Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

Neovalen, do you think a crash to deskktop during the initial loading screen is more likely related to my applying your setup to Skyrim 1.9? Or is there a better chance that I screwed something up during installation and patches? CTD at loading screen is usually a load order issue correct?

Just trying to figure out a starting point to trouble shoot this.

Thanks, Jason

Are you using Skyrim Performance Monitor to launch Mod Organizer/Skyrim for you? If so, try doing it without.

I was getting CTD's when using SPM and once I nixed that they were gone.

@Neo - are you going to update Skyrim Revisited to adopt the STEP 2.2.2a hotfix changes? Mainly, switching SMIM to load after Detailed Chests and Ruins Clutter Improvement?

Detailed Chests and Ruins Clutter Improvement have been moved from Section K into Section F so that they are overwritten by Static Mesh Improvement Mod. See current Section F for revised order.

I already state to remove the conflicting files from RCI. I'll double check detailed Chests when I get home.

Okay here is a strange one.

I am messing around with AV again because as far as I can tell running about and spawning various monsters via. console then only some creatures get the skins.

Mudcraps have different skins, fox and bunnies have as well. However wolves do not, and neither do mammoths and giants etc.

So now I am trying to reinstall AV from scratch too see if that fix the problem.

Now I thought I previously had made an DDSopt optimized version of all the textures, but apparently when I try to run them though it does nothing to any texture!

I figured something might be wrong with my settings, so tested on a texture from SRO and other packs that I had done earlier that I knew should make a change and they work. However not a single one of the AV ones get any operations done to them.

I have double and triple checked that every setting is pr. the STEP wiki.

I also tried to constraint all the textures to 1k x 1k but again nothing, but with other textures no problem!

This is really strange, anyone have a clue ?

What version should we use for "StarX AV Packages" ? The guide says "Version: 1.03 (All) " but the nexus site only has 1.00 or 1.02 while his link to the Bethsoft forums has other versions (but with incompatible dates).

I am assuming we should use 1.00-1.02 that you link to on Nexus.

Aiyen - I assume it's due to the odd structure of AV folders or the order in which you did DDSopt and ran the AV proc. Maybe if you removed all the textures to a standard folder structure, then run DDSopt, then put them back and then run AV it might work better. Or it might not.

Same here, Aiyen. I saw basically no changes to AV packages when running them through DDSopt. I figure they're already opt'd. I even did just the normals and only 2 or 3 files were changed.

Neo means to download ALL of the StarX AV Packages (Draugr, Falmer, Giant, Hagraven, Trolls and Wolves).

With the new Show Race Menu Precache Killer mod, where should this file go when using Skyrim Revisited? Currently with a full SR setup, the defaule SKSE/plugin folder does not exist within the normal Skyrim Data directory for a clean install.

Perhaps in the mod notes, indicate where the file should be placed?

Was wondering this myself.

I added Skyrim Unleashed and Duel Combat Realism to my build and holy crap. Game is tough even on Adept, and leveling is a nightmare. These coupled with Frostfall make for an interesting playthrough. Have to have followers now at early level and spend more time hunting and gathering than fighting.

I get pretty good gains from ddsopt on AV textures as well as reducing the normals.  I'd say it's actually the best gains overall out of all packs and overall I see no visual degradation from the procedure (the textures aren't great to begin with)

I only do the textures in the overwrite folder after patching and you have to make sure ddsopt recurses properly.

It should be placed directly in the data folder... (i.e. just click install as the path is correct inside the file)

Is "WIC Cloaks of Skyrim Patch 2_2" not needed?

Nope, since we're using the crafting only version of WIC it's not required.

Dual Sheath Redux Update:

I have completed Shield and Sword Meshes For Vanilla. Moving On To Staves, Maces, Axes, and Daggers.

I have obtained permission to create compatibility patches for Elemental Staffs and De-Larpification from their respective authors. :)

Still looking for a mesh expert though as I have a few sheath tabs facing the wrong way and I don't know how to edit them myself...
