Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

@VirusShell - With my older 1GB card, I could not use the SKSE.ini setting of 2048. It caused my face to flicker and eventually go completely black. I do not have that problem with my 4GB card. May be related.

You can try a lower value such as 1024 and see if the problem goes away as well.

Thanks! Tho if I recall I've had that for a day or so and never noticed an issue yet. But I'll try disabling it. Tho I'm not certain if it will matter as both of my 6950's are 2gb.

I'm looking into my driver settings right now and testing settings to see if I screwed up somewhere there lol. And then I have a few more places in mind.

I'm getting pretty bad slow-downs in game upon going outside and occasionally in bigger interiors like dungeons. Its immediately fixed by alt tabbing then going back into the game though. Any idea what causes that?

No idea, never get that.

This is incorrect (RE: Cleaning the Bethesda ESMs):

To resolve this problem, perform the following:

Navigate to /overwrite/TES5Edit Backups and move all of the backup files to /Data.

Select all the ESM files in the /Data folder except Skyrim.esm and move them to the /overwrite directory.

Rename the .backup* files to their original name such as Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm and so on.

The ESM files are no longer in the /Data folder; the modified ones are in overwrite, the backups in TES5Edit Backups.

Other than the typo (patch=path) I don't see a problem... in MO 12.6 the files did NOT move into overwrite but stayed in the main dir for some reason... Are you using 12.6 or 12.7?
@NotARobot - it's a fluke. For some people who have done literally everything right, MO moves files back to the proper folders. For others they stay in the overwrite directory and have to manually be moved back.

Prior to starting on a brand new machine, my version of 12.5 and 12.6 on different computers both would leave everything in the overwrite directory requring manual copy back to the mod directory. Now on a new machine with 12.6 and 12.7, it's been working automagically.

It's just flaky and appears to work differently for people randomly that no one has quite figured out yet. So in the case of the guide, it's fine as that's the functionality that is intended by MO (and Neo)...however for an unknown reason yours is doing the opposite, as mine did at one time.

The best you can do (as I was never able to figure out what it was after tons of debugging), is just post a bug report to the MO author and hope he has some answers.

Well... so far I'm at a complete loss. It seems to trigger on the last mesh that was changed...... sometimes. So I give up for now.

Sorry we couldn't be more assistance. Skyrim is finicky sometimes... Hell maybe turning off your computer and coming back later will fix it... lol

This is going to sound bad but I'm coming to the realization that I dislike how Wrye Bash generates bash patches... sometimes they are strait up incorrect (restoring intentional deletions)... Will investigate more as I reach the end of the guide(so far I have yet to generate one this build until tonight).

Quick example: UDBP removes an entry that the developers left in that literally says "Delete me when finished" on it. Running a Bash Patch restores this entry...

Lol, it's fine! I appreciate all of the help given. I tried quite literally everything I could think of and I just don't feel like spending another minute fretting about it. So far I've wasted 3-4 hours on this one thing and it's just not worth the time lol. I even reverted MO back to 0.12.6 hoping that would help as I've had a ton of issues since updating to 0.12.7! And nothing as of yet.

Oh well. It's no secret that Skyrim isn't known for being the most stable coding

Holy crap' date=' Neo! You are on a roll today![/quote']

I'm trying :)

Dragonborn update status: Completed through ''The Armory of Skyrim''. This completes the vast majority of texture mods. ''Serious HD'' still not yet updated to latest version. Cleared back changelog entries to current month only. My VRAM cap is pretty much hit, going to begin optimizing with DDSOpt some and see where I can pick up some savings. Will keep you guys apprised. :)

Obviously I could also downgrade any # of textures from 4k->2k, etc... as well on my end. But I'd rather not... ;). Think I'm done with actual guide updates tonight... and maybe for tommorow unless something I've already updated gets re-updated. I want to get my VRAM usage down.

Do you think you might be able to post any results of what you get or perhaps what you do that becomes most beneficial? I've started to think that my issue may be coming from the fact that none of my textures (outside of vanilla) have been optimized. And would you suggest optimizing all at some point? Or just the ones that probably take up the most room.

And again, damn! You did a ton today and I don't think we can thank you enough!

Hey, I just noticed this:

Skyrim Weapon De-LARP-ification Project

Author: MadCat221

Version: 1.0.5

Optionals: Dawnguard

There is also an optional Dragonborn file. Is it something that should be downloaded as well? Or no?

Fixed... for some reason I never got an upload notification from the Nexus... odd.

Edit: Go figure the actual downloaded file says DAWNGUARD... even though it contains DLC02 files...
