LODs Not Appearing / Missing

Question

Posted

Hi,

I've used DynDOLOD 3 with DynDOLOD DLL SE until now, without issue. Now I wanted to try DLL NG instead. I ran the program successfully and got the initialization message in game, but nothing appears as it should. There is no LOD on the surrounding mountains for example, and objects such as lampposts and buildings do not pop in until close. I updated the Resources file to Alpha 52 after running DynDolod 3 Alpha v1.79. The strangest thing is, When I first started a new game and then went outside, things appeared normal, once. Then I loaded an earlier save from just after I started the new game. The LODs were gone, and I haven't been able to get them back since; not with a new game and not with reinstalling and re-enabling the output files. It took over 6.5 hours to run the program the first time I did it, then realized I forgot the new settings for NG. The second time I ran it, it took almost 4.5 hours to run. So, I am loathe to try again unless I can identify the problem. Downgrade FarGrid references to NearGrid was disabled and Parent-Child was enabed when I ran the program the second time. The rest of my settings matched the regular Step guide for QHD. The one thing I know I probably did wrong was I enabled the Large tree checkbox without any .Ini edits. I would expect that to only cause issues with the trees, however. There is no bug report text file, the debug file exceeds the upload limit size for mod authors, dragging and dropping the log text into this box does nothing, and I don't see any other way to attach the log file. I looked at the Paste.ee site, but the log file is also too large for an unregistered user, and I don't understand how it works anyway. Definitely feeling frustrated after all of that.

I have successfully found the culprit to be my grass cache although I can’t explain why it would do this as it claims to have generated successfully and I had both inis set to mode 2 and verified all inis are correct. Seeing as I don’t believe this has anything to do with your mod I will go talk to dwemerengineer and see if they might know the cause of this.

"Cranking all the settings to the max" instead of setting sane and logical values for the 3 object LOD levels would be one method to cause LOD issues.

Assuming the generated LOD meshes have no issues themselves, the most likely reason is either INI setttings or mods that change how the engine works like Seasons of Skyrim DLL.

Yes lol I agree and only did this after multiple times trying little hikes in distance to no avail. I never would do this during normal use.
apologies for possibly wasting your time as this is a grass cache issue and I only didn’t notice because i never play without dyndolod and since it’s using bad info from NGIO I guess it makes it worse

I suggest to temporarily disable only the NGIO DLL to see if it is really involved.

I would like to confirm that this bug was related to NGIO and a patch (BETA 13) has been released to fix the issue with water checks (whatever that means) finally allowing me to generate grass correctly and subsequently fixing my LOD pop-in issues.

Thanks Sheson you're goated and very hands on. Hope you're proud of your work dude dyndolod is easily one of the best mods we have for skyrim! Hope to see you on the oblivion remastered side of things soon ;)

I reran xLODGen, Texgen, and DynDOLOD mid save and now my entire LOD is missing. I followed the clean save instructions in the FAQ and even tried starting a new game and the problem still persists, however when inside a city the mountains for example appear normal. I still have the old generated files from creating backups and when I restore those everything works fine. These two images are what I am seeing from outside Whiterun 1, 2. This is what it looks like from within the city walls 1. Here are all the logs.

First of all, I'll apologize if I broke any of the rules while posting this, I'm just looking ofr some help. Well my issue is as my title says, my LOD for my game is not working at all. There should be attachments to accurately illustrate my problem. I followed the installation and generation instructions for DynDOLOD, yet I can't figure out why it's failing now. As my title says, it used to work fine, but ever since updating, absolutely no LOD shows. I would post logs and bugs, but i don't have any bugreport.txt files. Attachment below:

Any help at all would be appreciated. I'm sure it's a simple mistake on my part.

You must post your log files as I mentioned in the other topic and as instructed in the OP.

Which logs do I post? I don't have any bugreport.txt logs, and my "Logs" folder inside installation has a bunch of different logs. Which ones specifically?

..\DynDOLOD\Logs\[DynDOLOD|TexGen]_[TES5|ENDERAL|SSE|TES5VR|ENDERALSE]_log.txt

  • \DynDOLOD\Logs\DynDOLOD_SSE_log.txt
  • \DynDOLOD\Logs\TexGen_SSE_log.txt

..\DynDOLOD\Logs\[DynDOLOD|TexGen]_[TES5|ENDERAL|SSE|TES5VR|ENDERALSE]_Debug_log.txt (always upload entire debug log)

  • \DynDOLOD\Logs\DynDOLOD_SSE_Debug_log.txt
  • \DynDOLOD\Logs\TexGen_SSE_Debug_log.txt

Post Logs & Read OPs!

  1. Post logs & bugreport.txt from the installation folder using text sharing services like Paste.ee
    • Each run log is appended to the existing log. Truncate logs to last meaningful full run.
  2. Post screenshots using an image hosting services like imgbox
  • Then use the image tool to post screenshots in a Lightbox:

Alright. so I have the logs. But I can't figure out the pastebin feature for the life of me. Unless I'm doing it wrong, every time I try to copy & paste the log information to something like Paste.ee, it freezes. Am I not supposed to copy? Is there an easier way? Thank you for your patience so far.

Moved to a thread with a similar problem. See https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Use-Search. See posts above.

If none of the FAQ answers help, double check grass cache and NGIO as just recently discussed.

Read https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Post-Logs which entire DynDOLOD log and debug log to upload when making posts.
Zip and upload large or all logs to a file service as explained if the paste service does not work.

You can upload the text files rather than try to paste them

You can also use a file-sharing service like Google Drive, Dropbox or Mega. Just archive the logs into 7z or zip and upload that file for sharing.

For like 3 days i am still don't know why my lod just disappear like lod32 not set to 1 yet, i am set everything from clear map of skyrim with uLockedObjectMapLOD=32 and level32=1 in DynDOLOD_SSE.ini and it still cause huge lod missing from the map just like some people here , the weird things is after some regen it appear back but after i run into different location lod disappear again and stay like that in that location and if i do a regen and somehow make the lod comeback in that location but if i move around a bit it will happen in new location like it try to caching something, this happen both in old save and new game using coc whiterun for testing

The generated LOD meshes and textures either work all the time or not at all (in that case issues might be already visible in NifSkope for example). They do not deteriorate because the game used/showed them.
See https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Rudimentary-Troubleshooting.

Make sure the object LOD level 32 files are installed and active in the load order in the MO2 right window data tab.

If none of the FAQ answers help, double check grass cache and NGIO as just recently discussed.
