Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

If you are using MO you can just install the rest of the SR mods and then do the cleaning and otherwise follow the guide.

If not then it is properly best to start over from the beginning.

And when you start over use MO. You will save yourself a lot of grief down the road.

Does MO work well with Wrye Bash? I had thought WB was the preferred modding tool for a heavily modded Skyrim as per reading the STEP guide. Definitely willing to change/upgrade though! Anyway I could re-use my configured Bash - installers .rar and .zip files?

Edit: I did some snooping and it looks like Wrye Bash is only used in this guide to generate the Bashed Patch. And it seems to me I would have to revert to a vanilla install and re-download all the mods using MO to convert from my STEP "proper" config to the SR version

You can set Wrye bash up as an executable under MO in which case it will act on the MO created virtual data directory.  This can certainly rebuild bashed patches.  It can do other things too but I don't know exactly what it can or can't do.

MO´s saving grace is the ease at which you can install mods, and the control it gives you! You never touch the actual data dir hence even if you mess things up really bad you do not really have to redownload the entire game! Or worry about if it actually removed everything correctly like with NMM!

Also the overview it provides with texture and mesh mods to see what overwrites what is very nice to have!

You can still do manual install of all mods from .zip, .rar files and it even helps you make the correct folder structure!

Only downside I have with it is that there is a slight issue with downloading files from nexus at points... the connection can time out quite a few times while manual download works in the first go... however the authors says this is a nexus side issue with the random server choice and depending on server load etc.

The trick is to manually download large files (which allows you to chose your own server) and then install them with the button on the upper left hand corner of MO.  You can use the built in NMM downloader for smaller ones.

Problem is that small ones are just as likely to do the issue as large ones. But nothing I can really do about it unless I start a premium membership on the nexus, in which case it should always work I have been told.

An issue with downloading speed or an issue with comparability / mod configuration?

Just an issue that depending on time of day etc. makes so downloads time out... I have been told this is due to the way nexus site assigns a random server when you press the "download with manager". The problem is easily solved by just manually downloading the file instead from a server that is less crowded. But it is has been much more noticeable lately due to the nexus having some server issues and there only being 3 or 4 download servers instead of the normal 10.

From what I can surmise, Nexus assigns a download server based on which ever one has the fewest concurrent users. In theory that would work well and help distribute their server load, but when a server hickups or goes down the user count for that particular server drops and it gets pushed to the top of the download priority list, resulting in borked automatic downloads. For me, at least, it seems to be the Salt Lake servers having the most issues.

hey guys.

i have installed SR 1:1 regarding to the guide with mode optimization, etc. for 3 times in the last 4 months now. i am getting constant CTDs with and without ENB.

because it was so anoying i tried a normal STEP installation (average performance) - without CTDs.

is it possible that the high ress textures can cause the CTDs and it is possible to potentially eliminate them by using performance friendlier versions?

GPU: GForce GTX 670 (2 GB VRAM)
