather, why would I not use the Extended patch if I'm rolling the extended STEP load?

Also, the way the STEP patches are described kind of makes it seem like they roll up into each other (STEP Core patch into Extended patch into Combined Non-HF into Combined-HF). Do I have that right? And if so, if STEP Extended patch is part of the STEP Combined Plugins patch(es) that suggests to me that I do not need Realistic Force at all. And if that's the case, I can't imagine the STEP authors would then leave Realistic Force in the lineup.

Or do the STEP Combined Plugins NOT include the STEP Extended patch? If I'm rolling all DLC's do I need to include the Realistic Force mod with the Combined/Combined-HF plugins? And only leave it out if rolling Core or Extended-ExtendedPatch?

Sorry if that's confusing ... my mind is twisted up in knots by now!

Thanks for any advice!

PS - Another stupid question, but can I change MO categories to whatever I want? I want to categorize mods by STEP section.

Combined & CombinedHF into Core into Extended to remove the need for using multiple plugins. There is a simple questionaire that tells you want patch to use one the STEP Patches wiki page.

Only difference between Combined and CombinedHF is that one is for people that own Hearthfire.

Realistic Ragdolls is Extended so I put it in the Extended patch to eliminate a plugin.

Most of that can be explained away as ...the STEP authors want to keep everything Modular , so everyone has Options.

You only use ONE of patches...read the readme for the patches.

Only reason to not actually use the Extended patch would be ..if you happen to not want to use one fo the Mods that are part of the patch (master) then you couldent use the patch and would then have to download a series of other patches...

Yes you can use categorizes...least i hope so, I did...>>>MO, same as the STEP WIKI

Thanks to you both. I understood that only one patch was to be used and I understood the patch questionnaire as well.

Thanks for the tip on categories as well - that will definitely help for future rebuilds!
