statmonster
Thanks Aiyen - that fixed the warning issue and now the map find feature works too. Link to comment
statmonster
I seem to get significantly less stuttering running from SKSE in the MO than from ATTK Lite in the MO. At least I think this is what's happening and it's not perception. Has anyone else noticed this? Link to comment
Satyre
@ Aiyen & Lauren. Thx for the heads up. Once I'm finished with the complete reinstall I'll see if I can get rid of the constant ctds. DDSOpt question: When using hi-res textures, restrict to 2048 and normals to 1024 right? Link to comment
Aiyen
DDSOpt question: When using hi-res textures, restrict to 2048 and normals to 1024 right?Yes. If you still lack performance and get many CTD after doing that then you can either use 1k versions of the texture packs, or take a good look at SMIM since it actually also does make a huge performance impact since it increase the poly count by massive amounts in certain regions. I seem to get significantly less stuttering running from SKSE in the MO than from ATTK Lite in the MO. At least I think this is what's happening and it's not perception. Has anyone else noticed this? But do you also get to play for a longer period of time without CTD? Stuttering is normally because the game engine is waiting for your RAM to write/read to the HDD cache instead.. or because you do not have a fast enough CPU etc. etc. With ATTK on you make skyrim even more of a priority which would make these symptoms even more profound since it makes more operations. Link to comment
jasonstory44
Is it not possible to view papyrus logs with MO running? I changed my skyrimprefs.ini to enable logging but I still don't get a report or folder generated. Is anyone else still getting occassional CTDs and freezing with skyrim revisited? I do believe they are less than when I've played in the past but obviously I hoped for none lol Link to comment
walkman80
Not looking forward to 1.9 hahaha! I have a pretty solid build now - thanks to Neo and everyone else here - and have played ~ 8 hours and have had 2 in-game crashes, non-reproducible. Added a few other misc mods (i.e. Skyrim Unleashed, Duel Combat Realism, EZ2C Dialog, music changes). I, too, have noticed ATTKLite causing a bit more studdering and the initial load time for the game even on SSD is longer but I think I'll stick with it for now. The pros seem to outweigh the cons. statmonster
Walkman - how do you like Skyrim unleashed and Duel Combat together? I like a duel Combat but have never tried Unleashed. Does Unleashed play well with Skyrim Revisted mods like Realistic Needs and Frostfall? Link to comment
Neovalen
Hey guys, sorry I've been kinda mute the last few days... real life family pulling me away. Going to do a full update of what I've missed now. :) Link to comment
walkman80
Walkman - how do you like Skyrim unleashed and Duel Combat together? I like a duel Combat but have never tried Unleashed. Does Unleashed play well with Skyrim Revisted mods like Realistic Needs and Frostfall? So far, loving Unleashed, especially with Alternate Start (because you don't level anything from the tutorial and you start with pretty much nothing). I'm playing a wood elf archer/1h character and I had to hunt and get a follower just to stand a chance in Bleak Falls. Actually took me ~15 attempts to beat the Draugr Lord in the Barrow w/ a follower. And leveling is a lot slower, I really feel the immersion having to hunt, do a lot of alchemy, train, etc. With Duel Combat its good, too, as enemies have a different strat as opposed to just rushing at you, especially if there is more than one. So, the one thing about Unleashed is in the description page it says Realistic Needs isn't advisable as the game is harder and some of the Unleashed stuff gets overwritten (Unleashed adds some food benefits etc), so I haven't tried it. But I am using Frostfall and it works great. I might give RND a try as I love that immersion factor it brings. Link to comment
Aiyen
Just load RND after and it will work fine. I personally prefer high level enemies with ASIS (And throwing in immersive potions to top of the challenge!), since then the very start is still doable with duel combat but challenging... and later when you get higher level the game does not get any easier. Also I do not really like the unleveled lists the way it is done in unleashed... it just breaks immersion to find silly good items in every basic trader along the way. Also the community uncapper already can do leveling up adjustments, so no real point in using the unleashed esp for that. In essence I just found that unleashed does not bring anything that specialized mods cannot do much better.. and they still have compatibility with SR. Just a small not about ASIS though... it seems to have a slight compatibility problem with AV that I am trying to sort out now. I found out that it was the cause of my missing textures on certain creatures. Also it can be slightly immersion breaking since sometimes if you use the more spawn ability of it then it spawns many mobs on top of each other... so when you shoot one guy suddenly he is 7 :S. Also certain boss fights like at the end of barrow can get a bit broken since there is a potential for 5 of them standing there on top of the guy climbing out. Jason: Papyrus logs are stored where the game ini´s are in your documents folder by default. Neo: Welcome back! I almost feel sorry for all the stuff that you have missed :) Link to comment
Satyre
@ Jason - Using notepad++ you can open the papyrus log and notepad will prompt you to refresh when it is updated (which can be annoying, btw) @Aiyen - With 16 GB high-performance RAM running, cpu at 4 GHZ and a GTX 680 with 4 GB ram I should have the necessary performance reserves. My last iteration of SkyRev rarely used more than 3 GB VRAM although RAM usage often rose to roughly 3.2 GB. Nevertheless ctds every 15 minutes were a constant problem. Link to comment
Aiyen
Yes plenty of hardware, but sadly like you have observed then its a problem on the game engine. It only can access 3.2Gb max directly. If you have 16Gb you should be able to run full cache in the RAM alone (This is what I observe on my end The game has roughly 2.5-3Gb of use and reserved about 3-6Gb). However if you run the game at above 3Gb for too long it will CTD eventually... just because it cannot swap files in and out fast enough. It is a game engine limitation, and nothing can be done unless the game engine suddenly where to become a 64bit app. This is also why I think it is silly that people ask for 4k x 4k texture packs, since the game engine cannot support that sort of texture load anyways no matter how epic a computer you have. Of course a few small unique textures are okay, but anything that needs to be multiplied over several actors and meshes is a no go.. unless you want to make everything else look really bad. Also since you say you observe 3Gb of VRAM use... this is most likely your problem. The game has to load in textures from the HDD through the RAM into VRAM.. so if you use up all available RAM for textures there is nothing for other game functions.. and hence it CTD! (Also why you cannot benefit from more then 3Gb VRAM total since the game cannot physically load in more due to its 32bit app nature. ) Link to comment
Neovalen
64bit or DX11 would help a TON for Skyrim. Sadly as explained above the problem is RAM not VRAM. ( see the STEP support section for slews of posts). Dx11 would skip mirroring textures in RAM and 64bit would allow us to run more than 3.2gb but that's a Bethesda fix.... Link to comment
statmonster
While it would be great if they reworked Skyrim I suspect the economics of it just don't make sense. I hope I'm wrong about this. Still I suspect this is the last game of this sort to be made without requiring one or both of these. Link to comment
jasonstory44
Quick question guys...with the new version of TES5Edit out, can we just reclean the already cleaned files for the Skyrim Revisited setup OR do I need to completely reinstall the original esps and reclean from scratch? Link to comment
